Hey Linda! Welcome!

Paola (yliharma) | 470 comments Hi everybody,
I'm Paola from Italy!
I'm a book addicted (as probably everyone here) of 39 and since I'm on Goodreads I've improved a lot the amount of books per year, thanks to various challenges.

This group seems very interesting!
I think I'll begin with the pick-a-shelf next month and I'm going to try to understand the rules of Bookopoly (which seems very fun, but also very complicated :D )

"See" you soon ;)

Nancy (nancyhelen) | 37 comments Hi! I found this group from one of the other challenge groups I'm in and it looked like fun. I love reading outside of my comfort zone and trying new things. I read pretty much anything, but I am particularly addicted to reading challenges and games as they make my reading all the more fun.

When I saw Bookopoly, I thought that I would love to try it. It would be a perfect way to start tackling all of those endless Amazon Freebies which seem to be accumulating on my iPad. So I am going to wave *hi* here and dive straight in :-)

I live in Adelaide, Australia and I have two young children who seem to hoover up most of my free time!

message 864: by Tina (new)

Tina Danielle Hi! I'm Tina and I'm from New Jersey. I haven't really had the time to read the last few years and I'm trying to expand my reading and I found this group and it seems like a great idea to step out of my comfort zone. I've read a few different genres over the years, but always end up back in YA and want to experience more "grown up" books.

This is my first time joining a book club of any sorts. So I'm excited to join another people trying new things. Thanks!

Yes, Kristin Lavransdatter, but sadly I didn't like it much; I read all three books. I'd like to read more Norwegian fiction, but not crime detective novels, etc.

message 874: by Elinaly (new)

Elinaly Hello! I'm Elinaly, from Europe (Estonia).
I found your group thanks to the upcoming Olympics game challenge and I really like the monthly pick-a-shelf idea :)
I also signed up for the LOST-challenge - I hope it pushes me to dust off those books sitting too long in my to-read shelf.

Let me discover this group more now ;)

Allison Ann | 1 comments Hi everyone, I'm Allison and I saw your group mentioned over in the Olympic Games group and I really liked the idea of it. Also I'm Canadian so how could I resist this month's theme.

So here I am. I am insanely busy in the summer so I read very little, but it will be September before we know it and then I will be back in business. Looking forward to getting to know you all. :)

Nice to have new members! Let us know if you have any questions. LOST and Moving Mountains are our annual games each year. This year we have also added Bookopoly, Going on a Book Hunt, and a summer game of Bingo.

message 878: by Cecile (new)

Cecile Grudzinski This looks like a real fun group and I like the challenges. My name is Cecile and I love to read anytime anyplace. I'm also a long distance runner, a quilter and I do cross stitch. I also love to cook. My husband and I are currently living in North Western Greece in the Region of Halkidiki, which has many, many beach areas that attract many European tourists in the summer.

I love to read Mystery/Thrillers, Historical Fiction, Magical Realism, Horror (Vampires especially), some cozy mysteries, and some fantasy. Oh, and this year I have focused some of my reading around classics. I grew up in Northern Ontario Canada, and went to French school, so I was never really exposed to the classics.

I'm looking forward to joining some of the challenges in this group, and I also look forward to seeing what you have planned for 2017.

Hi. My first language is French and that's what we spoke in the home. In Canada there are both French and English Public schools and I went to the French schools up until grade 9, the went to an English Secondary School.

Thank you all for the welcome.

Elvenn | 746 comments Hello everyone!

I’m from Buenos Aires and for the last couple of years I’ve been trying to increase my reading time (that had been greatly reduced because of all the reading I did at work).

Somewhere along the way I realized I kept picking books from the same shelves. That made me wonder about the books I was missing so I decided to join you in hopes of discovering new genres and new favorites. I look forward to putting many of your ideas into practice :)

Raine (rainelu) Hi - I'm Raine and I live in NJ. I am a wandering Shelfarian but I think that I picked up the idea of Goodreads since Shelfari closed down.

I want to be active in this group in 2017 by doing challenges and reading books from the monthly shelf. I love reading and I love being surprised by books that I never would have picked on my own unless I was involved in a challenge.

Happy New Year Everyone!
