Thanks for the suggestion! I loved Hunger Games, in the reviews for Beyond the Night it was said that Joss Ware is a pseudonym for Colleen Gleason, and I loved the Gardella Vampire books

I keep putting off The Hunger Games, too! It seems like when I'm just about to read it, someone recommends me another book to read. Hopefully I'll have it read by the time the movie comes out though.

Doesn't it have a love triangle, though? Words cannot describe my hatred for the dreaded love triangle.

Jennifer (sadstrumpetjenny) ~Megan~ wrote: "Doesn't it have a love triangle, though? Words cannot describe my hatred for the dreaded love triangle."

It's not really a romance - so may not be as bad as you think. I mean, she 'chooses', but, well, oh, I think I will give too much away if I say anymore. (view spoiler)

Tammy | 395 comments ~Megan~ wrote: "Doesn't it have a love triangle, though? Words cannot describe my hatred for the dreaded love triangle."

The romance is secondary, so its not as annoying...I hate love triangles too. Like Jennifer said she does "choose," but in my opinion its a very believable situation ....I don't want to spoil anything so that's really all I say!

Rosebud (rosebuds) I really like Gail Koger's books esp The Warlord's Comeuppance by Gail Koger Just My Luck by Gail Koger . Can anyone recommend something along these lines?

This is a series I've been meaning to read forever, but I really dislike reading a series if it won't be finished for years. Cliffhangers scare me! Does anyone know if the three Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #1) by Stacia Kane are at a decent stopping point? I had read somewhere that it was meant to be a trilogy, so I'm assuming I won't be left hanging but I just wanted to check. The Fever series is one of my all time faves, so I'm always up for reading a similar series.

Not sure if these are quite the same but you might enjoy these (warning-a bit saucey):
Ral's Woman (Zorn Warriors, #1) by Laurann Dohner Kidnapping Casey (Zorn Warriors, #2) by Laurann Dohner Tempting Rever (Zorn Warriors, #3) by Laurann Dohner Berrr's Vow (Zorn Warriors, #4) by Laurann Dohner

Giddyup | 5 comments I hate cliffhangers as well. The Fever series was very stressful for me. It was a great series but the cliffhangers were hard.

Duchess Nicole, you'll be fine reading Unholy Ghosts. I love this series. There are three books already out. Just make sure you read them together. At the end of the 3rd one, it's NOT a cliffhanger. But I believe we will be getting two more books in the series this year. I can't wait. I just want to warn you that this is a very dark world the author has created. But it's one of my fave series.

Thank you so much! I'll bump them up my tbr, then. I'm not opposed to a dark series, as long as it's not really disturbing. I've heard these two compared a lot, so I figure it's time to read it.

message 65: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (sadstrumpetjenny) Duchess Nicole, yes, I have to chime in - you will be fine reading the first three. I am really looking forward to March, when the next one is supposed to come out, but not dying in agony like I was last January waiting for Shadowfever!

Yes I have read Perfect Chemistry and the rest of that series. She has another series that I have, but have not read yet...Maybe I should try that! Thank you for the advice.

message 92: by Julie (new)

Julie (musicaficta) Someone was looking for books similar to Dying Bites (The Bloodhound Files, #1) by D.D. Barant Dying Bites. The closest I could reasonably come up with is The Eyre Affair (Thursday Next, #1) by Jasper Fforde The Eyre Affair.

'The Eyre Affair' takes place in an alternate universe, although the heroine, Thursday Next, has not been transplanted. It takes place in a modern, though quasi-steampunk, Reading, England. There aren't any vampires or werewolves, but there are cloned dodo birds and Neanderthals, even though they've been extinct. There's also the danger of mega-corporations deciding you're too dangerous to society and 'erasing' your existence. But mostly, it's about policing the world of literature. (Some familiarity with the classics is necessary to get through these books.)

Oh...there's also not very much by way of romance or hot guys, but it is pretty humorous...

What about Suzanne Brockmann's Troubleshooters series? Amazing, and one of my favorite RS series. Also, I just started reading the Last Chance Rescue series by Christy Reece, and it's pretty good, too.

Missyb | 98 comments my first thought was If you like JR Ward's BDB then you'll like Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed. Actually that's how I learned about Adrian's series.

I also learned about kerrilyn Sparks Love at Stakes series because I liked the Argeneau series by Lynsay Sands.

Often I'll check out a series by an author whose comments are on a cover of a book I really like, or from a site that tells me what others have purchased that also purchased the book I am.
