Thanks for your concern, J.A. It worries me, too. Should I put on something clean?

Angela, it really was the oddest thing EVER! I know we haven't been doing the show that long, but all of the ones we have done thus far have been "flawless" I use that word loosely, or at least we didn't have any technical difficulties! LOL

JG made sure we had quite an exciting show! :)

message 161: by Angela (new)

Angela Smith (dandilyonfluff) | 144 comments Lol... I haven't gotten to the end, but it was really weird all that happened. But hey... perfection is boring. Who remembers any of Janet Jackson's concerts... except the one with the wardobe malfunction ;p

Angela Smith (dandilyonfluff) | 144 comments Awesome! I will see if I can't figure out how to do it live this time! If not...I'll stalk again. The shows have been great ;D

I am an official fan of JerbilJabber ;p

message 171: by David (new)

David Santos (authordas) how are these interviews done, do we need a mic or cell phone or two cups and string? ha

message 172: by Amy Eye (new)

Amy Eye | 1841 comments Mod
Two cups and a string is my favorite way to do it, or you can hold a lighting rod with a few bunny ears taped to your head! :)

Actually, the only thing needed to be on the show is a telephone. We make it very easy at JournalJabber! You should listen in on the show and see if it is something you are interested in applying to be on!

If you listen and decide it could be the show for you (or you have an author you would love to hear on our show), send me an e-mail at amy@journalstone.com and I can provide you or your favorite author with the steps that would need to be followed to be considered for the show! :)

Angela - I hope to see you there tonight (for you - this afternoon! LOL) We are soooo happy to have you as a fan!!

message 173: by David (new)

Don't worry David. You obviously have access to the internet, so just get a Skype account. Who needs a phone?

message 175: by David (new)

David Santos (authordas) I have a skype account and have 2 mics. I'll send an email.

Thanks for having me, Amy (in a metaphorical sense, of course). It was a great pleasure.

BTW one of the listeners asked about our huntsman spiders. If he/she is worried about arachnids, this is one they needn't be concerned with. They're ugly, but totally non-venomous to humans. Unlike funnel web spiders, and red-backs.

Cambria might like to know that a few years ago there was a song in this country about someone who was bitten by a red-back while on the toilet.

One of the first things I wanted to see when I got here was a redback, and they are gorgeous! Like regular black widows with racing stripes. I was there for the interview, but never did get the sound working. Next week I will... for now I will go listen to the archives ;p

Actually, Angela, red-backs are supposed to be related to black widows. Legend has it that a few of the latter made it to Oz in supplies brought for the war effort (WWII that is) and mated with red-backs, producing a new breed called white-tailed spiders. They are particularly aggressive, and have a very poisonous bite.

I love spiders, and I know it seems dangerous (I have no children around) but the widow spiders make great pets. Interestingly enough, the redback and the black widow are on the same egg laying cycle (spring for here and fall for the states) I've enjoyed all the spiders here, but I wasn't crazy about finding a huntsman on the wall as big as my hand before I'd had my coffee!

Redbacks have traveled to Japan in wood shipments I was reading... and it's causing confusion because Japan had no venomous spiders up to this point, and the japanese name for redback is the same as another native spider there that is safe. They are so interesting...

They can give you a shock if you're not expecting them. When I was in Darwin our house was occupied by a big huntsman with only five legs -- 2 on one side, 3 on the other. Because the kids complained of being frightened, I caught it one night and carried it outside. I freed it in a tree about 30 feet from the house. It didn't like that idea -- it beat me back inside and disappeared before anyone could catch it again.
We used to see it after that from time to time, but it stayed well away from us.

message 184: by Angela (new)

Angela Smith (dandilyonfluff) | 144 comments My husband caught ours in a cup and I took photos and then set him loose outside. I'd swear he eyed me up and down before casually strolling away. I guess when you're that big you do what you want ;p

Splitter, remember, she can always go back and listen to the podcast over and over and over and over...or make you do it until you can perfect the accent.

Remember everyone, if you are going to enter the ghost story contest for the show, get it in to me before the 9th! That is when submissions will be closed and I will have 2 impartial judges pick our winner!!
