The rules for this group are simple.
1. No inappropriate language is allowed. There is no age limit here at Coffee & Books. So keep it to a PG-13 level maximum.
2. MUST put a warning in the title if the post contains spoilers of any kind about a book. In the monthly discussions, that is okay to not put it, maybe a quick disclaimer about detailed things at the beginning. It is just nice, so we accidentally don't stumble upon something our little eyes didn't want to!
3. We are not Gossip Girl. This is not a place for gossip. Gossip magazines aren't books. Check TMZ or Perez Hilton for the latest scoop xoxo
4. Stay active within the group. I know it is hard to get on daily... I don't even do that (but I do have the app!) But it is important to stay up to date. I try to give a far enough warning and timely manage the group!
5. Have an opinion! Don't like something, kindly say it. We wanna hear why you absolutely HATED Moby-Dick. Or if you couldn't stand Holden Caulfield! TELL US! But don't get heated if some one disagrees.
6. Be apart of the group challenges or group read! Get involved with us! You are here for a reason and trust me, we want you here!

Ahh, this is where you are, right right now! Which is a good spot to start! Read the welcome message. Check out the rules. Introduce yourself! Easy Peasy. It is like step one of the group.
Members
This is a little special place to add your birthday, tell us a lil about yourself through the specified threads. Like step two in the introductory stage- but Step two is the last! Now you can start checking out the meaty sections of the group!
Announcements
Simple. This is where I will make little updates which are not mass-message worthy. Every now and then new people will be added to the Moderator position and a post will go up. This is basically like the town hall message board. Here ye, Here ye!
Member Board
A place for the members. You can find a few posts about questions, updated or suggestions. A small place to start a discussion! So go ahead and start one!
Bookish
Chat about your favorite authors, post your favorite quotes and discuss bookish stuff!
Nomination Station
A little area that we call the station. It is where you can nominate the monthly book(s) for that specific month. Watch out- we sometimes have themed months! So make sure you double check what the guidelines are in the specific month! Also- Members may nominate one book, I will then post that you can go ahead and nominate up to two books! So look for those posts as well!
Monthly Reading
Here is where we have monthly discussions about the books we read as a group. There will be multiple options for books nominated and voted on by the members. Start by signing up in the sign-ups. You can see what books are there if you forgot! Then a discussion will open towards the beginning of the month!
Monthly Challenges
This is where we have monthly "mini" reading challenges. There is a category for each month and you post your personal books you like to read that fit with in the categories.
Other Group Challenges
This is where longer challenges are posted. Some will be yearly or seasonal. So check in with your status!
The Races & The Games
This is a sign-up team challenge that goes on. The particular titled challenge will be the heading of the folder. In it are sign ups, totals and discussions between the teams. Once teams are set, you may not sign up. You will, unfortunately, have to wait until the next race/game.
Book Buddies
Run by the BB MOD- Vanessa, this is where you can sign up for a book buddy each month. There you and your buddy will read the same book, post about it and converse with other members! It like a pen pal with books!
Suggestions
Simply put. Drop in a suggestion or recommendation!
Personal Challenges and Lists
Its a folder where you can keep your personal challenges listed down and keep track of them.
The Zone
The zone is a place for members to share and express themselves. We have a place for members to share their writings, poems, art, their personal blogs and so much more!
The Archives :
Old sign ups, book buddy posts, challenges; old topics graveyard, basically - but check the first topic as it will notify you when it was last "cleaned"!

The group started off as a small group with only ten members (Hi my original ten!). We were reading one book every two months or so, had small discussions and no challenges. Sooner than later challenges started popping up and more people began to find our little safe-haven. And now, it has grown into a huge community with over 1,000 ready-to-read individuals. Reading multiple books a month, doing themed challenges and having personal lists to keep yourself updated on not only this group, but other groups as well- we have it all. We welcome anyone and everyone who has a love for book and/or coffee, maybe even both! I know personally- I wake up with coffee in hand (yes, I wake up with a coffee because I need it haha!) and a book on my lap!
On behalf of myself and my Moderators, Teneal, Jennifer & Vanessa, I want to welcome everyone to the group. Here we like to think of it as a community, an online community, where we can get together, meet some amazing new people, read books, learn new things and just enjoy the time we spend here. Cheesy- I know, I know. But as you know I love my group and everyone in it.
We are happy to have all of you as part of our community here and we look forward to the years to come, the great reads and the roasted, black coffee stains that line our books!
