((but America is HUGE so there would have to be more criminals than a tiny island like Singapore... Unless I'm thinking wrongly or whatever =P And I really wanna go to America... Especially for Disneyland! Lol, you post first at ocean or me?))
Naseem was scanning the shelves, not reading the spines or titles. Not knowing how, anyway. He was trying to look for that certain book, the book that brought him here.
Rosa walked around the library trying to find the book that she needed. She sighed and looked at the spines f each book.
Naseem kept looking from aisle to aisle, coming up with a blank on every turn. Not paying attention, he walked right into a girl.
Rosa stepped back before he could touch her. She looked him over and said:"Kill or not to kill? That's the real question." she chuckled at her own joke.
Naseem held up his hands and stepped back as well. "Not kill would be preferable."
Naseem lowered his hands into the pockets of his shorts and smiled. "Well now that we know we prefer the other to live, sorry for almost walking into you."
Rosa nodded and went back in searching the book. She sighed and walked around the stand that was filled with books. She grimaced and jumped up to the next floor. She took a hold of the floor and turned herself in the air. Soon she was on the second floor.
Naseem watched her jump, whistling. He continued to comb through the shelves, putting his senses out for anything suspiciously resembling a soul. "Now if I were trapped inside a book, where would they hide me?" he asked himself.
Rosa glared at him and continued her search. Then she caught a glance of a black with gold spine book. She frowned and walked over to it. She took it out and opened it. She shook her head and put it back.
Naseem wasent to the far corners of the library, some books thicker than the trees they were printed on caught his eye. He squinted his eyes at the titles and kept moving.
Rosa sighed and shook her head. She won't find it here. Unless.... She smiled and whispered a spell. Books and pages responded. She smiled and walked towards the next stand.
Naseems eyes widened as her spell reached his floor. "Good idea, lady." He tweaked the spell on the bottom floor until the books could manage speech. No all he had to do was ask. "Where are you?" he asked them quietly, ears strained. At first he didnt hear anything, then on the other side of the library, he heard his mothers voice.
Rosa walked over to the stand and skimmed through the books. She looked at each page of each book. And at last she found it. She smiled and looked at the book's title. She nodded and took the book.
Naseem punched the air, "Wooo!" he yelled triumphantly and followed the voice as he ran. Getting to the shelf, he looked up. He heard her up at the top, making decide to choose the form of a bird. He flew up quickly until he finally located what he had been looking for for months.
Rosa walked over to the table and placed the book in front of her. She chanted over and over again some words in her language. The mark in the book started to glow. She smiled and continued. As she was done, the mark lifted off the book and went at her. She frowned as it placed it self on her heart. She felt a stab and grimaced. She bent over and felt darkness pouring into her. She smiled.
Naseem gathered the old, leather bound book in his talons and swooped back down to the ground. Setting the book down carefully, he changed back to his human form and tried to blink the eagle eyes away until they were normal. He switched off the talking spell with a snap of his fingers, then began to get back into his clothes.
Rosa shuddered and sighed. This was going to take longer than she thought. She grimaced and sighed. She got to wait.
"That... was far too easy." Naseem ran his hands over the black, cracked binding, over the letters that were a mystery to him. "You better be legit or Ill burn you." he said to the book and tucked it under his arm.
Soon it was done. Rosa smiled and a mirror appeared out of thin air. She picked it up and looked at herself. She got marks around her eyes. She sighed and mirror disappeared. She looked at the book and sighed. The marks disappeared soon. She felt that. She took the book and went over to the couch.
Naseem walked over to a reading table and gently set the book in the middle of the table, circling around it as he eyed the cover warily. The book should be dangerous if it could trap his mother like that... but only if it was the real thing. He tsked, "No, he had to have been lying... these things only happen in fairy tales. This could just be a trick while shes dying in a locked room somewhere." he said casually, then stopped. "Well... for old times sake, nothings impossible." he picked up the book again, rubbing it three times.
Rosa opened the book again and said a spell. It became thicker. She grimaced and opened it. She began reading and remembering everything that was in it. Then she looked up. She saw that guy with an old book. Somehow the book looked very familiar. Rosa shook her head and walked over:"Are you going to open it or not? Cause if not, I will."
Naseem frowned at the book. "Ill open it, calm down." he said without looking up and set it back on the table. He pulled and the cover, but it wouldnt open, wouldnt budge. "The hell?" He tugged at the book but it wouldnt give. "Theres no lock or anything." he said, annoyed.
Rosa looked at the book and her eyes glowed a bit. She sighed shaking her head:"A protective spell. That's all."
Naseem stopped wrestling with it. "Ahhh, thats easy." his eyes flashed and purple as he poked and prodded at the spell, breaking it after a moment. As soon as the protection snapped the book popped open and pages fluttered everywhere.
Rosa shook her head:"I guess you are stupid."
She waved her hand at the pages and they came flying back into the book. Soon they became attached to the book.
Naseem shrugged off the insult and flipped through the pages, frowning. "Its a dud." he growled and set it back on the table. "You can have it."
Naseem sighed and rubbed his forehead. "Look, this is really degrading, but... You know the disney movie Aladdan?"
"You'd be surprised how many people dont." Naseem shrugged. "But thats not the point. My kind are like genies... but not so stereotypical. And some guy thought it would be hilarious to trap my mother in a book like Genie was trapped in the lamp. So now I have to find her."
"It was vaguely black and old... like this one here," Naseem gestured to the dud. "But apparently he sent out a few duds because he liked to screw with me. And... I cant find it by title because... here me out: I can't read."
Rosa looked at him wide eyed:"You can't read? Ha!"
She smiled and said:
"I will help you. Okay, now let's see how many old books does this library has."
She said the same spell that she said before and library responded. Rosa sighed nodding. She picked up her book and began walking.
Naseem nodded to her and quickly caught up so they walked side by side. "Thank you."
"Welcome."She sighed as she reached the old section. She bit her lip and said:
"Okay."
She wondered about few stands and kept looking.
"Let me know if you find anything relating to Saleema, her name, djinn, jinn, or Naseem." He said and was off, combing through aisles again.
Rosa stuck her tongue at him and continued searching. Soon she bumped into some book. She frowned and tried to open it. It didn't budge. She smiled:"It."
"Find anything?" Naseem called as he heard her mutter something, only a shelf away.
Naseem hurried over to her side and looked down at the cover. His hands traced the silver letters etched onto the cover.
"Do you know what it says?" Naseem asked hopefully.
"Well, can you open it?" he asked.
"Brilliant." he kept staring at the cover with a hopeful look in his eyes.
