I didn't think Twilight was bad. And Breaking Dawn DID meet my expectations. I expected it to be almost exactly like it was (xcept for the whole jacob book, and Bella's power).
Ok. I'm actually going to take a few minutes to comment on my disappointments with the books.I really liked the books, but as they went on, Stephenie made the characters SOOO extreme! She made Jacob a stalker & Edward a controlling, overbearing boyfriend (that shouldn't be a girl's dream man). I just couldn't take it!
I was very disappointed about how she ended this series. I feel that she may have need one more book to finish it out. It just felt like she crammed everything that she thought everyone would want....marriage, baby, vampire....into this book to just be done with it.
Oh well! I guess everything can't be perfect.
i thought it kinda dragged in the middle (when bella was pregnant). and what is up w/ the end? no big fight? it was so boring! but i loved the beginning (1st book, bella's POV).
SM said she couldn't name it something normal like "Ashley" for her own reasons that i can't remember...
she should've done it (if she wanted a strange name for her) Carlie Renesmee Cullen. instead, of Renesmee Carlie Cullen.
i don't knowi think renesme's better than carlie though
carlie is... i don't know
but it reminds me of why stephenie didn't name alice i think, carol
just too plain or something like that
OMG DISSAPOINTMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i hated it because there was way to much of jacob. And it wasnt about bella and edward anymore, just renesmee and jacob. And there should have been more jane, i am sorry but there should have been a fight seen, I DONT CARE IF GOOD PEOPLE DIE!!!!! Fight sceans are the best and not to have one is really dissapointing. And they didnt have like anything on bella and edwards relationship! (yes i know i already said that but i need to rant on it) I mean bella is like half dead half the time!!!!! How is that supposed to help the story!?!?!?!? And it is great and all that bella is a vampire now but u know it could have been better, i mean she isnt supposed to go hunting with her daughter who is 6 months old and her x-boyfriend who i personally hate!!!! STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID!!!!!
I slightly LIKED it because of Jacob!!IMAGINE, if the book had been as long as it is, and it had JUST BEEN BELLA. O M G. I don't think i would've even been able to finish it!
I completley agree about the lack of a fight scene. That was seriously dissapointing. It seemed like Meyer just skipped over it! As if she couldn't be bothered to include it. And she includes SO MUCH OTHER UNNECESSARY RUBBISH, i just can't get my head around how she could've done that!
Also agree with you on some of the scenes just being wrong. Ok this book is not exactly "realistic", but going hunting with a 6 month old just doesn't fit. It's just stupid.
i hated that there werent any cute romantic moments b/w bella and edward. they just did it over and over. gross and boring...
heck no! =) it wuz freakin awesome!
YES!!!! I AGREE!! READ WHAT I HAVE TO SAY!!!The Volturi didn't live up to the violent expectations I had for them... )=
Also i hated J Jenks. That part made me puke a little bit.
But some parts were great. Out on their own.
WHAT SHOULD OF HAPPENED:
The last part should of been Jacobs POV about how Edward and Bella all perished in the evil, violent, and interesting battle with the Volturi.
Alistar and Jasper Should of decided they were gay and left the Cullens.
Jake should of imprinted on Alice.
Harry Clearwater should never have died, Charlie should of STOLEN Sue Clearwater from him. (that part was too happy for my liking)
Jacob and Rosalie should of been left to raise Renesmee together after her parents died.
JUST MY IDEAS!!
OH AND ALSO -
the only parts i liked were isle esme, (hee hee) most of jakes pov, and that part where edward goes insane.
I LOVE WHEN EDWARD LOSES ALL OF HIS MARBLES AND IS ALL LIKE,
"JAKE- SHE CAN HAVE PUPPIES IF THAT'S WHAT IT TAKES!!!"
hee hee hee puppies!!!
I loved that part. All other parts were pretty much crap, but it had some good quotes and Dramalicious scenes. I have actually read fanfics that were written than BD.
SMeyer rushed it too much.
But I am tooo crazy in love with Twilight to hate her for it. )=
*TWILIGHTTWILIGHTTWILIGHT*
CHEERIO, MY TWILIGHT-TASTIC AMIGOS AND FELLOW BD HATERS AND LOVERS!!!
wow fifi....that was funny! :p i liked when bella let edward into her head by using her sheild thingy, and i liked the wedding(i'm a sucker for weddings :p)....
Ok, finally a place I can talk about my dislikes about Breaking Dawn and not get put down (hopefully). I was so disappointed in this book.Firstly, So much of it was unbelievable. I hated "Renesmee" I know it's original but SM, you gotta do better than that!
Also the characters changed which affected the feel of the book. They became out of touch with what we're use to. Characters are suppose to develop but they should have over the course of all 4 books. Instead, SM had Bella (and everyone else) evolve in one book and it made me lose faith in them. I felt like the story I was reading had entirely different characters.
I agree with you Vivian, the Wedding was good and so was Bella's ability to show Edward her thoughts. Edward asking Jake to sleep with Bella is a big No-No. Sorry it doesn't happen! The Volturi stand off was a complete disaster! In a book you have a build up to a climax then a wind down to a resolution. What SM did was build a huge climax then had a free fall back to the bottom. Within one page the 'conflict/mystery' of then entire 4th book was solved! It shows serious lack in SM's talents. Also Bella... I know we all love Bella but throughout the entire series she made no sacrafices. When you write a book your main character has to sacrafice something in order to develop! Bella got to have her cake and eat it too! I know we don't want to see these things happen but you need it! It's one of the fundamentals of writing! And that is what makes the book unbelievable and I lost faith in the series.
I still love Twilight (up until Eclipse.) Breaking Dawn was a HUGE let down! She should have spent more time on it. I don't know if I will ever pick up that book again.
Sorry guys...
I think Bella was pretty much an idiot in that book.Reasons y=
#1: she is whinney
#2: she is possesive
#3: she is ungrateful
Proof:
~he is always complaining about her relationship with Jacob, but when he gets what he wants (Renesmee) she gets mad! I mean, hello!
i agree with most everyone here about breaking dawn being WAY to drawn out, someone should have died....no offense to the jacob lovers but i think it would have been awsome to see him risk his life for Reneesme!!!!
Oh come on, i loved the part when Edward told Jake to sleep with Bella! He is going to regret that later...
"She can have puppies, if that's what it takes."
like, WTF, SMeyer?
But it was so dramalicious. I cant help but love it!
I agree with anyone who didn't like BD. Nothing interesting happened it was like the worst book ever! Okay so first, ABSOUTLEY NO LOVE BETWEEN BELLA AND EDWARD! The wholed time Edward was like ashamed off himself for having done that to Bella.Ugh. That's liek waht the Twilight univerese revolves around.
Secondly, hello, SM broke her own rules! she said that vamps couldn't get pregneate, but there she goes getting Bella pregnate with the weirdest pregnency ever! And how she has to drink blood out of a cup, eww.
The ending was horrible! First they spent like half the book preparing for a war that never happened beacause they just "talked it out". Did anyone else think the ending was way to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows? Hello? Love shield! Harry goes and places a "love" shield around everyone he loves because he sacraficed himself for them. That's practically what Bella's power was. LOVE SHIELD!!!
And don't even get me started on Renessme. Ugh! Worst name ever. Okay. Carlie was cute, but renessme was just werid. And how Jacob imprinted on her, eww. Why can't Steph make anyone fall in love with their own species.
And finally the worst line was so not what Fifi says. The worst line was when EDWARD CALLED JACOB HIS SON!
Er. I missed that. What page? I have to go read it.
I completely agree with you, Karina.
The Volturi let me down.
Renestard was, well, Renestarded. (i stole that from lolly)
Edward completely lost his marbles (that part was fun!)
LOVE SHIELDS are so overdone!
Exactly.
But you've got to admit, every time Bella says "Holy Crow!!" you have to cringe.
And that time was the worst.
The only other line i ever had a problem with (apart from BD) was that part in New Moon where Ed + Em were all like "KNUCKLE TOUCH!!"
Ok, they didn't actually say that, but they did it. They said something worse like "Good plan, my brother." or something.
I don't remember, when I find it I'll tell you. I remember it was there beacuse I had a huge decossion about it in my debate class. The NM line was okay. It wasn't the most memeroble line I have to admit that.
It was a complete let down. Almost everyone was out of character. Not enough Alice and Jasper. Only thing I really enjoyed was the Jacob and Rosalie banter. Puppies!!! really?
THANK YOU!! finally people besides me and my friend think the BD sucked!! i'm sorry but it was all so predictable and stupid!!
I found the page where Edward calls Jacob his son. its on page 723 of Breaking Dawn towards the bottom of the page.
its says "Goodbye Jcob, my brother....my son."
GAG!! stupidest line ever!
I know! I thought I was the only one who thought it wasn't very good. Yeah. I found it too, just now. Worst line ever!!!!!
i agree with those who said that it didn't quench their thirst because it did not for me. breaking dawn had potentail to be the greatest out of the series but it did not. came nowhere near. i felt that the descriptions we unnecessary, for example meyers spends about 50 or so pages on jacob doing patrol rounds and she also introduces many different characters that have all these awesome powers but in the end they dont fight. i think the editors let lose a little too much with this book. but it was okay for me.
i know! like they was hardly anytime for hte characters to develop, and the new introductions were so quick, like you hardly heard about some of them again.
I think Breaking Dawn met more than my expectations, it was a good book. Very sweet and real. Stephanie made it sound so real, I almost believed that there was an Edward and Bella relationship somewhere.
The writing style is totally different than the other books. I feel like everything was resolved too easily. Charlie was just too cool with it. No father would be like that with their only daughter. The whole Jacob/Edward problem was also too easily resolved. It's like she threw in the baby just for Jacob. I did like the book, but it could have been better. I really didn't like how they got married so soon into the book. I really thought that it would take some time.
So far I am HORRIFIED by Breaking Dawn. It may be my last Stephanie Meyer book altho I liked the first three.
One problem was Bella spent a whole 15 something page chapter just explaining the burning venom coursing through her veins. That got irritating didn't it?
I actually didn't mind Renesme. I loved Jacob's point of view. But when all the odd vampires that we've never heard of before showed up, I started to loose interest. I didn't like the anticlimactic fight scene, I didn't want any Cullens or Jake to die, but some should have. She only had a mental shield on them so it could have been good. I did miss the romantic elements to Edward and Bella's relationship, but they were newlyweds so I get that.

"after reading Twilight, your expectations must've been pretty high."
Twilight wasn't good either! I'll admit I quite liked New Moon and Eclipse, but Twilight wasn't too far away from being just as bad as BD!
