Causa Mortis | 1 comments Suzanne Collins is a better writer than Stephanie Meyer in terms of
technique. Also, Collins' characters are deeper and are motivated by more than the crushes they have on each other. Meyer's stories seem to be more like wish-fulfillment -- they often read like a Harlequin romance novel-- and not rooted in reality, whereas Collin's are far more reflective of the human condition. I realize these books have supernatural or sci-fi elements to them, but the best supernatural, science fiction, and fantasy novels are still grounded in reality and ring of truth. That's what makes Hunger Games so compelling; you fear for the characters as they deal with their horrific circumstances. I don't recall ever fearing for Bella and Edward and their friends and family; I never doubted that they would make it through to the end and be just fine. That really takes a lot of the suspense out of the Twilight books. They are okay, but they don't come close to The Hunger Games. I'd rate the Twilight books 6 out of 10. I'd give the Hunger Games trilogy a 9.5 of 10. HG is an instant classic.

📖 Yazzie 📚 (yazzy101) | 176 comments I actully didn't like the hunger games it was too violent for me, to depressing. The hunger games also has really bad romance in it, gale and peeta! It's sad I don't like him from the first time he was mentioned. I didn't like Jacob either but still. I will admitt the hunger games did have an interesting story I just didn't like the fact that half these kids wanted to go into the games and become murders and kill of who ever was in there way. An the ending to twilight had a better ending breaking dawn was much better than what I've heard of the last hunger games books.

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) =O I am shocked. I think Hunger Games is brilliant. I absolutely loved it and I am so excited for the movie

and I admit Mockingjay was not a great ending but Catching Fire I thought was even better than the first one

I think you have to look at it from their point of view instead of looking at the story from the pov of this world. They live in this terrible world where they are going to starve to death and going into the games is a way to save their family. It makes complete sense why they would want to

📖 Yazzie 📚 (yazzy101) | 176 comments Believe me I do get the fact where te hunger games is the only way if chosen. But I would have prefer if they were older, I understand hOw the games work, but who's so heartless that they can kill someone like Rue? I think the reason I didn't like the book was because of this fact, I didn't like how horrible this world is, and the fact that you can be the good guy in this book, because in order to win you need to murder somebody, it's sickening. But I will say besides dragging the story in some bits it it was pretty good and think if the author was a bit better at endings then I might have been much better. But the ending to all of them isn't a happy one! Just because she survives doesnt mean she's a good person, or that she deserves (spoiler) peeta (how could you not choose him his a sweety pie). And that might also be a reason why I didn't like these books so much, because I'm getting a bit sick of love triangles.

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) see i get why you don't like it and how sickening the world is but that's the whole point of dystopian books.
Of course she's a good person. Yes she has to kill people but she does it so that she can see her family and protect them again. It's the fact of kill or be killed and can you honestly say that if you were put in that situation you wouldn't fight back and you would just sit back and be killed.

📖 Yazzie 📚 (yazzy101) | 176 comments yer but at the end of the book she doesnt have a family to go back to

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) She doesn't know that's going to happen when she goes into the Hunger Games does she? She can't see the future and know what it's going to lead to. She does it to save Prim from having to kill people. I don't understand how you can say she is not a good person. Would you have preferred Prim having to go into the HG and die?

📖 Yazzie 📚 (yazzy101) | 176 comments Look I understand where your coming from, and I know that she did what he did for the right reasons, but still she did kill a lot of people an that whole book was based on people evil enough to send kids into a death match. And even though it was a kill or be kill consept, a lot of people in the book got killed for no reason like sinner. And I'm not saying she's a bad person I'm just saying she's not a good one either. She has blood on her hands that she can't remove. And no as I sai before she did what she did for the good reasons but that doesn't mean she left without a stained soul.
And you don't need to get to upset just because some else has their own opinion, you should respect it. Because I bet your not a twilight fan, the only reason I commented on this was to say what I thought about the hunger games. And I don't believe I've said anything you should be so caught up in. I understand you're a fan of the hunger games but I'm a fan of twilight. You know you could have easily called this group something else, how about why the hunger games is great! Why the hell did you need to bring up twilight, that's not fair on anyone. What if I started a group call why twilight is so much better than hunger games? And you can not say she was a saint. Otherwise your saying that killing people is ok as long as it was for their little sister.
All I wanted to say was that even though the hunger games was a good book, doesn't mean it couldn't have been better.

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) I wasn't getting upset I was just putting my opinion and saying why I thought that.
and btw I am a twilight fan too (well the books the movies r crap) but it was just a fun game we came up with to have some fun not to turn it into a freaking battle and I think you need to get over yourself love. How exactly was I saying it's okay to kill people. It's a different time and different circumstances and you need to look at it from that perspective not the perspective there is for our society.

📖 Yazzie 📚 (yazzy101) | 176 comments I know and I never said it was ok to kill people that was my hole point! And how was thing not some freaking battle when you name something like this, how hunger games is better than twilight,! Please of course you were asking for a fight! But I didn't start one. I just said that I didn't like the violence in the book and was really upset that rue was killed and this isn't a lovely good it's violent and sometimes sick! And this is my opinion, and if you had finish what I wrote you would see that I just wanted to say that they were good books but it was to violent to be great. I didn't ask for a fight! I just wanted to say what I wanted to say and if anyone needs to get over themselves it's you, love. And he does know what she's getting into by going I to the hunger games, It's live on tv every year! And the ending is not happy everyone dies, and she's having nightmares, you can not say that hunger games has a better ending than the twilight series!
And your asking me to respect your opinion, well I do and now it's your turn and you should respect mine. And if you were a twilight fan than you would respect and understand my opinion but you don't, so how is it believable that you are a twilight fan! And I never said is was acceptable to kill people you now you just agreed with me, therefore you must also admit that she's not much of a good person or that she does indeed have blood on her hands.

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) How exactly was I asking for a fight? It was just a joke and fun that we were having.

Well I'm done arguing my point, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

📖 Yazzie 📚 (yazzy101) | 176 comments Yer whatever next time at least pretent to be smart about group names.

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) Excuse me? How dare you say that to me. It was a freaking joke and said in the first comment it was just a game. If u cnt take a joke dnt comment on it!

Renée (maagtablet) wooooowww.... this is why I dont have many girl friends... Only girls can turn a healty discussion in a bitch fight....

Yasmin, I think you misunderstood Kay, cause she only stated her opinion. She never made it personal. You did...

And I think it is acceptable to kill people for the right reasons. Why would soldiers be hero's if it wasn't?

📖 Yazzie 📚 (yazzy101) | 176 comments Me? I misunderstood? I didn't misunderstand shit! She did! She started this fight I posted my opinion than she turned it into a bitchfest! Why don't any of you actully read what I wrote!?! And you would see that she decided to commet and bitch about my post! And why the hell are you ganging up on me!?! She's in the wrong not me! And in all honesty I wouldn't have written a post if I knew KAY was going to go all Argo on everything I said!
I thought this was a place where I could speak my mind and not be bullied! And look if you really are going to take her side than I have lost whatever feeling I ha for this book because you all seem like real bitches!

Oh I'm sorry I didn't read the very first post seven pages into this conversation! I thought you where just being a ass

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) No I would never do that, it was just a joke and a game after a conversation me and the other girls were having and none of them were serious reasons we were just having fun.

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) In my opinion..
Incomparable

Hunger Games is more of sci-fi/dystopian with a little romance while twilight is more of romance..and... Romance..

Hunger Games just started and Twilight movies are going to end.. lol

Zee I just saw how many posts in this thread and decided to check it out:)

AWWW, Yasmin it's okay! And Kay misconceptions happen!
Kayleigh has a big heart and will forgive you.(Right, Kay have I ever mentioned tht I love you;)
Besides, don't worry that happen a lot with me:)

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) I know and I like twilight as a romance book but I'm more of a 'action' kind of girl so to me Hunger Games is a hell of a lot better. Plus I don't really like the Twilight movies, personally I thought they ruined the books but I am ecstatically excited for the HG movie.

message 282: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) Though I haven't read Hunger Games. will get the book next week. The sets are out of stock :| Looking forward seeing it after I read the book :)

Hoping that they wouldn't ruin the book.

message 284: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) For me it was okay. nothing special still I prefer the book. but somehow it was improved on Breaking Dawn. :)

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) I don't like the movies at all for Twilight but HG looks exactly how I pictures it AND the author wrote the screen play as well

message 286: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) will just add.

HG is the beginning of new obsession. Goodbye Twilight!

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) I was never obsessed with Twilight. You know all the hype people have with Twilight? Well that's how I am with Hunger Games.

message 288: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) Neither do I, sick hearing my friend who watched breaking dawn for 6 times in different cinemas.. I think it's way better to be obsessed in HG than Twilight.

just like I've been obsessed with Harry Potter.

message 289: by Renée (new)

This is where you're wrong. Kay is one of the nicest people I know.

I on the other hand, am a real bitch, so please leave my friend alone, cause I prefer to read the rest of Daimon instead of arguing with you...

message 296: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) is there an advance screening of HG there in your place?

Kayleigh {K-Books} (kayley_12) Eh, I've been called worse. Do I come across as the kind of person who would care if someone who doesn't even know me calls me a bitch. Well... I'm not.

Lol Ren, <3 you.
Your reading Daimon? Really? Yaaaaayyyyy!

There's the midnight showing, but I can't get home afterwards so I can't go see that so I have tickets for the first showing on the 23rd which is at 11am

message 298: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) O_O

message 300: by Beatrice (new)

Beatrice (beatricemasalunga) Yep. No choice but to decline. if there's no exam. I'll go. :D
