SOLVED!: About a cat/human, they are connected via their minds & may have Gotti Cats in its title?? [s]

I'm looking for a book set in medieval times...the cat, which was an orange marmalade was mind melded with its human...they rode on horses...MAY have some thing like "Gotti Cat's"...can't find the book title anywhere...no matter how I word my search...PLEASE HELP~!! I think I remember this too, but I dont have details. Did the book's cover have the orange cat on the saddle of a horse, and the cat was big? Like wolf-size?
