message 106: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) Oh, I wish I could go! :( However, I'll be going tomorrow in the morning, hopefully! My brother and I will be seeing it in IMAX. CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!! :D

Kaleigh - Captain Bubbles ESTP(intj) (captainbubbles) | 1566 comments I'm not going to see it EVER. I don't like that series.

MythMythol (mythmythol) | 31 comments You don't like Bat-ManD: ?

message 110: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) Why not?

message 111: by MythMythol (new)

MythMythol (mythmythol) | 31 comments Yeah..Why not?...I mean...How can someone not like Bat-Man?

message 112: by Marlene (last edited Jul 19, 2012 05:04PM) (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) Maybe it's too dark. Some people don't like the dark superheroes, for some reason that I cannot fathom, although I try to be understanding. :)

message 113: by MythMythol (new)

MythMythol (mythmythol) | 31 comments Yeah..I guess soo. lol. But don't all superheros have a darkside to them...:]

message 114: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) True dat. We all have a dark side, don't we? Humanity is so fascinating that way. I guess that's what books, movies and TV shows try to capture - the many facets of a person's behavior.

If you want Batman "lite" check out the original 1960s TV show, and the Batman comics from about the mid60s to about the 1980s.

The Original Batman from the 1930s to about the mid1960s was kind of dark, then the 60s and the TV show lightened him up a bit and it wasn't until the Mid 80s when Frank Miller "rebooted" Batman back to his dark origins for the graphic novels "The Dark Knight Returns" and the 1989 Michael Keaton movie.

message 116: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't like superheroes in general. The whole good vs. evil is totally overrated in my book.

message 117: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) *chuckles* I see battles of good versus evil every day, and they happen to all of us. Maybe that's why I like superheroes so much.

message 118: by [deleted user] (new)

I like Marvel. Ya know, the Avengers. THAT. MOVIE. WAS. BEAST.

message 119: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) THAT MOVIE WAS DEFINITELY BEAST!!!! I got to see it on opening day (not at a midnight showing - I can't stay up till three to just to watch a movie) and it was incredible. I have developed a small thang for Hawkeye. :)

message 120: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, you silly girl, you! Hawkeye was definetly awesome, as well as the Black Widow. I mean, why haven't we heard of them before!?

message 121: by Marlene (last edited Jul 22, 2012 04:31PM) (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) I have, but I haven't read any of their comics. Hawkeye was briefly in the Thor movie, and the Black Widow was (of course) in the Iron Man 2 film. I went to see Iron Man 2 in theatres, as well - it was pretty cool! I don't understand why some dislike it.

message 122: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, the only other related movie I've seen is Captain America, which, for some reason, my French teacher showed us in class. I always thought that was ironic.

CaptKirk42 Classic Whovian (klandersen) | 1146 comments Mod
Hawkeye has been in the Avengers comics for many many years. During the 1980s there was even a spin-off series called "West Coast Avengers" and Hawkeye became the leader of that group.

I stopped reading comics in the early 1990s so I have missed a lot of the "newer" stuff of recent years which is basically just old stuff because since the mid 1980s it seems every 10-15 years they keep rebooting things to keep the comics current.

Ah, thank you, Kirk, for sharing you great wisdom.

That is putting it on a bit too thick, but thanks.

message 127: by [deleted user] (new)

Nothing's too thick! Except the Doctor sometimes....

Rosa Harkness - Jack's Epic Daughter wrote: "Nothing's too thick! Except the Doctor sometimes...."

Well, um yeah sometimes when it takes him 2.5 minutes to figure something out instead of his usual 15 seconds. OK those times might be exaggerations, but I think you get the idea.

message 129: by [deleted user] (new)

I do get the idea. For someone so brilliant he's soo.............yeah. I remember that scene in Smith and Jones where he's all "You're right, I look daft with one shoe."

message 130: by [deleted user] (new)

That part was awesome! After I watched that episode the first thing I said was, "So he doesn't wear socks?"

message 131: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) I thought the same thing as soon as I saw it! Great minds think alike.

message 132: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh gosh! I never noticed that! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

In other news, I'M GOING TO FINALLY WATCH SILENCE IN THE LIBRARY TOMORROW!! I'M SUPER SCHYCED!!!!!! FINALLY I GET TO SEE RIVER!!!!!!!!

message 133: by [deleted user] (new)

I watched that one last night! For some reason, it's creepier the second time though because you know what's going to happen but the timing in your head is always wrong.

message 134: by [deleted user] (new)

Hmmm. Well, now that I've seen it, I need to watch the next one so I KNOW WHAT HAPPENS! ARGH!

Kaleigh - Captain Bubbles ESTP(intj) (captainbubbles) | 1566 comments I know! You know what's going to happen... you curl up into the corner of your couch... holding the controls tightly in your hands... the Docto and the others stand in the room, and the Doctor says (SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN"T SEEN EPISODE), "There are 6 people in our group right?" River, "Yes."
Doctor looks at everyone, "Then why can I count 7?"
All turn towards the skeleton. Horrified. And you scream.

Kaleigh - Captain Bubbles ESTP(intj) (captainbubbles) | 1566 comments (I don;t remember the exact numbers, or how the quote went, I'm just doing this from memory. I might be a bit off with my words and numbers and all that.)

message 137: by [deleted user] (last edited Jul 31, 2012 01:45PM) (new)

I remember that part! Ohh, so creepy!!!!!

Or this;

You're curled up on the couch in the corner, pillows piled on top of you to "protect" you. The Doctor says, "Stop! I hate to say this but, (name I don't remember) , you have two shadows!

You gasp and huddle closer.

The helmet is put on and then it vibrates violently and you squeal then sigh. You got over that and then.....wait for it......THE SKULL DROPS FORWARD AND IT GRABS THE DOCTOR!! You scream and throw all the pillows off in mid leap for the light switch.

message 138: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, pretty much. I freaked. But on the good side..........River was cool!! I see why all of you love her!

message 139: by [deleted user] (new)

I know! River is all, like Amy said in The Time of Angels, "Heel Boy" (said in a seductive voice).

message 140: by [deleted user] (new)

Hehe. Pretty Boy. Hehehehehehehehheheheheh....

message 141: by [deleted user] (new)

message 145: by [deleted user] (new)

Oooooh, you MUST see it! It's epiiiiic!

message 146: by Terri (new)

Terri (terrilovescrows) | 38 comments I am waiting for it to come to the second run theater so I can see it on the big screen

message 147: by [deleted user] (new)

Movies are always better that way.

message 148: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't get why everybody thinks superheroes are so cool. Can someone explain that to me? Oh, and can the Doctor be considered a superhero? That would be my only exception.

message 149: by MythMythol (new)

MythMythol (mythmythol) | 31 comments I believe Doctor could be classifyed as a superhero.yes. Superheroes are just Aesome! They go and save everyone and they have powers and some can fly!

message 150: by Marlene (new)

Marlene Ocampo (seeyouspacecowboy) The Doctor can be considered a superhero. And superheroes are cool in the same way that demi-gods were cool back in Ancient Greece and Rome, and why "Beowulf" has endured for centuries.
