Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments I know exactly how you feel. I'm kind of hoping I can use it for the next shelf called... but I don't know/think it will fit.

I have waayyy too many books that I own that I haven't read. I think next year I am going to challenge myself to only read books I own and not buy books (unless I've already pre-ordered them) it's so ridiculous. I've pre-ordered books through April of 2012 haha plus I really have no room for more books! So I need to read the ones I have and get rid of the ones I don't want to keep.

That's exactly my problem too. I've got preorders in to March 2012 but I've cut way back. I'm feeling guilty cause there is way over 1200 books I've got sitting here that I need to read.

I don't have as many owned not read books as you (though I admire your ample supply) I know what you mean about feeling guilty. If I could I'd probably have over 1000 owned not read books, but, alas, I don't have the room. I told my fiance that when we get a place of own, whether it's an apartment or a house, I want it to have more than one bedroom so that I can convert one into a library. He laughs, but I'm serious. lol

message 765: by Lala (new)

Lala | 1065 comments Fool Moon (The Dresden Files #2) by Jim Butcher 03.10 *****

This one was really bloody and Herry got beat up a lot. I felt so bad for him :( but i liked how he came out in every situation. In this book i didnt see coming how things will end up and i like it.

Sandra | 25908 comments Kitty Raises Hell (Kitty Norville, #6) by Carrie Vaughn
Urban Fantasy 3/10/11 ★★★★

Following the disastrous trip to Vegas, Kitty & Ben are settling into married life, when a mysterious other starts attacking.

Kitty also gets friendly with a Paranormal Reality TV crew and they share the limelight by appearing on each others shows. It also helps that they have all cameras and microphones blazing when the entity appears and burns down New Moon.

With the help of her new friends, Rick and Odysseus Grant and also T.J's brother Peter, all is well for the moment, but we've met the Big Scary and he'll be back. He wants Denver.

message 767: by Zaanodes (new)

Zaanodes | 804 comments Finally finished Faefever late Oct. 3 ★★★

AAAHHHHHHHHH Cliffhanger! Dang it all! And the 'end'...ahem...well! Barrons and Vlane both missed out, didn't they! And Mac now has 2 addictions?? And what is up with Christian? So, guess I will be reading the next one, huh?

Lala | 1065 comments First in Series Beautiful Creatures (Caster Chronicles, #1) by Kami Garcia 10/04 ****

It was such a good read. i was mesmerized by this book :)...Who knew that so many secrets can be in one little town.

message 769: by Dana (new)

Dana (erato) | 922 comments Sarah wrote: "Is that series finished?"

I'm guessing you mean the Dresden Files? If so, the answer is no. It is only about half way done. He just published #12 and the series is set for 20 individual 'case file' books and a huge trilogy ending. Soooooooo excited for the next one!

Yeah! Time for a "First in Series" stamp! :)

message 771: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments Dana, wow! I didn't realize that was such a huge series. I haven't read the first one although I've been told to pick it up. I do have the audio version because James Marsters (Spike from Buffy) does it and I love his voice!! Maybe I'll have to give it a shot one of these days.

Oh, do! Love me some Harry!!

message 773: by Dana (new)

Dana (erato) | 922 comments Aren't they great? Jim Butcher is a fantastic writer. He outlined the entire 23 book series while taking a writing class or something. Can you imagine being talented and creative enought to plan, even the most general, plotlines out 23 books into the future? The dude has skills. :)

message 774: by Lala (last edited Oct 04, 2011 12:58PM) (new)

Lala | 1065 comments i have read so far two books, but i love it :) and i have heard that it gets even better :)

message 775: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments That's crazy! Plus he had to assume that the publishers would want all 23 books! I couldnt imagine ever planning a series that large. Hmm maybe I'll pick it up for the next shelf call - if it fits.

message 776: by Dana (new)

Dana (erato) | 922 comments That is what his agent pitched to them apparently. 23 books. They didn't contract for all of them then, but they knew going in that this was a 'long haul' series. I bet anyone that turned him down weeps every time another one of his books comes out! hehe

message 777: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments Haha so true! Oh well maybe next time they won't pass up a good thing when they see it just because it's a 'long haul'.

message 778: by Dana (new)

Dana (erato) | 922 comments Laura wrote: "i have read so far two books, but i love it :) and i have heard that it gets even better :)"

They do get better, for sure! The first few rely heavily on the 'case file' feel. Once you get a few books into the series though, you really start to see the extent of the entire world that Harry and Chicago are only a part of. The Dresden Files are like an institution of their own. :) I think the reason that I like these so much is that they are just really well balanced. They have a bit of everything in them.

message 783: by Zaanodes (new)

Zaanodes | 804 comments Someone check to see if I am correct...

If it is 'series to read' or 'speculative fiction'...we got it! If it is 'trilogy' a 3-team race is on.

Sandra, I know how you feel, I don't want it to be over either!

message 788: by Dana (new)

Dana (erato) | 922 comments I know! And I am guessing that since it is so close to the holidays, Steph won't start it up again until after... :(

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments Anyways, I finished Truthseeker by C.E. Murphy.

I'm giving it 3 stars. I liked it but I'm not sure how much. It wasn't keeping me on the edge of my seat but I continued with it anyways. The end was exciting though so I do want to read the next book which I have to review for a website. I didn't really like Lara, I liked her best friend Kelly more. I think there was just way too much going on. I don't really like the hero either, I kind of like the other male leads better.

Truthseeker (Worldwalker Duology #1) by C.E. Murphy

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments Hmm it's seems I have one book that I own that will fit for dragons. haha I wasn't planning on reading it this month but what the heck! haha

I'm going to read Kiss of Fury by Deborah Cooke
