One of the earlier comments tickled a half-formed memory of a book (story?) I read many years ago - seems to have taken place on a world of giant glass shards where sentient guinea-pig like creatures couldn't accept anything as true unless several of them had witnessed it and they reached a universal agreement on what had actually occurred - sound familiar to anyone or am I nuts?
