Hi everyone! My name is Allison and I'm trying to get back into reading. It used to be a major hobby in my teen years, but I've really lost my focus since graduating college. I'm a big fan of fantasy and I've been trying to work my way through lots of Brandon Sanderson lately! I'm hoping that the monthly challenges here will help me branch out a bit. :)
Hi Allison! Welcome to the group. I love fantasy too, though lately I have read mainly romance book. I like Brandon Sanderson's books as well. Hope you can get back into reading
Welcome Allison. I also like Brandon Sanderson's books although I really only have read 1 series... they're all so thick lol
Hi there! I'm Gina. I recently moved back to Melbourne, Australia, after about 20 years living overseas. I'd like to get some recommendations outside my comfort zone, as a few of my recent picks have been a struggle to get through.
I recently started watching a French TV series called The Bureau and I'm really enjoying it. I haven't read much in the 'spy' genre (apart from The Quiet American, which I loved!) so if anyone has any recommendations in this vein, I would love to hear them.
Thanks so much. I'm looking forward to some good conversations!
Hi Gina! I don't know a thing about spy books, but this group is excellent for exploring new genres. I think you're going to like it!
Hello Everyone!I'm Rachel. Really excited to be here. Saw that there were challenges in this group that aim at helping trim down a person's TBR. (I personally thought my TBR was fine until a friend asked me how in the world did I ever expect to read everything on it.) I keep adding things to it because I don't want to forget that I saw them and want to read them... but school has been getting in the way of my actually getting to any of them. But this is my last semester of my Master's degree, so I think after that will be a good time to start working through the hundreds of books sitting there.
My favorite genres are romance, fantasy, spy-thriller, paranormal, action. Really, I'm willing to give anything a try as long as I know it's not going to end in a horrible or terribly sad way (I like Nicholas Sparks, but I am wary of that man at the same time, lol). I don't really read any non-fiction unless I have to (like for my classes), and I don't like horror... but perhaps this group could somehow convince me that there is one out there worth reading.
I feel like I'm writing too much at this point, so I'm going to stop. I'm very excited to be part of this group! Thank you all for having me!
Hi Rachel! Looks like you've got really fun taste in genres. I've found the challenges in this group to be a great way to branch out and work through my to-reads. Good luck getting through your giant TBR!
Helo! I stumbled across one of your old TBR-trimming games last night and thought it would be fun to do once I finish my local library's Extreme Book Nerd Challenge (4 books left to complete!) I won't be able to participate in all the challenges because my lengthy TBR list isn't on Goodreads, so I don't know things like month added or month of publication, but maybe I'll be inspired to take the time to create it one day.I am a wife and mom of two teens in Hershey, PA, and I've been listening to a lot of audiobooks lately because I can listen while I work. Choosing them is almost as much fun as listening to them.
Welcome, Shannon!! Extreme Book Nerd Challenge sounds like fun!
I use GR constantly so it's rather a mind-twister for me that some people don't lol
I love my audiobooks too and yes, I do listen them while I'm working sometimes -especially when I'm dealing with mind numbing excel worksheets!

Wow! I surely have missed all the new people!
Welcome to Chacity, Maeve, and Stephani! Jump right in on any challenge that entices you. All books read since January 1 are eligible.
Chacity, I dip my toe into Romance but usually through the Mystery or Paranormal genres.
Maeve, I am also trying to not add more to my TBR than I knock off, but some challenges are not too helpful with that...especially Moving Mountains. My TBR does not often help me plan for that challenge! And, all those books everyone reads and likes!
Stephani, this group's challenges will stretch your reading genres...and get you to try genres that might be outside your comfort zone...but all is good.
