Louise We're going to a thing in Mississippi and decided to spend some time in Memphis too. We want a week of beach relaxation, and the west coast is too far away, as it means several extra hours of flying each way. Any suggestions for an East Coast place?

North Carolina's Outer Banks:

Hatteras Island Beach

or

Nags Head, North Carolina

---

Cape May, New Jersey

Sea Island, Georgia
or St. Simons Island, Georgia

I'm partial to Maine myself, but that's probably way too far north for you if you're trying to limit flying time. It's also a lot more rocky than sandy.

Hilton Head, South Carolina. South, right?

Yes.

Phil | 11841 comments Right now I'm a bachelor, wondering I'll find to fill my weekend. My wife and son traveled to Texas today to visit my brother-in-law. I'm here taking care of FIL duty.

Félix (habitseven) You're a good SIL.

I second that.

message 758: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11841 comments Thanks. Sometimes it's tough, but then I think about how it must be for my wife.

If I seem to be over-posting on here, it's because this forum has become, for the most part, my primary social outlet. Thanks to all of you for letting me be part of the group.

Stay away from Myrtle Beach, SC. All I remember was lots of rednecks. If you bought a T Shirt they would give you a hermit crab. I bet that was extra good in the suitcase on the way home. And sharks' teeth all over the beach.

Heck, I just noticed this! I go to Boone all the time, usually to the Eastern Star Home or a meth lab on 7th street (kidding.) Got to love Boone.

message 787: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments Right now my tongue is fidgetting with an area of the gums between two upper molars. I was obsessing about it last night because it felt like something was in there that wasn't supposed to be in there... 3 pieces of floss later, I pulled 2 large pieces of masticated meat out from there and the side of a popcorn kernel shell. It still feels weird. I wonder if maybe there's a side of baked potato in there because that seems yummy right now.

Also, good on ya, Phil - add me to your list of admirers, sir. I'd send you some girl scout cookies if I could.

Also, some friends delivered their old washer & dryer set yesterday & hooked them up for me after buying an upgrade set. They're in perfect condition & they happen to be my first ever washer & dryer. Needless to say, I'm stoked... no more laundromat at 3 in the morning or on the weekends instead of going out or sleeping. So... I'm kinda doing laundry right now while lounging around all day in my jammies (I did get dressed earlier this morning to take Robby out & again this afternoon).

Also, it's my first day off from working in almost a month. I'm off tomorrow, too. :)

message 788: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Yay, Heidi! Two days off and a washer/dryer combo.

message 790: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Stoked, yes! I remember well moving in to our first home in Minneapolis. The basement washer/dryer/laundry sink was the icing on the cake. Downtown Minneapolis laundromats are the suckage.

Jammies Surgery went well, the long part was waiting for the spinal anesthesia to wear off. Mom just called and got all bossyboots at me, so I'd say she's fine.
