How do you like them so far, Mary?

I don't think the whole series was done in audio and I hate it when publishers do that. I had to get Destiny in print.
They're fairly short reads. If you're into Indiana Jones, National Treasure, Tomb Raider type stuff you might like them.

I might order the ones booksfree doesn't have. My daughter would probably like these.

I am furiously reading, although I'm nearly done with my book this week.
I still have 40 movies left to watch this month too.

Every October I watch 100 horror movies. This is why I've not been as active here on nights and weekends this month.
I watched #60 this morning while on the elliptical at the gym, Slaughter Night. Well... most of it, at least.

Book Completed: October 5, 2011
Shelf: Urban Fantasy

Blood Sin is the second book in the Awakened by Blood trilogy and picks up a couple of months after the first book, Blood on Silk. I really enjoyed this book although it was a bit slower in pace that the first book. However, what it does better I believe, is explore Elizabeth’s conflict about loving Saloman and how that love goes against all her moral convictions. If you enjoyed Blood on Silk you should definitely read Blood Sin.

I love this series! The world building has been exceptionally and the characters strong throughout. DragonLight is the last in the series and it did not disappoint. Kale and Barden have grown and matured throughout the series and we see them on one last final quest to find the meech dragons. I will miss the series, but will be exploring the other works of Donita K. Paul.

I have Strange Angels by Lilli St Crown enroute to me from the library. If it gets here today or tomorrow, I might switch to that. Although that is apparently YA too and something my daughter will like.
Ack-I will finish something by Saturday for this.

Raziel - I inhaled this book over three lunch hours (plus a little extra when I could get away with it at work). I found myself fascinated by the world of the Fallen. I'm not usually a big "Angel" fan but this was the first time I've read about the Nephilim being bloodthirsty animals.
I really liked our H and h but I found myself want to slap some sense into both of them. They both fought their feelings WAY too long for my liking and she was particularly bullheaded about the vampire/blood eater thing. Whatever... I will most definitely be continuing this series as soon as I can get my hands on a copy of book 2.

Yep. It's there. I really like that series, fwiw.

Strange Angels was shelved 21 times as Angels.
I saw quite a few books on that shelf that I've read and know there aren't any angels in them. But someone shelved them that way. I can't remeber specific titles off hand.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
What an interesting start to a new series! The premise is fantastic with angels, vampires and lycanthropes all coming from the same angelic line. Adrian is basically one of the leaders of the seraphim and his war is against the vampires who were angels who fell in love with mortals and produced their childen, the nephalim (hope i'm spelling that right) and when Lindsay makes eye contact with him he see's his future and his past.
I really loved Lindsay in this story! She was such a strong heroine and even though she was thrown into a timeless war she stood up. Her feeling for Adrian were lovely to read and I loved the fact that a new soul got a chance. (Gotta read it to know what that means!)
A great book for anyone who loves romance, urban fantasy, action and a conspiricy!

Thanks for the info on that series, Mary. It sounds much more fun the way you've described it - esp considering I like all those movies. I have listened to the Caster Chronicles by Kami Garcia on audio (#1-2) and they have the sound effects too. It really caught me off guard when I heard it in the first one, but it's pretty cool.
Cristina, have you seen any really good movies this year? I saw last night while poking around IMDB that there's another Hellraiser? Can't remember the year or exact name, but I know Hellraiser was in the title. Didn't look like the dude who's always played Pinhead on the cover though. So, probably a straight to video type thing. Enjoy the remaining 40!
Alrighty -- off to stamp your card, Ladies ...

You now have an updated BINGO card with a stamp on 'urban fantasy' and 'dragons'.
[Your new BINGO card can be viewed on page 1]
Good Job!! :D

I had forgotten they were making a new Hellraiser, I'll have to check it out.
There are quite a few (new to me) movies that I really liked so far this month.
Insidious, Exorcismus, Killer Movie (a bit tongue-in-cheek, slasher flick), Voices, Blood Creek, Forget Me Not (creepy creatures), My Soul to Take, Dark Floors, Lost Boys: The Thirst (humourous but still horror without being too campy). I also just got finished with Red State which was quite good but it took a little longer, maybe 20 minutes, before I really started paying attention.

I'm about 1/2 way through A Touch of Crimson and hope to finish it up tonight. So I should be set for the next shelf announcement. I am going to select a ghost, male author, and vampire book so if those shelfs are announced I'm ready to go.

I'm liking this Graphic-audio thing. Although I could do without some of the sound effects of someone smoking or drinking. I have a thing about mouth noises like that. (yes I'm weird).

Looking up B&N to see if it is at the local store. Crossing my fingers.

I need to do that with an audiobook I got from booksfree. I apparently downloaded disc 8 twice and not disc 9. Although I suppose I could just get it again and then just download the last disc. But that would take up over a weeks worth of my booksfree month with it traveling back and forth.

This was moving along about to be my favorite of this series when something toward the end blew it. The book itself recovered and I did enjoy it but still think I liked the first one the best. It's a little overly long (like most recent Ward books) but it still was quick, entertaining reading. I really liked Veck but Ward generally does good heroes so that isn't surprising. Sophia Reilly was pretty surprising as she's a cop with no supernatural powers and Ward managed to make her both strong enough to seem like a competent cop but without tipping the scales to make her too much of a hard ass. (view spoiler) So although that jarred me out of the story and lessened my enjoyment of it, it wasn't a very big section of the book and didn't last long so overall I would have to say that I still really enjoyed it overall.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

This shelf gives TWO teams BINGO ~ Double Trouble (#2) and Serious Series Sluts (#3). But, Double Trouble first needs to get their 'dragons' stamp, whereas SSS only needs to read, rate & review their books for this shelf to win.
Good luck to both teams! Happy Reading!

I'll be using
