Yup, I think she should be Pet. But I like Max Irons as Jared. Totally gorgeous! XD I just wish that Ian isn't Jake Abel, because then, Jared would look better than Ian, and I'm supposed to be Team Ian all the way! :D

The cast for The Host is all wrong!! like REALLY wrong. and thats not right at all!!! couldn't they find someone better???
None of the actors fit the images in my mind..I just have a bad feeling about this movie.
Saoirse Ronan's class but TOTALLY wrong for the part! Melaine's supposed to be all tough, sunkissed and wiry! I know she's thin but not athletic enough! Nd Jareds so wrong too! :/

I could see Blake Lively as Mel. For some reason Mel's description kind of reminds me of Bridget from sisterhood a role that Blake has played.
I just read the cast, NO WAY!!! I didnt really want to see it because i thought it could ruin the book for me but now I would never watch the movie!!

Andrew Niccol is writing the script and directing. He's very talented. He did the Truman Show and Lord of War.
Who cares about the cast?! I'm so glad this is coming out! I loved reading this book, but I read it so fast. And I'm not one to read books twice. So, I want to watch the movie to "reread" it....STOKED
OMG!! they are making a movie!! wow, that's great I love the book I can't wait to see the movie. even though I'm not digging the cast, the book was great they might be able to pull it off..
I was a bit sceptic about Saoirse Ronan as Melanie at first, because I just couldn't imagine her being bad-ass like I thought Melanie was. But after watching "Hannah" I totally think she can pull it off
If the casting rumors turn out to be true... I'm not watching it.
I'm actually quite happy with the cast. I've only been impressed with Saoirse Ronan's ability. Jake Abel is an excellent actor also. He was in "Supernatural" and I noticed him next to Jensen Ackles ad Jared Padalecki (and that's coming from a HUGE SN fan).
Max Irons is hot but I've never seen him act.
My only concern is that Jake's onscreen persona isn't like Ian and that most people will find Ian tougher than Max as Jared but since I'm Team Ian I have no issues with that :)
ugh so dissapointed in the movie cast! Especially who they chose for Jared!! He was horrible in that Red Riding Hood movie, and I really havent seen him in anything else. The guy they chose to play Ian isn't too bad, but still could have done better. I agree with the people who say its going to be another failure :[ ..

To everyone else, I think everyone needs to chill and give the movie a chance. Also people panicking about the 'looks' of the actors, do some background research into the movie. Saoirse is an Oscar nominated actress, William Hurt (Uncle Jeb) an Oscar winner, and Andrew Niccol an Oscar nominated director. The movie looks very good to me so far, there's no other YA (yes I know TH is supposed to be adult but I don't buy into it) adaptation that has such credentials. Maybe THG but it doesn't have William Hurt :P
They should cast slightly older actors for the three main parts. Like Jensen Ackles for Jared's part...

Is it just me or do they really not know how to portray the characters right from Stephanie Meyers Books? I mean first of all They got almost all the characters wrong in the Twilight series and now they want to cast the girl from the Lovely Bones as Melanie! I like her as an actress but I think she wouldnt suit Melanie well. I guess its mostly just because you got that image of the character in your mind for so long before the movie comes out and then once its unveiled thats who they want to cast most of the time I end up dissappointed. Oh well I know I will end up seeing the movie.;)
OOOOHHHH MYYYY GOOOD!!!!!! they messed up bad. i mean why would they used those people, if i was Stephenie Meyer, which i am NOT, i would totally like sue those people and then some. they just murder the book with the cast,i mean not hating on them people cause i love the lovely bones(tear, tear) but she is not a good choice for the movie.... although i could be wrong since the girl playing katniss in the hunger games was not the one for the role either but then she turned up okay, so you know this could be the case. but if not then i am going to be majorly pissed cause this book was freakin awasome.

they just need fresh faces seriously, im tired of seeing the same faces in theater.....when i see an actor/actress in a scary movie and then they act in a comedy, i just feel like its unrealistic and not believable because ive seen them before! and idc if they did good or not, its just not believable. FRESH FACES all the way! no one in Hollywood could ever fit the descriptions of the characters in The Host

havent read this in awile but wasnt Melanie ment to have brown hair and olive skin (or am i thinking of some1 else)but i think they got the casting spot on for every1 else :)

The cast is so off it's not even funny. Normally characters grow on me after a while, but THIS? this is completely unacceptable. To whoever choose the cast, whether it be Stephanie Meyer, the director, or someone else: Thanks for officially ruining the movie for me and everyone else because of your crappy selection of the cast. Really, you're to kind.
Hopefully they pick new people - I also thought they would be older . Anyhoo, I'm still really excited about the movie :)

I know this always happens as people were up in roars about Jen Law and Kristen etc but this is just awful. This casting is all wrong and I agree I'm sick of seeing the same people in movies all the time etc. I won't be going to watch this unless someone else is paying, no doubt Ronan is a great actress I do like her but she just doesn't do it for me. I'm sure regardless of those who are not feeling this it'll go on to make money any way but this is just my opinion.
They should've went with unknowns on this or even someone who looks like Sophia Bush that would've been good. Irons is way too young here, too bad Chris Hemsworth was busy he def could've took on this part. They went too immature here to snag the teenage girls when in reality this is supposed to be a more adult novel. Disappointed but wish the cast/crew the success anyway I'm sure they have all been working hard.

Is anyone mad about Jamie?! He seriously looks like a 10 year old! I know the actor is really 13 in real like but he doesnt look like one and in the book I swear it states that he looks atleast 14...but I've only seen pictures of him so you never know i guess...

I must admit, when I heard about the movie and looked up the list I thought Saoirse was a good choice. (To me anyway) She fit well.Though the guys are a little bit too 'pretty boy' and not the way I pictured at all.
I'm excited for the movie, but like many others, think the selected cast seems too young. The trailer even sucks, but then, there's not really anything in the trailer anyway. On the other hand, many movies show a trailer that totally sucks so much, it destroys all expectations of the movie. And the movie turns out 10x better than you thought it'd be. Maybe that'll be the case with this movie.
