anybody working on any major papers, assignments, etc.?

I'm currently in the middle of writing a business plan for my boutique in my entrepreneurship class, a strategic plan for my other business class, and a critical analysis paper for my issues in contemporary lit class.

Janet I have 130 hours observation hours in an elementary school classroom. That includes lesson plans, papers, and a huge case study; on top of 4 other classes. I am very motivated though to get through this! I feel if I can make it through this semester, I can make it through anything! Haha. It's all just to help me be the best teacher I can be! :)
Good luck everyone on all your exams and projects coming up!! I'm sure you'll all do great!

Bree (breezybaby) | 144 comments i have this huge paper due by tomorrow! I haven't even started it yet!! yay for procrastination. Finals start soon though!

message 9: by Lynnie (last edited Dec 08, 2008 02:20PM) (new)

Lynnie We have finals this week! I have an audiology final in about an hour and I'm nervous!! People get mad at me for freaking out b/c they think I ace everything (which I don't) but yeah, I'm probably blowing it out of proportion.

I kinda love the craziness of finals week though. SGA sponsors late night study in the cafeteria and we have subway night, pizza night (tonight and I work it), and wings night. And most depts have some sort of coffee or candy or something out. (I don't count calories during finals. hah) AND this year they have 15 min massages in the campus center!! I'm signed up for a session tomorrow. I've never had one before.. I'm so excited!

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
omg haha Lynn..I always get the same thing from people if i freak out about a paper or an exam..they are always like SHUT UP you will get an A anyways..first..not true..i'd have a 4.0 then now wouldn't and secondly..if i do get an A..its because i worked my butt off!

i'm so jealous that your school does massages during finals week! that's awesome..we generally have some sort of breakfast at midnight during finals week..which is fun..and reallyy good..and free. haha. some departments do different things..doughnuts and coffee before finals.

I'm just finishing up a final and a paper that is due tomorrow and then i'm done!

when do finals start for everyone??

message 11: by Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner), The Founding Bookworm (new)

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
ooh good luck on your final tonight Lynn!!

message 12: by Lynnie (new)

Lynnie thanks yall!! I think it went ok. The teacher likes me so I feel like I can't get a bad grade in the class even if I didn't do spectacular on the final.

My next final isn't till tomorrow night and it's Children's Lit which probably won't be too hard.

Jamie, it is our curse as good students I guess! haha. People get so pissed at me b/c I'm like "Ohmygosh yall I totally failed" and I'll get an A or a B. But to me a C is failure so I guess it depends on how you define it.

Ashley, I'll let you know how the massage is. I've been dying to have one for years (and this urge is always around finals time haha). I'm always hunched over my desk, nose about to touch the paper, scribbling away like a crazed person. My neck kinda hurts from doing that in Audiology tonight.

Does anyone else have finals this week?

message 13: by Allison (new)

Allison i'm in the middle of two huge projects.
i'm an education major (seems like there are a few of us)
and have a health education unit plan due, and a pioneer cross curricular unit which is focused around quilt patterns created on this super hard math software.
it sounds easy- but it's so much harder than i anticpated. but finals are next week and then i'm done! (until january)

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
wow seems like you have a lot going on Allison! Good luck! :)

message 15: by Janet (new)

Janet Finals are this week. I have my first one tomorrow. The I have my math final due on Wednesday, which I haven't started! Haha. Then a case study on one of my students due on Wednesday that I am almost done with but it's just about 30 pages!! Ahhh, took a lot of work! Then my last final on Thursday!! So excited. I should feel really stressed about this week but I don't, in a way. Haha :)

Sounds like everyone is super busy too!! Good luck!!!

message 16: by Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner), The Founding Bookworm (new)

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
good luck Janet! You can do it!! Sometimes its just better to not feel stressed...even though you should. that happened to me alot this year. especially when i read twilight in about a day while trying to do one of the biggest projects of the year..haha..i should have felt stressed for sure..didn't..felt very at peace with the fact I spent more time reading Twilight. :)

message 17: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) Everyone is so busy! Good luck everybody on your finals! This week is definitely the week from hell, but I'm taking it a day at a time so I won't tear my hair out. Lynn: good idea, taking up the free massage offer! My school does that too, and I've always wanted to do it, but I just never have! Tell us how that goes. Jamie, I always find myself reading books other than the ones I should be studying for my finals! It never fails. There just comes a point where you have to say "Screw it, I need to forget about my life for now and get lost in somebody else's life."

message 18: by Lynnie (new)

Lynnie Janet, I have a math final Wed too! But it sounds like yours is take home (LUCKY!!!!) I'm only in College Algebra but it is so hard for me. I totally screwed up logarithms on our last test so I got a C! ugh. But we get a cheat sheet for the final.

When I have a big project due soon, I have this problem of throwing myself 100% into something that doesn't need to be done for awhile or some mundane detail, like the design of the project rather than the "meat" of it. Or I just throw it to the side and read or something. I'm glad I'm not the only one! haha.

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
haha Lynn I do that too..for my last big project..i was working too hard on the graphics for my powerpoint (which ended up being amazing I might add) then actually spending alot of time working on my presentation!

good luck with finals everyone!!

message 20: by Bree (new)

Bree (breezybaby) | 144 comments wow..everyone is so busy!

Lynn & Jamie..I do the same thing. I really spend too much time on something that does not require it..or i read or do something i shouldn't be doing. oh well..thats the fun of college life.

message 36: by Janet (new)

Janet I just got a grade back on a project and got a 30 out of 50. So I went and talked to the professor and he is letting me redo it since I talked to him about it. I am just upset because I was supposed to be done with finals on Thursday but instead I have to work on redoing this project!! Ugh!

message 37: by Molly (new)

Molly (slinkyxo) | 153 comments I feel like I am being slammed with work right now..anybody else?

I have a stupid group project to do and I hate it! I also have a research paper and a book report. blah blah blahhh.

message 38: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 143 comments I'm being slammed with work also. I have this huge project to work on plus a few tests this week. I don't know if all my professors just meet and decide to have everythign all on the same day/week..but this is ridiculous.

message 39: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (rachelsherman) Try having a prof that has ridiculous deadlines, cuz they just happened to tell you that you have to write a 20 to 25 page research paper on the 1st day of class. Then by a week later, you had to have 10 to 15 sources picked out, then 3 weeks later having an annotated bibliography done. Then I have about a month to get my presentation set up, and most of my paper done. This is all awhile getting our portfolios on pieces that we have never done before done within the matter of a couple of weeks. And my research topic is concerning the Treaty of Lisbon for the European Union, my sources now have been changing about every month. Then add in anthropology class and lab, sociology gen ed, political science research methods and stats, as well as creative writing to be topped off with planning for spring semester, preping for my other research paper (that needs 3 documents roughly translated from German), as all as writing up my independent study for spring. Thus having a crazy time this fall, not to mention having to find a job, apply for May graduation, and trying to figure out what to do after graduation.

So, honestly, you guys aren't the only ones going nuts.

message 40: by Ashley (last edited Nov 02, 2009 04:45PM) (new)

Ashley (readerandwriter) MIDTERM time for me. Got a Geography midterm... the take-home portion is due next Monday, the in-class portion is on Wednesday. Gonna get the 2nd take-home test in Math on Wednesday. After all that it will just be finals at the end of November/Early Dec. Wish me luck.

Sounds like you bit off more than you could chew.

message 42: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker Schoolwork would not be so bad if I didn't have this thesis. Or maybe if I didn't have my other classes and just had my thesis. I really do need to buckle down and finish my thesis. My overall goal is to be done by Thanksgiving. I think I'll be able to do this after baseball season and after I friggen finish Anna Karenina, because that's a huge monkey on my back.

message 43: by Kayla (new)

Kayla | 604 comments At my school, a thesis paper is optional but about 1/3 of the students decide to do it anyway so that they can graduate with honors. I'm still deciding whether I want to or not. I'm a sophomore, so I have some time to think it over.

message 44: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (rachelsherman) Acutally Ashley, I planned my last year here very carefully with help from other professors so I wouldn't be overloaded before I graduate; but what wasn't planned on was my professor for my Pol Sci Capstone Seminar. The other professors within the department even admit that her deadlines are ridiculous and that she doesn't even take into account students other classes or work.

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
Wow Rachel! Good luck with everything! After this semester you are going to need a nice little vacation! :)

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

Christmas exams are in less than a month. For the first time ever, I have four 100% exams. Scary stuff. And I have two god-forsaken AWFUL essays due in in less than two weeks. Plus this is my final year of college, so everything I do this year will go towards my degree. No pressure. None. At. ALL.

message 47: by Bárbara (new)

Bárbara (leviathan_) I'm awfully busy. I'll have to give in a paper about NATO in less than a month, then 14, 15, 16 and 17 of December I'll have tests that are 50% each, and a final paper to give in the 18th, which I'll have to do a presentation of December 9th. I'll have one exam in early January, which is also 50%, but I'm pretty positive I failed the other test... so... yeah.

message 48: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker I have a ton of things due in the somewhat near future. They're all due around the same time, but none of them seem pressing yet. I need to get a move on because I have to finish my thesis, read 4 books (3 of which I have to write papers over), and study for finals.

message 49: by Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner), The Founding Bookworm (new)

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
Wow! Good luck everyone! You all sound busy!!

message 50: by Leanna (new)

Leanna (leannerd) | 46 comments I have to write a close-reading paper (5-7 pages) on a poem for British Survey. I have to revise a paper and write a parody poem due after Thanksgiving break for American Survey. I have to write a paper and work on a group project for Women's Studies. I also need to get to work on a 7-10 page research paper for my Global Perspectives class. Also, a 2-3 page paper for Art History.

Uggh. Only one thing is due tomorrow, though, so I'll probably blow a bunch of it off 'til later. :D
