I stopped and got some on the way down Story Street. I ate one immediately. Very good! I got 6 apple fitters, too.

Apple Fritters, Felarry?
I like Dutch Letters better. Did you have the courtesy to send one to Ames?
Sigh.
Guess I'll trot on down to the Ames Dutch Oven.

Odd. Story Street in Boone, which is in Boone County, which is next to Story County. Story City (iowa) is not in Story County either. Curious.

I don't think it's the first time I've scolded the young Sally.

Félix (habitseven) I asked the nice young lady in the DO (on Story St in Boone, in Boone County, right near Mamie Eisenhower Blvd.) if she knew you. She just gave me a funny look and told me how much I had to pay for the 6 letters and 6 fritters.

My guess is it won't be the last either.

Oh Holy Christ, if she knew me it would not be surprising. I've been in the Boone DO probably a million times, typically with one of my Hospice dudes.

Did you seriously say, do you know Mrs. Cynthia, from Ames?

message 1616: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Félix wrote: "Well, you can do it. But I can't."

You could if you wanted to get your head bit off.

message 1617: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Do they make other letters besides "s"?

message 1618: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Good question. Might have to special order an L for Larry, or an F for Felix. I'll ask them next time I'm there. Maybe my Hospice client will go with me, he likes their chicken salad sammiches.

No. But she was a very nice young lady. That part was true.

message 1622: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments People are pretty nice in Boone.

But you know what they say, how is a Boone divorce like a tornado?
Either way, some one is going to loose a trailer/mobile home.

message 1623: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Ah yes. The folks with whom I interact in the Boone area are good people. Solid work ethic, caring attitude -- good employees for the most part.

message 1624: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Just never, never ask older people in Boone if it was a mistake to give Ames the Land Grant College and Boone the Railroad headquarters. Sore subject.

message 1625: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Yeah there's not much of a "headquarters" there anymore. The building is mostly empty.

message 1626: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Too bad. There are lots of gorgeous big houses there--built during better times.
