Their neverending pasta bowl is good.

message 154: by Jammies (new)

Jammies Barb, nice work with the paint, and your daughter is adorable. Can you ship her to me next winter when it's time for me to paint?

message 155: by Karen K. (new)

Karen K. Miller (karenkm) | 140 comments Once I was moving into a new office and the manager decided it should be painted pink. "Oh, it will be a nice soft shade of pink." HA. It was Pepto-Bismal Pink. To make matters worse, the office was only big enough to fit a desk and one file cabinet. I couldn't stand it and demanded it be painted a better shade. It twas better when they repainted it, but it was still pink. PINK. Not the most professional of colors. Or a color that you would want to have your office painted if you wanted to be taken seriously.

message 156: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) That sounds more like a closet than an office.

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments This is very random, but I just found out today that the Lego Harry Potter years 5-7 video game is coming out in November. I'm very excited, I love the first one (although I still haven't beaten it).

message 159: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Holy Muggles, Batman.

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments Ok, I wasn't really sure where else to post this, but I'm very excited and had to put it somewhere: I have a job interview tomorrow!!! I know I should stay calm since it's just an interview, but the prospect of leaving this place has me all giddy.

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments That's great news, Amber. Good luck!

message 164: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) Crossing my fingers for you Amber. :)

message 165: by ~Geektastic~ (new)

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments Interview went well. If they like me, I'll have a follow-up on Monday. Their office is so close to my house I could walk to work!

message 166: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) How could anyone not like you?

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Glad to hear the interview went well, Amber. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

message 169: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments I just had to have a new lock installed on my front door. The previous one had died of old age.

We're going to have to do that at our place soon; the stupid thing is always sticking and I'm afraid I'll get locked out with my key.

message 171: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments That's what happened to me this afternoon. Lucky for me I didn't lock the door properly and the guy from the DIY around the corner helped me break in with some wire before installing a new lock.

message 172: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I think the best way for a door lock to die is of old age.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Bully for me! I worked in the garden for four hours today--Boy, am I going to be sore.

message 176: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I walked to Iowa today. And back. Over the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge.

message 177: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Neat. I like the curved walkway.

That is a beautiful bridge!

message 179: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) It really is.

message 180: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments that picture isn't real.

message 181: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) No, it's a designer's rendering. But that's what it looks like.

message 182: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) This is a real picture.

message 184: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i don't think the second picture is real either

message 185: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Is too.

message 186: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) That first picture looked like it was out of some futuristic novel about an antiseptic joy joy society.

message 187: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) ^^^ :)

message 188: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Oh, Janice. You're right. It does.

message 189: by Laurin (new)

Laurin (llooloo) | 1867 comments Ugh. Since this is the "random" thread, I figured that this was the right place to vent. I hate when you're playing games on threads, like "Have You Read...", and people don't play! The thread is NOT for posting "[insert quote here] OMG, blah blah...". Either you continue the string of posts, or you go away.

*Sigh*.

message 190: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Larry wrote: "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Kerr..."

Very cool Larry! It is OK to bike on the bridge, or is it restricted to walking/running?

message 191: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Bikes are allowed! No skateboards or motorized vehicles.

Right now, though, the gate on the Iowa side is closed due to the flooding of the river. So you can't legally get to the trails on the Iowa side.

message 192: by Tom (new)

Tom Foolery (tomfoolery) | 107 comments Falls Park on the Reedy River in Greenville, SC, has a somewhat similar but smaller curved pedestrian bridge. It's nice in that it gives you an elevated and unobstructed view of the falls, but it means you have to walk further when crossing.

message 193: by ~Geektastic~ (new)

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments Follow-up interview today went pretty well, although I was more nervous this time around. I like the idea of the job being close to home and the company doing similar work to what I'm doing now, but they are going to be very, very demanding and I don't know how much interest I can maintain in recruiting staff for financial companies. Lots to consider this week while waiting for their answer! If only I could find a job close to home that had more to do with my interests, but the market sucks and my town is really small.

message 194: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Great that they called you back for a follow-up, Amber, even though it might be a tough choice if they offer you the job. Hope you can sort out all the pros and cons. Good luck!

message 195: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) good luck, Amber. listen to your intuition.

message 196: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments Sorry, late to the celebration Amber, hope that you get to make a choice. Options are always good.

Angela~twistedmind~ (twistedmind) | 538 comments Finally feeling better after the pancreatitis then the cold that set in before I was completely well. Been a busy bee today trying to catch up on all the household chores that I neglected last week. Still alot to do but I'm content. I've gotten quite a bit of it done and I still feel fine. Woo Hoo!! Funny to be excited to feel good enough to do chores rather than using any excuse I can find to get out of it.

message 198: by ~Geektastic~ (new)

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments Glad to hear you're feeling better Angela.
