I don't think so. That would be a part of Amazon Prime if that's true, but I don't think it is.

That is exactly why I put down the warning. Everytime I see another free clowns in the attic I get a scare.

-->Nicolette--I guess if your savings is greater then the $25 membership fee for the year, then it is well woth it!

I have a membership and I think it is worth it. About every 2 weeks sometime smote if there is a holiday near they send out coupons. Normally like 20-40% off, and that is onto of your discount for being a member. I think it is worth it because I buy a lot of books and memorabilia and what not. I love my membership.

Otherwise, I raid my daughter's enormous stash - she alone keeps Barnes and Noble in business! Thank God she has a membership. Remember, if you order on-line always google for a coupon, she almost always saves additional monies that way. Oh, and members always get free shipping. Membership well worth the yearly cost.

bookstores/used bookstores, public library, sometimes online (when I don't have money left and time to look for something).

I have a Nook. I download ebooks from the library or download free books. I will sometimes buy ebooks I can't get from the library from Barnes and Noble. i also occassionally pick up paperbacks from stores if I see something I haven't read that is not expensive.

Fiction has free will, though. Online I usually stick to Amazon, but in the real world it might be Waterstones or an indie shop or the library on wherever I have the urge to spend some more money on yet another book :)
Matthew Turner

but sometimes i'm really cheap. I will go on B&N and look at new releases, get them from the library and if i like them i usually find them on half.com for less than $10 including Media Mail.

Barnes&Noble, Library, Thrift Stores, Yard Sales, Flea Markets, friends, and family.

I purchased a Kindle 6 months ago and I love it. It's light and won't have its corners bent in my handbag! Unfortunately, there are not a lot of books available in french and they are a lot more expensive (at least double the price of english books).
I still purchase ballet books in bookstores or websites (Paris Opera boutique for example) because they usually have photographs and make superb coffee table books.
For french books, I go to Renaud-Bray (they advertise as the biggest french bookstore in North America) and for english books I will go to Indigo and Chapters downtown in Montreal.

I hear you! I'm in France and ebooks are so expensive compared to the ones in English!

It's the same with printed books...
I tried to use "reply" and paste what you wrote, but it only pasted the first part of your post, which was... what I had written!

Yes it's always like that. We are used to it! If you want everything I said to appear you have to copy and paste between the italic tags: <*i*> paste here <*/*i*> (stars shouldn't be there)

I gave and donated my printed books away, only kept some and mostly young adult ones for my kids when they are older.
I like libraries but I don't like the feeling of time constraint on borrowing books.

Amazon is a big one for me too. I liked to buy books used (who can beat 95 cents?!). I also have a kindle so I can get a lot of classics free for Kindle and with my Amazon Prime membership I can rent books. I love Amazon.

Amazon is great. However the loan library is not that great!

Margot, you pay a fee per year and you get free shipping (almost always) and you access special services depending on your country. It's great!

Thanks Vanessa

Thanks Vanessa"
I know that amazon France always offer free shipping for books. Being premium is only interesting if you buy other types of goods. :)

I hate borrowing books, from libraries or from people. I just like, need to have the opportunity to write in them (even if I hardly ever do)
When I was in London I spent a lot of time in used bookstores though. Got a lot of cheaps books there!

I get most of my book from Chapters and Indigo (Canada). I also get my books from Ebay. I usually wait a few months after the release date of a book. That way, the price is much lower and there aren't too many people bidding on them.
Wishing you all the best! :)

I find this a fabulous service and saves me heaps of money.

That's very smart on your part, Sharon. Libraries are there for this very purpose. If someone chooses not to own books, borrowing them at your local library is the wisest approach. Wishing you all the best! :)
