Don't poke the sock puppet too hard. Underneath that soft exterior is a very hairy scary beast.

I used this line on a girl back in college and it did not go over too well...

Is that a new hat Felarry?

message 2459: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Not new. Got it from Goodwill last year, for cold days like today.

Me, too. Except I'm just waiting for lunch time. Then I'll be counting down until 9.

I wear the pants, Phil.

Not about pants...I don't do whizzing blades.

message 2467: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments I fear no blade.

I am also handy with tools.

message 2468: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments Dumbfounded by a thread titled, "What book would you become?". The discussion group was for Fahrenheit 451.

message 2469: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments I would not choose to become a book anywhere near that dystopia, most assuredly.

message 2470: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments I use to have terrible nightmares of being trapped in a fire.

message 2471: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments Scratch all that, Bdubs. I cannot even explain where my mind was taking me. Maybe I should just lurk today. :/

By the way, that lurker thread Z to the T started is hilarious.

message 2472: by [deleted user] (last edited Dec 13, 2012 10:57AM) (new)

I've read F451, and I didn't remember that "becoming" bit...I do now that you've said it, but I didn't before.

Just seemed like really poor wording for questions I heard before about what character would you be, or what book would you live in. I see it is much more. It's a good question. What one book would you save for posterity? Yes, a very good question. I'll have to think on that.

message 2473: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11841 comments I might become Shakespeare's play, "Henry IV, Part I."

message 2474: by Susan (last edited Dec 13, 2012 11:12AM) (new)

Susan | 6406 comments I remember how characters were picking books to learn so that the stories would not die.

However, yesterday when I read that I was super tired and feeling morose. I immediately thought who would want to be a book destined to be burned even if they would be remembered?

But I get the whole premise of the discussion. You are right, Amelia. It is a good question. I was just being overly dramatic yesterday. :)

I should have just saved it for the shittiness of today because right now I really think my boss is a giant ass.

There is a spider that keeps peeking around from behind my monitor...I'm about to go home. It's totally creeping me out and making me itch!

message 2477: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments Huckleberry Finn is a good choice. I need to think on it, like Amelia.

It has been awhile since I have had to endure the assiness so I was unprepared. It made me teary-eyed which just pisses me off. >:/

message 2478: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments I remember the wife falling asleep with the ear buds (not what they were called) in her ears to white noise. The other part is where the description of the speeding cars on the highway is given.

There are others but those are most poignant for me for some reason.

O-O

I should just change my currently reading to TC.

message 2482: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments I feel like I should. But considering how many there are I will most likely just pick and choose.

It is like an emotional roller coaster. There are 20 funny ones then you are hit with a sad one.

I am learning many things.

I played a little zither when I was 5. You stuck the music inside, underneath the strings, and plucked where the notes showed. I learned it in about 3 minutes.
