A pretty birdie came and pecked his eyeball out.
Bobaline just sat there. He didn't care about the bird, he didn't care about the popular kids, or even the pie! All Bobaline wanted to do was crawl into a hole and die.
The birdie sat on his head. "Why so sad?" it asked, as the eyeball rolleddddd away and got eaten by bugs.
"I don't have any friends and I have an unfortunate haircut," says Bobaline.
The birdie zapped him. "Now you have cool hair!"
