Looking forward to seeing what you think of this one! :)"
I've been intrigued by it..."
I was the same and I'm still not entirely sure of it! :)
Congrats on the stamp Ladies! :)

The Darkest Night ****
Read 08/15/11
I wasn't sure I was going to like this book and it had been sitting on my shelf at home forever. That said, I kept an open mind and just dove in.
I really enjoyed the story. I liked Ashlyn. I really liked all the Lords although there were times I had to stop in the story to remind myself which demon went with each immortal. That was one of the reasons I couldn't give it 5 stars.
While Maddox and his demon had that whole caveman instinct where the LI was involved, it really didn't bother me.
I don't want to give anything away, spoiler-wise, but I suspected that __________ might actually be a ______________ about 150 pages before we were told.
Overall, I liked this book a lot and I will read the next one at least.

I do hope (and I'm fairly sure) they're reading but I've been refreshing for days and I swear last time, I saw a tumbleweed roll by.

lol no but then again, its not high noon yet. :D

I've been working when I have to and reading when I don't. ;D My DVR is going to be so backed up by the time I get the urge to watch tv again its not even funny.
I'm eager to hear what you think about The Iron Duke, its been on my to-read list forever.

We have lots of time, so I'm not worried, I was just wondering why everyone was so quiet. Making sure everyone is okay.
I'm thrilled with our team. :D

How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf 8/16/11 ***
I wasn't so sure I was going to like this one at first. There was a little too much of the over-involved parents (especially the mother who was stock hippie character #3 - the nutty vegan*). Luckily that got out of the way - maybe not as quickly as I would have liked but eventually it did. Once we were done with that the actual small town Alaska setting and relationship with Cooper and Mo was very entertaining. There were some snicker out loud lines and scenes. Without the annoying parental obsession of the 30 year old woman this would have easily been 4 stars for Cooper & Mo's story. But there was enough about them to diminish my enjoyment. I'm going to check out the next one as it is told from a different character's POV so I'm hoping it will be the fun stuff from this book without the annoying stuff.
*Full disclosure - I am a vegan, although not a hippie so that stereotype always bugs me. So that's my own personal hang up. YMMV of course.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I really enjoyed this book! This was my first steam punk novel and I wasn't sure what to make of it when I read the description, but I loved it. The characters were fantastic and I quickly fell in love with the duke. Mina is the heroine and the discrimination against her is shocking but you can see how much she loves her family and friends and her feelings toward the duke are heavily influenced by the discrimination against her.
The action in the book is great and easy to read and I am looking forward to more stories in this series!

You will really enjoy it Mary! What a bargain :)

Finished my Alpha book: 8/20/11

My only real complaint about this series is that I wish there was a little more sex. I'm other people probably like it better because there isn't a lot of sex. But I happen to prefer hotter romances. But I really like the whole concept of the different worlds and the Psy-net. I loved the interactions between Faith and the Net-psy.

Strange Neighbors ****
This book has been on my TBR for almost a year and not too long ago, I got it for free on kindle.
It started out just ok and early in the book, I actually thought "I'm glad I didn't buy this."
Somewhere around 40%, I found I was invested and liking it. Honestly, there were a couple of plot issues I had but since they didn't effect my enjoyment of the story (and in the interest of this being a spoiler free review), I won't mention them here.
It was cute; it was steamy; I loved all the quirky neighbors in the building; I read it in one sitting; I was completely surprised by the shifter aspect, even though it was on the shifter shelf.
I plan on reading the next two books in the series... hell, I might even buy them. :)

Book: Magic Bleeds by Ilona Andrews
Completed: 8/20
Shelf: Alpha Male
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Review: This would be the fourth book in the Kate Daniels series & the longer a series continues, for me, the more I slowly lose interest. I wouldn't necessarily say the same for Magic Bleeds; however, some things in the book keep getting more and more hooked, while others I feel like I don't care about as much anymore. For example, Kate & Curran. They have a great dynamic with loads of tension. Watching them throughout this book is filled with tons of witty banter & sexiness but (And in case someone hasn't read it) (view spoiler)
The main things that keep making the storyline worth it are Kate's family ties & background. Any bit of information we get is so intriguing and pretty damn cool. On a different note, part of me really liked Erra & secretly hoped our protagonist and antagonist would be able to work out their differences. For me, the book was good, not great and it fell a little bit short when compared to its predecessors.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

They were trained by the same person, but not raised in the same environment. Hugh was Voron's protege and way older than Kate. Voron left BEFORE Kate's birth. Kate knows all about Hugh, because Voron made sure she did, so she'd know what to expect if/when their paths crossed.
Of course, it's going to be interesting to learn what's been up to all this time (since Magic Strikes) and what he may or may not have told his boss.

Book Completed: August 21, 2011
Rating: ★ ★ ★ ½
I liked but didn’t love this book. The odd throwback history for Cat just seemed a bit contrived for me and the constant bickering and distrust between Bones and Cat got a bit old. However, in the end, Bones and Cat aired some of their dirty laundry and hopefully future books will have a “healthier” relationship between the two. The Night Huntress series is still a great series and the vampire politics and attitudes are interesting. The secondary characters continue to add depth and dimension to the series. I’m hard pressed to think of another series that has such depth. The pacing of this novel is fast and furious; and it kept be engrossed. Still a series on my “Must Read” list!

I should also say that I listened to the previous 3 books on CD and this one I actually had to read. I'm wondering if that had something to do with my change.
Anyone else have an opinion? I have the next book in the series, so I will probably read that sometime in the future, maybe it gets better.

I know I've been slow on my reading this round, but I've had alot of review reading to catch up on. Hopefully, I will be caught up by the time I need to kick it in high gear for the final bingo push.

I actually prefer the other books in the series that aren't focused on Cat and Bones, as they tend to grate on you after a while.

I've never really listened to audiobooks, but I've been meaning to try them. You make a good point though, Sherri, that the medium in which you read/listen to it might be why you didn't like it as much. In the first book, once Cat & Bones "established" their relationship (I hope you catch my meaning), the story didn't seem as interesting to continue.

Friday Night Bites **** 8/22/11
This continues to be a fun, but not too stupid, vampire series. The strength of these books for me is the dialogue. Merit and friends are all pretty snarky and it's fun reading their interactions. The descriptive passages are weaker and can be repetitive. I think if you made a drinking game about the number of times Merit thought about Ethan and thought "master vampire who made me", well, you probably wouldn't get up for work in the AM. But if you want some fun dialogue and a bit of action and sexual tension then this is an entertaining read.

I just finished Greywalker by Kat Richardson on audiobook and the narration bugged the heck out of me. She made many of the characters really whiny (or it was just her voice) and I couldn't get past it.
