Hi, My name is Kathryn and I am 20. I love to read, but I don't always have a lot of time to do it. I am hoping that joining a group like this will encourage me to read instead of watching t.v. I live in San Diego, California. I am a college student (hence, I don't have a lot of time to read). I am excited about being part of the 12 books of Christmas (and I hope to finish them by next Christmas time) as well as doing the book theme of the month!

Hi everyone. My name is Kerryn, im 17, i live in Queensland Australia. I absolutely love reading, i am always reading something. So im up for trying any genre and im hoping to find a great book..
I'm tricia I'm married with 2 adult children and a beautiful 7 year old granddaughter. I used to read alot but then things happen and I was away from my love of reading for awhile but I'm back now. I like all kinds of books. James Patterson is one of my favorite authors. I'm currently Double Cross by James Patterson. I will probably read a Christmas book next. Look forward to chatting with everyone.
Hi I'm Suzie ... I found this group through someone's profile and was intrigued by the Christmas mini-game challenge, so off to join in there in a minute!I'm 36 (soon to be 37 aarrgghh!!) and I live in Essex in England. I'm a part-time nurse, and apart from reading I enjoy scrapbooking, messing about with beads (can't actually calling 'making' anything! lol) and listening to music. I'm married with a daughter aged 9 (a major bookworm!) and a son aged 6 (heading to bookwormdom too!) - I've taught them well I fell lol!
Looking forward to getting to know you all and reading some interesting books!
Hi! I am Muriel and I'm a native New Yorker who never leaves home without a book. Favorite authors include Jane Austen, Georgette Heyer and Patrick Dennis... these people have yet to ever really disappoint me.
I can't really pick an absolute favorite book although some of my top choices would be To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell, To Say Nothing of the Dog... by Connie Willis and Cotillion by Georgette Heyer.
My favorite genre is probably mystery with Carl Hiaasen and Robert Ferrigno topping my list of favorite authors. I follow quite a few series' in this genre including the Plum books by Evanovich (you can't beat a Plum book for pure escapist fun!), the Dexter series by Jeff Lindsay, and the Monkeewrench series by P.J. Tracy. In the sub-division of historical mystery we have the Gaslight series from Victoria Thompson, the Julian Kestrel series from by Kate Ross (only four to that one sadly) and the recent addition of the Lady Julia Grey series from Deanna Raybourn which is simply fantastic.
I'm a big Harry Potter fan which led me to dip my feet into the sci-fi/fantasy world. I don't think I'll ever read Tolkien or even Goodkind but I have become a fan of Terry Pratchett. My two favorite series' in this genre are the Thursday Next novels from Jasper Fforde and the Dresden Files from Jim Butcher although both fit nicely into the mystery genre as well.
I'm always on the lookout for something new so I'm looking forward to getting some new ideas from this group :-D
Hi, I am Fiona. Mum of 3, ages 12, 11 & 9. I have been an avid fan of reading since school. I live in Northamptonshire, UK. My favourite authors are: Patricia Cornwell, Jackie Collins, James Patterson, Karin Slaughter, Kathy Reichs and loads of Crim & Thriller authors.
Hope to chat soon xx
Hi. I'm Asma, 34, a software attorney and writer in Denver, Colorado. I love to read. My Amazon nick is "Bookaholic." My biggest problem is finding time to read.
I'm Susanna, I'm 42, I live in South Carolina, and I'm a stroke survivor. My favorite authors would include Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, J.R.R. Tolkien, C.J. Sansom, and Dorothy L. Sayers.
I am particularly fond of non-fiction (especially history and science), historical fiction, science fiction/fantasy, mystery, and historical mystery.
I also knit, and do cross stitch, needlepoint, and crewel embroidery (and they're all great hand therapy, as well!).
Hi. I'm Sonja, 21, and I'm from the greater DC area (just south of). I absolutely love to read. I stumbled upon this group while I was roaming through GR. I generally like to read SF, mystery, general fiction, literary essays, critiques, non-fic.... anything interesting. ;) So I love the idea of picking a book from a genre rather than the whole group reading the same book... this way I can pick up ideas on BTR and keep adding to my already huge stack...
"Hi, I'm Damian and I'm a Sci-Fi/Fantasy-holic.""Hi Damian!"
"It's been about 23 minutes since my last Sci-Fi/Fantasy fix and I'm already thinking about going back for more." (the new Neal Stephenson is great so far.)
Hi, I'm Cathy, from Sydney, I'm an editor and I have 3 children. I've been a mad reader all my life, and I like the look of your group because it seems to prompt a bit more activity - I'm totally hooked on Goodreads!
Hey guys! I'm Donna, live in NYC, 28, and have no specific genres. I just like to read and am always willing to try something new!
Hi, I'm Joanie. I live just south of Boston, MA. I'm married and I have an almost 2 1/2 year old son. I'm a social worker in a school for kids with brain injuries and I love to read. I got an invite to join this group and I held off because I found myself joining more and more groups and trying to read more and more group selected books which left little time for me to read things already in my pile. Someone in another group I'm in was raving about this group so I decided to give it a shot.
Hi, I'm Kellie. I live in Charlotte, NC. I am married and have a 5-year old daughter and an 8-year old son. I work full time. I read after the kids go to sleep and while I'm riding the bike at the YI was invited to this group before and held off because I spend way too much time on Goodreads. The idea looks interesting so I thought I'd give it a shot.
Hi there! I'm Rachel, a 17-year-old high school student from Scotland. I'm currently in my last year of school and applying to study English Literature and German at university. I'd love to explain my reading tastes to you, but I think I read too wide a range of books to wittle it down to one genre! I have a huge To Be Read pile in my room and would like to try and get it down before I go off to Uni in September 2009, so am committing myself to reading one teenage book, one classic, one non-fiction book and one adult novel every month until this makes my pile smaller! I think this group will help me achieve this goal.
Hi everyone,I'm Pat Simmons from St. Louis. I'm the author of two national bestselling Christian romance novels: Guilty of Love and Talk to Me.
Chekc out my website at www.patsimmons.net.
Great books make great gifts.
Pat
Hi! I'm Jen, and I live in North Carolina. I've seen this group referenced on TNBBC several times, so I thought I'd come check it out. I love the idea, so I had to join!
Hi I'm Tango (shh its my cat's name) I will read all genres including adolescent fiction (to keep up with my kids). I'm from the mid north coast of NSW (Australia).
Hey I'm Lauren and I live in Canada. I have loved reading pretty much my whole life but I have only recently discovered GoodReads in 2008. I have a huge TBR pile and I am always game for new suggestions of what to read next. A good time waster for me is a trip to the local bookstore, the challenge is not to spend a ton of money!
Hi Everyone, I'm Sarah and I'm new to goodreads. I stumbled across the site a few months ago but thought it would be best to finish writing my honours thesis before getting distracted. I'm from Melbourne, Australia and I'm trying to expand my reading tastes so this group should help me do that.
Hey everyone. Im Trisha. 25 and currently live in Alabama. I have loved to read since I can remember. I joined this site not too long ago, and im as addicted to it as I am myspace! LOL
Hi. I noticed this group a few months back but thought I'd start fresh with the new year. Hopefully this will help me read outside my comfort zone a bit more.
Hi Everyone! :o)My name is Amanda and I am 26 and live in Sydney, Australia. I love relaxing with a cuppa and a book that you just can't put down.
I joined the group to find some unexpected good reads from genres that I might usually overlook.
Hello Everyone, have enjoyed reading your comments the last couple of days. You all sound so much like me, it's great!!!!!All of my work mates and family have had enough of me talking about books (all roads lead to Rome as they say) so I thought I'd give them a break and join you. I'm from Central Victoria, Australia. I'm a read a book once and will always persist to the end kind of reader (though I wish I could be like Kristina and Karen). My philosophy is, 'you enjoy something about every book you read even if it has to be the last page!' I used to stick to crime/thriller (including Nordic), but now I'm your regular Book Hooker and will have a crack at anything. Cheers & thanks for letting me ramble......and breathe.

Thanks Sunflower, had a moment after I posted of paranoia where I thought ooops that might get taken the wrong way. I needn't have worried!
Greetings from the Golden State! My name is Lennie and I'm from Los Angeles. I love to read! My favorite genre is non-fiction and I'm looking forward to hearing about some good reads!
Hi, my name is Jean and I live in San Diego. I found this group by looking at a goodreads friend's groups. It appears that you are an active, fun group with a great variety of tastes in books. I am looking forward to getting out of my comfort zone and reading many genres in 2009.
Hi, I'm Yz.I'm a pretty eclectic reader, although my loyalties lie pretty deep with the romance genre. I found this group through Karen's profile, and I think this will be a good way to add some variety in my reading.
Hi Everyone. I just happened on this group and it sounds like a lot of fun and interest. I don't know how well I'll do at it because I have a lot of review commitments. Anyway, I'm Betty, live in rural northern BC and love it. Moved here with my husband 2 1/2 years ago from New Westminster BC after I retired from the University of British Columbia where I worked as Assistant to 20+ professors. I have 3 grown children (2 are on GoodReads) and 4 young grandchildren. Favourite genres: mysteries: medical thrillers, suspense, archaeology-themed,forensic; some humor, biographical, almost anything except fluff.
I everyone. I am Ashley. I love reading and I am trying to branch out and read all sorts of genres, but my favorite is chick lit because I like to escape into a fluffy world sometimes after a long day/week.
Hi Im Jon an ex pat Brit living in Sydney, Australia and currently going through a reading frenzy - was drawn to the Aussie based group and novelty shelf idea - sounds like fun!
I'm Melissa! I'm here to check this out! I have a tendency to get stuck within one genre and stay there! We'll see how it goes. As a mother of two and a student I'm a little short on time, but I'll do my best.
This looks like it is an interesting group. My name is Angie and I'm in North Queensland, Australia.

Hi Angie, welcome to the group.
How are you coping with the heat? The weather has just completely turned around this week - we're expecting rain for the rest of this week.

Hello!I'm new too (actually I've joined for more than a month, but didn't really did anything) - I'm Marie, 26, from Paris, France.
Hello Everyone,I am Erika. I can't stop reading; completely addicted. I read almost as much as I work and that's a lot.
Mabuhay sa inyonh lahat!!I'm Jzhunagev... this group's premise is novel and I liked to try it sometime...
I'm a free spirited reader meaning I take up whatever my fancy is... though sometimes I subscribe to a book by our book club....
Hope to get things started here....
Hey'all! I'm Andrew, 32, from Houston, Texas and it's nice to find all this here. I have never been one to get too stuck in any particular rut, and will pretty much give a good chance to any book that finds its way to me. My family swaps books around, and I'm a heavy hitter at the library and discount book-recycling shops (I'm a poor cook, wah). Makes it a little hard for me to catch the new releases, but I always have five or six different kinds of books around the place with bookmarks in 'em. Some think it's weird going from Stephen Hawkings to Stephen King to Stefan Pyles, but it works for me!
Hi My Name is Panda (cause my real name sounds like panda all my friends call me that -_-) I'm 20 living in Sydney, and i love to expand my reading.
My name is Tara and I live in Mechanicsville, Virginia. I thought this book sounded like fun since I tend to read a wide range of genres normally. Right now I am reading The Time Traveler's Wife, which fit the February shelf, and back in January, I read The Devil's Arithmetic. So I almost wish I joined sooner.
Hi my name is Mel, I go by slayermel because I'm a huge Buffy the Vampire slayer fan :op I'm 31 and live in the Greater Toronto area in Canada. I'm really glad I stumbled across this group.
Hi Mel, we've already introduced ourselves I guess over Life of Pi. I really enjoyed Buffy the Vampire Slayer too, and I'm a grandmother!! I loved the hip fun of the show. I notice others have included age and location, so I'm editing this here:
I'm 68, and live in a rural area just outside of the small town of Smithers, BC Canada and as of today, Apr 4, 2009, am watching snow fall and still have between 2 and 3 ft of snow, depending on where you step. No pets, but moose, deer, fox, squirrels, a young cougar, and a lynx have all been seen out our window.
Hi, My name is Kate and I've only just come across this site and this group. I'm 24 and live in Australia.I'm looking for new ways of finding new books to read and think that this concept is a great idea. I'm not too picky when it comes to genres though mystery and fantasy are firm favourites.
Hi, my name is Laura and I live in Virginia. This sounds like a very interesting and international group! I look forward to discovering some new and interesting books!
Hello, I am Adrienne, 13 years old. I think this is a great idea and am happy to join this group!
Hi, I am Barbara and a life long book addict as well. I am a 62 year young teacher who lives in Massachusetts with her husband, 17 chickens, 1 rooster,1 new dog and one ornery cat. Oops, did I mention the four ducks? I tend to stay in the same genres and want to branch out. My usual reads are HF, Contemporary, and "just plain novels". Any suggestions! I am just beginning Like Water for Elephants and in the middle of The Hour I First Believed,
