I ♥ Luke Castellan *Alexa* (i_love_jacob_black_95) | 3164 comments Sadly I do not think it was as good as it could be. I didn't like the lack of action, and what is up with Bella? Renesemme??

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey at least the name is original, you gotta' give her that much lol

message 4: by I ♥ Luke Castellan *Alexa*, and Twilight! (new)

I ♥ Luke Castellan *Alexa* (i_love_jacob_black_95) | 3164 comments That is true, very original. But NESSIE!? Cute, but I feel bad for her. I mean if you were named after the Loch Ness Monster, that would be kinda messed-up.

message 5: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellerobins) what i want to know is why theres a whole controversy over it, or however you spell it. we were having this whole huge debate over it in double english today, well, those of us who read it.

message 6: by I ♥ Luke Castellan *Alexa*, and Twilight! (new)

I ♥ Luke Castellan *Alexa* (i_love_jacob_black_95) | 3164 comments It's Renesseme. I have the book now.

message 7: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellerobins) o-kay. but renesme helped tie up a lot of the loose ends.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

I LOVED BREAKING DAWN!!!!!!!IT WAS MY FAVORITE, BUT IT SHOULD HAVE HAD A FIGHTING SCENE!!!

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

see I don't think it should have had a fight scene. some of the good guys would have died and that would have made the book even more of a tear jerker

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

very true

message 11: by Bleuciel (last edited Sep 21, 2008 06:53AM) (new)

Bleuciel Samantha, what do you mean 'more of a tear jerker'? When was BD a tear jerker in the first place? I mean if one perused the contents and saw the last chapter is called 'Happily ever after' what doubts could one have had that it wouldn't end well?

BD wasn't as much a disappointment as it was anticlimactic. And to this add the poor editing, the out of character lines like Edward's to Jacob 'my son' (wth?!) and the whole Disney fairy atmosphere that wasn't present in the first 3 books. Everything was too easy and too dragged out.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

I found Breaking Dawn a little gross when Bella has Renesmee and it agree w/ Bleuciel, it had very poor editing. I thought the whole book would be of Bella's POV but Jacob's was somehow added to the book. Not that I didn't enjoy Jacob's perspective (He was funny!) but I expected it to be different. I didn't understand why Edward called Jacob his 'son'. But the book, in a way, was good, but a disappointment to me.

message 13: by Bleuciel (new)

Bleuciel ^I think he called him 'his son' because Jacob had imprinted on Reneesme and will someday be his son-in-law. Nevertheless, it was still lame and out of character. I mean, the guy spent almost 3 books hating his guts and now all of a sudden, just because he loves his daughter they're best pals?! Not to mention that the line in itself was extremely cheesy and cliche.

message 14: by Vivian (new)

Vivian | 326 comments i thought breaking dawn was just really dragged out, and nothing very exciting really happened... and was it just me, or did stephenie make edward seem different in BD than in the other 3 books? and there weren't any of the cute parts where it was just edward and bella together, except when they were on the honeymoon...

message 15: by Daisy (new)

Daisy I know Edward was very different.

message 16: by Vivian (new)

Vivian | 326 comments ok, so it wasnt just me... :)

message 17: by Daisy (new)

Daisy no it wasn't just you but it was like all weird he was... un-Edward like kind of less reserved I can't quite put my finger on it.

message 18: by Vivian (new)

Vivian | 326 comments he was more uncareful(does that make sense) like he was not as composed...

I ♥ Luke Castellan *Alexa* (i_love_jacob_black_95) | 3164 comments Edward WAS diffrent! He didn't seem as... Edward-like... something was... diffrent... I mean yeah he wasn't as carful, but something else was diffrent.

message 21: by Vivian (new)

Vivian | 326 comments yeah...i cant put my finger on it....

message 22: by Vivian (new)

Vivian | 326 comments it was like his and bellas relationship completely changed in BD. it wasnt as sweet and cute, it was more forceful and i think it kinda seemed weird compared to how they were in the other books

message 23: by I ♥ Luke Castellan *Alexa*, and Twilight! (new)

I ♥ Luke Castellan *Alexa* (i_love_jacob_black_95) | 3164 comments Yeah it wasn't as sweet and happy-go-merry. It was more serious and scary... if that's marrige, I'm never getting married!

message 24: by Vivian (new)

Vivian | 326 comments haha nice...

message 30: by Daisy (new)

Daisy That is an intresting question. Oh! this will sound wrong but I wonder if she fantasizes about Edward

message 31: by Vivian (new)

Vivian | 326 comments wow...that would be really weird...for her husband...

I ♥ Luke Castellan *Alexa* (i_love_jacob_black_95) | 3164 comments I know! WHO DOESN'T!?

message 33: by Daisy (new)

Daisy I want to know what kind of underwear edward wears! because it never says. He could wear boxers or breifs or a thong or he could go commando.

message 34: by Cira (new)

Cira (loveistheanswer106) | 22 comments I was really diappointed. There were so many things that went wrong. I didn't really like Bella or Edward. They totally changed. There wasn't any cute parts where they were just holding hands or just kissing. They were always doing it, and sm couldn't describe that or it would have been way too weird (although I know a lot of people wanted that part to be VERY descriptive. Not me.) Another thing is the ending/climax. I wanted them to fight! I wanted, and I know this sounds horrible, characters I loved to die. I wanted to cry, or feel something. I didn't feel anything at the end. It was SO cheesy, which is in total contrast to the first three. It dragged on & on and led up to... nothing. Happily ever after? Are you kidding me? Eclipse was so real, you can't get everything you want. There's always consequences. I think what happened is she tried to please EVERYBODY by letting all the characters live and be happy, and she really didn't please anyone. Well, a lot of people did like it, but I think a lot more were at least a little disappointed. Jacob saved the book. His perspective was the best part. And I absolutely loathed him before. How screwed up is that? I think Edward wears boxer-briefs too :)

message 35: by Cira (new)

Cira (loveistheanswer106) | 22 comments *disappointed

message 36: by Madison (new)

Madison | 2 comments The book was disappointing it didnt have the same feeling as the other books and it really didnt meet any of my expectations its kind of like Stephenie Meyer lost interest in her writing or is that just me???

message 37: by Diana (new)

Diana | 2 comments ok i haven't read the book but i want to know wat happened between Edward, Bella, Jacob, and who's Resemme?
Can someone tell me how the book goes?
Where Edward and Bella happy?

message 38: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey (kelseynicole) | 52 comments ahh no i wasnt dissapointed. i think that if she would have killed any of our beloved cullens that i would have possibley burnt those books. lol i am glad they turned out the way they did. because i mean..who would want any of them to die? that would just leave everyone upset. =(

message 39: by Diana (new)

Diana | 2 comments who knows where to read this book online????

message 40: by Vivian (new)

Vivian | 326 comments i agree completely cira!! :)

message 41: by Vivian (new)

Vivian | 326 comments yay! joe jonas!! sry, but i like nick better :) but i agree! BD wasnt great

message 42: by Vivian (new)

Vivian | 326 comments yeah! like BD seemed to drag on, but the other 3 i couldnt put down and get enough of.

message 43: by $tepanty (new)

$tepanty | 1 comments Breaking Dawn was so ZZZZZZZZZZ! I didn't like the no violence or that they kept on mentioning about sex and hardly describing it. I foudn that so annoying, like snicker snicker sex kind of thing. Blegh I hardly liked the book at all, I kept on reading it to see if it were to get any better, but it didn't. It was way too cheesy for my taste.

message 44: by Amy (new)

Amy (boymom9) i'm not totally finished with BD but i have to admit that i'm not so sure i like it as much either. the honeymoon part was pretty good, just romantic and since i just went through that i think it's why i liked it. but yeah, afterwards it's like everything was so gloomy and bad. nobody was having fun. and there were no edward bella parts cuz rose was in the way all the frickin' time. i did like the mix between jacob and bella POV but i'm anxious to finish and see how i really like it. it sure did go on and on. i almost wanted it to end with her becoming a vampire on their honeymoon and us not actually getting to see her life as a vamp. at least that's how i woulda finished it.

message 45: by PandaRanda (new)

PandaRanda The whole "Edward changed" thing...well of course he changed, because Bella changed. He didn't need to be super protective over her anymore or treat her like some breakable thing, because, well, she wasn't. He still did when she was human, and you definitely see that Edward to begin with, but Bella becomes virtually indestructable and immensely stronger than him so he isn't wrought with the idea of her snapping like a toothpick anymore. Why be over-protective when protection is no longer needed?

Also I don't think Edward ever hated Jacob's guts, sure he was terribly jealous and vexed at Jacob's seemingly childish behaviour and inappropriate fantasies, but Jacob helped him out a lot and he was grateful for that. Towards the end of Eclipse he sort of bonded with Jacob, and he said himself that he would consider Jacob as his friend if the circumstances (whole supernatural thing) were different. He invites Jacob to the wedding and he gracefully allows Bella time with Jacob. Then when Bella is pregnant, Edward obviously needed Jacob, badly, and there was a connection between them because they both wanted the same thing, and wanted to protect the same person. Jacob became less hateful to Edward, and vice versa, it wasn't JUST because Jacob imprinted on his daughter, obviously he was pretty annoyed about that. Jacob may have found it hard to acknowledge Edward as a friend, but Edward didn't really. He could never hate anything that Bella loved so dearly...his whole universe revolves around Bella...*rolls eyes* So it wasn't a big hurdle for him to accept Jacob as his friend, and potential son, and I suppose that Jacob is like a son to him, or a boy or whatever, he is over a century old, not exactly young himself.

But it is true, Edward isn't really a star in Breaking Dawn, his presence is somewhat lessened and overshadowed by other things like Renesmee, Jacob and Bella's transformation. There definitely weren't any heart-wrenching romantic scenes in the book and he was more or less ignored...which was kind of sad. I think there was too much happening and not enough slow, alone time for just the two of them, apart from the honey-moon.

message 46: by Bella (new)

Bella | 1 comments Sadly, I really disliked Breaking Dawn. I hated all of Book 2. It all seemed so unnecessary. It was way boring. I read it more out of necessity than an actual desire to see what happens. Like many others, I was sorely disappointed with the lack of fighting at the end. And Renesmee really freaked me out. Also, after Bella is a vampire, it is all so superficial and shallow. Half of it is about how they all look.

message 47: by Hannah (new)

Hannah (hannah7299) I hated the pregnancy and Volturi part, but I actually liked how it ended.

message 48: by Julia (new)

Julia B (juliayb) i wish bella had had a bit more trouble as a newborn.

message 49: by Court (new)

Court i liked most of the book. except the jacob part.but i guess she knew tht it'd be real boring to hav to read 200pgz. of bella complaining about how much she hurtz and thinking about Edward and the only way she coode write about bella is from jacob's POV.
And I'm kinda glad that Bella didn't think about Edward as much and that he was a lesser character. If he hadnt been, then the book might've been really boring with her thinking about how "oh-so-perfect" he looks. We've had tht for the past 3 1/2 (the half is for the beginning of Breaking Dawn) books. We already know how perfect edward is. And I might've stopped liking the books if this one had been like those.
I didn't like the name they picked for the baby though. Couldnt she have done Carlie Renesmee Cullen?? Carlie Cullen sounds a lot cooler than Renesmee Cullen.
And I didn't like the build-up to a fight that wasn't going to happen. It made like 4 chapters almost completely pointless, to me.
But I'm glad that Bella didn't have trouble being a newborn. That would've been dull to me.
And I don't understand why Edward called Jacob his son??? Doesnt make any sense to me.
The ending was expected. Not that it was the best one. But it was the one that keeps everyone wanting to read more, kind of. But it might've been better if they'd all died or sumthing and they all lived happily ever after in umm... where ever vampires go after they're dead. However, that would've made a buncha ppl hate the books, soooo it couldnt end like that.

message 50: by Diana (new)

Diana (higura_natume) | 7 comments Let's first acknowledge that after reading Twilight, your expectations must've been pretty high.

The only thing I'm really mad at Stephenie is for ruining Edward's character. It got worse and worse as the story went until in BD when I started to like Jacob better.

But the ending was too happy. I'm not asking for too much, just a little more of a sacrifice from Bella? The only thing lost in that book was Irina and I bet Bella doesn't care any about her.

But if we were going to get a book from Renesme's POV, the ending's not suitable. Renesme should've really gone with Jacob if Stephenie was going to do that.
