She has MS and is in a wheelchair.

My nephew and I . He's twenty four and he has his own apartment, so she lives alone. Except for a bossy cat.

We did the same. I would be on the floor in his room, then later move to the hallway, then my own room.

Many, many nights I woke up, still on his floor, at 2AM or 3AM and managed to wobble my way to my own bed.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Letting the baby cry it out/learn to soothe himself is not easy. It rips your heart out, but they must learn to calm themselves, in my opinion.

evie (ecie) | 4442 comments I'm silently yahooing. My daughter scored a monthly singing gig at at a hostel where she has been volunteering since she was 16. $100 for a 45 minute set. She's happy.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Sing it out loud, sister! That is good news. Love it when those daughters are happy.

This is our second round of this. When he first started going to bed by himself, I ended up sleeping on his floor most nights. It is nearly impossible to sneak out of his room. Stupid old house floors. Even if I do a Rambo slither out, the floor creaks and little pops up out of a dead sleep crying. The hallway seems to be working.
He was very fierce in his gobby go command last night. I hate that he is scared of something.

Still stuck in hospital. Finally feeling a bit better though. Hopefully I can go home tomorrow!

message 3119: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments Oh, Melia, I have been thinking about you! I am glad you are feeling better! I hope you get to go home tomorrow. Take care!

message 3120: by [deleted user] (new)

Ty. Was supposed to be one night. But, it seems I had to be difficult and develop para carditis or something...a swelling of the heart sack. It sucks btw.

evie (ecie) | 4442 comments Hope you feel better soon, Amelia.

message 3122: by [deleted user] (new)

Thank you. I am actually much better this evening. Dr. B said I would bounce back soon, but I was beginning to doubt. He was right. I'll thank him when I get the bill. :)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Good news Amelia. Feels great to bust out of the hospital. Right now I am reading the Sunday New York Times and getting ready for my (in real life) book group. We've been meeting for 19 years now, so we're sort of an institution. Great group of women.

message 3132: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments Jealous, Cynthia! Sounds fun.

I am home from a great day at work.

message 3133: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments We met when we all had wee babies in the house. Fun to still know each other as some of us get close to the grandma stage. Things change, some have moved away, some have gone through divorces, but we always get along (mostly.)

message 3134: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments Oh, I wish I had something like that! So nice.

message 3135: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments You can start one up, Susan! Find some other moms with little kids. That is the best time to make a new friend. It gets harder as people get more settled.

message 3136: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments I feel like it is already hard.

I started walking with a group of ladies but I guess we were not a match made in heaven because it did not last.

Maybe I need to try with a book club.

message 3137: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments Most of the group things I have gotten involved with in person (I am in resistance over saying IRL. Is it wrong of me to feel a real connection with any of you just because we are not face to face?) Have all gone the way of the fizzle. I get excited about it, less people show up every time, I am suddenly in charge of too much and it becomes obligation instead of enjoyment. Then it just fades away. It has made me hesitant to go out and join things.

message 3138: by Susan (last edited Mar 03, 2013 06:35PM) (new)

Susan | 6406 comments I do understand why it is used. I just can't do it. It makes me feel like I am devaluing what I get from people here and that is something I am not comfortable doing.

I am not saying that if you use it you are devaluing anyone. It is simply my silliness in my noggin. And possibly my overly sentimental ways. :)

message 3139: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) IRL is better than "meat world." IMHO. But in person is better than IRL..

message 3140: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments I had not heard "meat world". IRL is much better than that.

After that much time do you still discuss books, or is it more of a time to escape the spouses, drink wine, and tell a few stories?

message 3142: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments Oooo. I want my club to have some of that.

Phil, depends on the book. And it also depends on what is going on in our lives. There have been times when books were last on the list, and times all we do is discuss the book.

message 3144: by Susan (new)

Pondering whether I should go to the grocery store again. The one I went to earlier didn't have any good crackers, and I need crackers.
