right now i ate too much. again. they sell this little chicken strip / potato wedge combo at the gas station across the street and it is not enough for 2 meals and too much for one. i eat it all anyway and am sick every time and vow never to do it again. i'll report back in 2 weeks when i eat it all again

That's great Cynthia. After spending time with grandparents in the hospital and nursing homes for several years, I don't know if I could handle doing the same thing for strangers, but I'm really glad there are people out there who can and do.

Actually it's emotionally simpler when I don't know them--less baggage and expectations. Does not make it any easier when they die, but it's different than visiting a dying relative/friend.

IN YOUR FACE, undeserved-traditional-skepticism-on-Friday-the-13th! I went to an ENT this morning to get my right ear checked out as a follow up to a NYE fireworks accident. Before the visit, I couldn't hear at all out of my right ear, and hearing out of my left ear was already poor. The doctor installed "scaffolding" (a thin, fitted cotton or paper sheath) over the ruptured eardrum, and I could instantly hear again. It's acting like a synthetic eardrum. I even got to watch the procedure - his ear tool has a camera on it and it was on the monitor mounted on the wall. It felt a bit unpleasant going in, but it sure was worth a moment of discomfort. Oh man, this is turning out to be a great day already!!! :) I feel like a newly energized person.

I like those too, Janine. If it's the one I'm thinking of (in the sinus cavity - "is it fungus or inspissated pus?"), I was fascinated by that looooong strip of whatever it was they pulled out - holy crap! It was a lot. It just didn't seem to stop.

Also, it should go without saying that if I'm unable to sleep at night, I just pop on youtube and watch ENTENCYCLOPEDIA's videos. They seem to relax me and lull me to sleep. :)
