I'm not sure. I'll send Steph a message when I get home confirming.

That was the consensus but it's not official yet. We still have several days before this round begins so I don't think it's going to be an issue.

Carlyn | 466 comments I've been busy with the kiddies that last few days but they are behaving now so I'm back :)

A book away from an episode of hoarders (fidgit77) | 740 comments Mary wrote: "Hey why is our team so quiet?"

I was out of pocket for a few days so I was only checking in on my phone. It was the opening weekend of Harry Potter, after all.

I'm back too. :D

A book away from an episode of hoarders (fidgit77) | 740 comments So, just out of curiousity, what is everyone reading right now (while we wait)?

I'm listening to The Adoration of Jenna Fox in the car right now but my cd player is acting all funny so I may not get to continue listening to it.

I'm also about to start the fourth book in the Gregor the Overlander series, Gregor and the Marks of Secret. I was going to read Seize the Night but I'm holding off because it could be on an upcoming shelf. :)

Amanda D. (tinyminx) I just finished Awaken Me Darkly, but now I'm at a loss for what to read. Borrowed Grimspace from my library, but I'm trying to save it in case the Futuristic shelf comes up. The wait is killing me over here!

Might pick up one of the historicals I have on my shelf just to kill some time since I'm caught up on most of my challenges.

message 63: by Sherri (new)

Sherri | 781 comments Yikes! I have so many books that I need to read. For some reason I got slammed with book reviews (for my blog) for the month of July/August. I need to read Pillow Talk by Thursday but really want to read Heartless. I'm listening to Chasing Perfect in the car while driving and Wicked Appetite at home. I almost always have a couple of books in the works.

I guess that's why I haven't made a list for reading, I can usually find something that matches the shelf. :-)

That one has been on my TBR list forever. I would be interested in finding out what you thought of it when you're through.

Carlyn | 466 comments I'll let you know Christina! It was passed on to me by a friend who gave it 5 stars and she doesn't give them out lightly!

message 67: by Sherri (new)

Sherri | 781 comments I have that one on my TBR also. I'm hoping I can read it for BINGO!

Carlyn | 466 comments Is there any categories that anyone is really worried about? I'm worried about the male author category!

message 71: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments Male authors I love:

Jim Butcher
Alexander McCall Smith
John Sandford
Mike Carey
Harlan Coben

Also on the list: can't say that I love because I haven't really read them yet (or at least not enought to say that I love them):

CS Lewis (Narnia)
Simon R Green
Douglass Adams
Preston Child (2 men who write as a team)
Rick Riordin

message 72: by Carlyn (new)

Carlyn | 466 comments I forgot about jim butcher! thanks Mary :)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments I just came to add Anton Stout and Neil Gaiman.
I know for sure that Gaiman, CS Lewis, Stout and Butcher are on the list.

My question though: if one book by a male author is on the list is only that book allowed or any book by that author?

Just the books listed.

The only one I'm not thrilled about are the Angel shelf. I'm not a huge fan of the angel 'genre'.
I do like angels more than I do the fae though so I'll be fine.

message 75: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments I was worried about the Post-Apocolyptic shelf but when I looked I found several books that I own on there. It never occurred to me that they would be considered "post apocolyptic". Isn't that basically the same as Dystopian? I need to check out that shelf.

message 76: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments I just remembered Gregory Maguire. I have What The Dickens and it was on the list. So I might read that. It's short.

(assuming the shelf even gets called)

message 77: by Sherri (new)

Sherri | 781 comments I have Mark Del Franco, Kevin Hearne, Thomas E. Sniegoski, M. L. N. Hanover also on my list of male authors.

message 78: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments Oh yes-I have the 1st Connor Grey book by Del Franco.

I have that one too. I haven't gotten around to reading it yet though. .

I don't recognize any of the other authors Sherri mentioned (77) though. I'll have to check them out

Hi Cristina I finished Grave Witch and I absolutely loved it! So much that as soon as I closed the book I was online ordering the second one! You have to put this to the top of your TBR list. 5 stars from me!

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments I've got it too.....it may just have to make my GRIN pile. (Gotta Read It Now)

message 85: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments I've got that one too.

I need to select a hot romance or erotica if I can.

My GRIN pile is closing in on 1,000.

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments OMG!!!!! I only have swap books at PBS on mine. And the occasional book that comes highly recommended. Those usually make it into a reveal sooner rather than later.

I thought my GRIN pile was bad since its over 100. Can't hold a candle to yours. lol

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments Well that's my whole TBR. And of course, every book I own is one that I Gotta Read It Now.

Oh, ok lol. I understand that. My TBR is about 700 (and growing all the time). It seems I can't read fast enough to shrink it.

I read 5 books in the past week but added about 30-40 to Mt. TBR. It's a losing battle. :)

message 90: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments Yeah I picked up 2 at the thrift store last night. 1 was a good buy because it was one of my WL books on paperbackswap: The Magicians and Mrs. Quent which I couldn't pass up for 2.99 and in great conditon. I also got: The Secret Life of Bees for 2.99. I should have left that one there because I could have gotten it from PBS for a credit and probably from my library as well. But oh well.

I thought about making a little countdown clock but then I'd just stare at it, willing to make it go by faster

message 94: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments I'm going through the trilogy shelf because I was worried about that one. Most series are more than 3 nowadays and I was worried that I wouldn't have anything already. Anyway, I see people shelving bks 4, 5 etc.., as Trilogy.

And no worries-I apparently have several books that stopped at 3 in the series. Nothing that qualifies as erotica yet.

I hate to say it but there are some people that tag their favorite books for EVERYTHING... or maybe they're just not so bright?

message 96: by Mary X (last edited Jul 21, 2011 03:08PM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments I've also noticed a lot of books shelved as erotica that I know have little to no sex in them. Also a lot tagged as paranormal that I've read and know have nothing paranormal about them. It makes me wonder what people are thinking when they shelve.

Cindy (eclecticfirefly) (eclecticfirefly) | 1237 comments Yeah....and the Male Authors shelf has Twilight on it..... Can you just imagine what the guy would be like who could come up with sparkly vampires?????

ROFLMAO!!!!!

message 98: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32706 comments LOL! Yep, that's definitely something we've found in this game. People don't always shelve the books appropriately, but if the book is shelved there (right or wrongly), it's fair game for BSB. :)

message 99: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments Yeah last time I noticed a lot of books on the vampire shelf that I had read-and there wasn't a single vampire in them.

message 100: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32706 comments LOL! Sometimes you know before choosing and others only after reading, I guess.
