I like it when the Tardis talks about her cat. What an enigma, that Cat.

Happy equinox! Today we are equidistant between winter and summer, they say. My favorite time of year, either fall or spring.

I'd like to repot some plants. Anyone have any advice?

Jammies What's the online equivalent of window-shopping? Monitor-shopping? Yes, that works.

Right now, I am monitor-shopping at www.chocri.com and trying not to drool.

I have tons of advice on re-potting! What type of assistance would you like? Regarding the soil, the pot, the sizing of the pot, etc.

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Yes. I have a spider plant that is squeezed pretty tight so it keeps spurting babies. I'd like to split it in two, if possible. Also, I have a million aloe babies. Should I get little 2 or 3 inch pots or put them together into a larger one?

I think I know what kind of soil to use.

message 1113: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Doesn't aloe plants like it kind of dry? I'd get a bigger pot for the aloe and put a few pebbles and a bit of sand on the top of the soil(between the babies) for some contrast.

Spider plants I think like to be crowded? I don't have those.

message 1114: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments My mom planted her spider plant babies in the ground around the non-grassy area under the tree. They grow there like crazy. :) Bald ground area problem solved. LOL!

You should try planting them, Sally... worse case scenario, you have a bunch of dead spider plant babies.

message 1117: by Jammies (new)

Jammies Heidi, I think it's probably too cold in the winter in Colorado for spider plants to survive.

Sally, I can tell you that no matter how much room they have, spider plants are the rabbits of the horticultural world and they have litters. Just cut off the shoots and toss 'em on the compost.

I saw that they axed him. I was hoping he would turn around and not be a jerk, but getting rid of him is just fine. I think he saw the extremity of a couple of posts on there and just thought he could cut loose and make people feel like crap and it would be OK. I avoided him pretty thoroughly; I don't think he ever said one word to me, thankfully.

message 1147: by ~Geektastic~ (new)

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments Right now I'm slowly building up to an incredibly nervous state. My job interview is tomorrow, but I don't know what is making me more anxious, getting the job or not getting the job. I've never left a job on bad terms before and it's stressing me out. I have no doubt I want to leave, but it comes down to that whole "devil you know..." thing. Argh. *Trying to think positive thoughts*

message 1148: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Amber. Get a piece a paper. Make two columns. Column #1: why I like my current job and should stay right here. Column #2: Why I need to apply for the new job and it would work out. Fill in columns as you see fit. Compare. Take deep breaths.

message 1149: by Mary (new)

Mary (merrussell) Amber, My friend is a career counselor and is helping another friend of mine prepare for an interview. We were talking about this yesterday and the counselor friend says it is really important to write something especially along the lines of answering the question "why are you interested in this position and what will you bring to it?" She also said it is vital to do your research about the job so you know what they are looking for. Once you write something, you have it down and even if you don't use it all you have done your homework. Just some thoughts... Good luck!

message 1150: by Lobstergirl, el principe (new)

Lobstergirl | 24788 comments Mod
I'm not sure why you think you would be leaving your job on bad terms - you don't like the job, but you're pleasant, hard-working, cooperative on the job, right? If you do leave, just make sure you're upbeat and positive and pleasant as you leave. Don't burn any bridges, even if you think you will never see those people again.

As far as stress goes, take it one day at a time. Even one hour at a time. Concentrate on having a great interview and forget about leaving your current job until you land job #2.

Don't forget, even if you are offered job #2, you have the option to take the offer or reject it. It's totally up to you.
