OK, so I'm reading Lover Mine right now and here is my favorite...

Hharm

Really? Two 'h's? :) At least the girl is consistent!

message 704: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Lol! Dana, are you serious? I haven't got that far in the series but that is hilarious! My sister in particular finds the names hysterical but I'm trying to persuade her to give the series a chance - I think the names just add to the whole charm of the books, they wouldn't be the same without them ;)

message 705: by Dana (new)

Dana (erato) | 922 comments Oh, yeah. The 'h' business is everywhere. But I like it too. ;) Part of the charm.

message 706: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL! They (h's) are everywhere. I'd love to know if there's a story there or just something she started and couldn't stop doing.

message 707: by Dana (new)

Dana (erato) | 922 comments They are like the basis for her BDB language it seems. All the "Old Language' words I have seen have an 'h' in them (if memory serves). Kind of like how other languages rely heavily on certain letters or letter combos. Like so many Italian names end in 'i'...that kind of thing. I wonder as well if there is a story about the importance of 'h'.

BETTER Review!!

Curran is looking more interesting than in the first book. Kate is still a little grating but seems to be growing on me. It was the epilog that REALLY hit the spot! Will definately be continuing...No 'psych' this time!

Rosina | 1714 comments Just took a cruise around the other teams cards and there are a few teams (including us) that have 4 in a row. I couldnt see that this shelf would get any team a bingo. We have 3 shelves that are 4 in a row so depending on shelf called for next week we could pull it off.

Have a great week reading everyone!

Sarah, hope school isn't overwhelming you.

Dana, thank you for telling us about the Jim Henson Challenge.

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments I've been overwhelmed a lot lately but I've realized I need to really keep to a schedule (which I haven't been doing). My sleep schedule is totally wacky, I've gone to school twice so far with no sleep (and it wasn't because of homework). Plus, I need to figure out how to divide up all my time between all the school reading and enjoyment reading, because although I'd love to study all the time (haha) I do need time for myself. :)

Sandra | 25908 comments Hounded (Iron Druid Chronicles, #1) by Kevin Hearne
First in Series 26/9/11 ★★★★

Oh to be 2100 years old and look 21. Our hero Atticus O'Sullivan is a Druid. A being who uses Earth Magic and magical swords and has magical friends. He also has magical enemies and a love/hate relationship with plenty of Celtic Gods.

Those Celtic Gods are pretty nasty and no doubt they'll make an appearance again as well. All the fight scenes were well handled too, with help from werewolves and a friendly witch.

I enjoyed this book but it was so obvious to me that it was written by a man. Not just because we have a hero instead of a heroine but in the way everything is described. Most of what I have been reading lately has been written by women, but in my younger days I read a lot of stuff by men.

Everyones reviews of this book all mention Oberon the Dog and I must admit he is hilarious and I am looking forward to reading more of Atticus and Oberon.

Finished Sept 26, 2011 ★★

Well. I have finished this. I hope someone can tell me that these get better. Evil vamps that whine?? Not for me.

Sandra | 25908 comments Well, Zaanodes, I enjoyed them, but it is a bit of fluff :)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments I finished Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins I gave it 5 stars.

Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, #3) by Suzanne Collins

I was completely taken off guard by how the trilogy ended. I am sad that it's over but so happy that all those terrible things are done for. I think between Gale and Peeta the author made the best choice, not just because I agree but I think it was the best choice for Katniss. I don't think the other person would have been the best for her. So many people died, I was taken aback by that - even though a lot of people have died in both novels but more specifically the people who died was the shocking part. What Suzanne Collins created with these books was amazing and I am so happy that I read them.

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments Me too but hopefully she'll still write and come up with something else that's great! But I think it'll be hard writing in the shadows of The Hunger Games.

I like fluff. Maybe it was my mood. I almost always read 2 or 3 books before giving up on an author or series.

I have found that I like a lot of the same books as you so I will definitely give it another shot.

Dana (erato) | 922 comments I decided to read Dragon Bound for this week, and man am I glad I did!

Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1) by Thea Harrison 09/27 ★ ★ ★ ★

So many things to like and praise about this book. I enjoyed the main characters and found them very beleivable. Pia had moments of doubt and felt the need to run, but managed to keep off my TSTL meter. Dragos was true to character; meaning, he was a total barbarian. True, he softened a bit, but never to the point where I felt like saying OH PLEASE!

The supporting Characters? Great lineup here. Loved the guard team! As well as the different courts of Fae, Tricks is a scream all on her own, and the Wyr-mink was a hoot! :) I really like Quentin at Elfie's too. One smooth fella.

The story line was awesome! Really a fun world built up here. I like the elder races set-up and finding out how many different type os wyr there are will be fun as the series progresses. All together a good solid read with lots of promise. :)

What a bloody good story! Adventure, romance, magic, history , humor, steampunk. Great characters. the author certainly knows how to write and really captured the feel of the time period and the locations. I have never been to the Gobi desert but she captured it perfectly from the pics I have seen. Introduced the characters for the next few stories and cant wait to read about their adventures. Visualized the main character was Hugh Jackman and oh my the sex scenes were just yummy thinking it was Hugh. Will definitely read the other stories. A great fun read. Recommend it.

Yay Zina, I liked Warrior 4 stars worth, but I might have made it 4.5 if I'd thought of Hugh Jackman. *sigh*

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments I finished Glass Houses, I am going to give it a 4 out of 5.

I was concerned because it's vamps and like I've said I'm trying to avoid vampires at all costs but I'm also trying to get down the amount of books I own that I haven't read. Anyways, I loved this! Rachel Caine made vampires scary! There is no sexy time going on in this book between vamps and humans or vamps and vamps. That's not what this is about. Vampires are mean, and evil! I loved that Caine paid homage to King by having them live on Lot street. I found that very ironic! I liked Claire, Eve, Shane and Michael. There was a big cliff hanger so I'm excited to find out what happens in the next book! Which luckily is apart of the copy I have since I have volume one of the series.

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments haha yeah I had to finish my book and update all my challenges for the month before I get too far behind! I don't have class till Tuesday so I'm playing catch up right now before I have to get back to studying :)

Plus I need my palette clear for the shelf call just in case it's a BINGO option!

Sandra | 25908 comments Good planning!

I've got Vol 1 of Morganville Vamps as well, though I've only read Glass Houses out of it so far. Must try and get to #2 soon. Though I have so many books to read it's becoming ridiculous.
