Shaheen Ashraf-Ahmed | 14 comments I'm so glad to hear that. I think he's an amazing poet, and a very nice person too, which I discovered after I fan-mailed him once to tell him how good he was :) I'll be looking up his books next.

message 62: by Renuka (last edited Jul 27, 2013 03:45AM) (new)

Renuka | 18 comments I'm finishing Wild Ceylon and Vanished Trails by Dr Spittel. I started to read them as research for my novel but find it hard to finish any books these days. But he can write so gracefully, I feel I've achieved something even if I read just a few pages.

message 63: by Ali (new)

Ali (ali1234) | 3 comments Thanks for the great recommendation Ming. I've been looking for historical fiction set during the partition of Pakistan/India and will definitely check out "Partition".

I'm currently re-reading "Interpreter of Maladies" by Jhumpa Lahiri. I first read it almost 6 years ago and while good, I didn't think it was anything special. But having grown and lived a little since then, the stories really resonate with me today and I can appreciate it in way I couldn't before.

I've also been reading "On the Outside Looking Indian" by Rupinder Gill. It's a memoir of a 30 year old Canadian-Indian woman who sets out to experience the things that she missed out on during childhood. Mildly amusing, though not all that compelling. This book is currently paused. I might pick it up again if I run out of things to read.

It would be awesome if you can write your reviews / opinions in the Sudhi Kannan V/S Indigo Protein page. Thanks!
