Ally - I really like Nina LaCour, also. She is a good author. Welcome to the group.

Jess - We are here to feed your favorite pasttime. I remember how hard it was to read when I was in school. But I made up for it once I was done!

Welcome Julie - We will get you to read all sorts of things here. Glad to have you in the group.
Hello! I'm Belle and I'm a senior in college. I love the idea of this group. I'm going to pick up The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian for the January shelf and hopefully read it before the month is over.

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian is a very interesting book. Hope you find it to be good, too.
Wow, I really should check this thread out more often! Welcome to all the new members! Happy reading!
Welcome, Belle & Mauve - I hope you'd both enjoy the monthly shelves... Join us for the games too when you're ready ;)
Karen wrote: "Welcome, Belle & Mauve - I hope you'd both enjoy the monthly shelves... Join us for the games too when you're ready ;)"I just read the rules for ROAR, and I am confused and intrigued. =) It seems fun, I love games with lots of rules hahaha. I'll give it a try.
Hi everyone! I'm Shelby. I'm a junior in college who loves reading. I tend to have trouble getting out of my "safe" genres, so I figured this would be the perfect place for me to challenge myself. I'm looking forward to the new reads! :)
Welcome to the group Shelby! I think it is safe to say you will definitely try some new genres with this group.
Hello, I'm Rachel, 57 years old and live on the east coast of Australia. Love to read and am now getting addicted to this site. What a great place to be bookish. I have come across lots of books I want to read and know feel a huge expansion coming on, starting with the Crucible. The word from Amazon is my Kindle is on its way so now I can always have a little book or many in my handbag.

k
LOL I think that is how you say it. This is such a great site, when I joined a boook club a few years ago it expanded mine too and I have never looked back
Welcome to GR & to this group, Rachel.
I'm in Sydney myself so we're only a few hours' drive from each other ;)

Hi everybody! I'm Ana, from Brasil. I'm 24 and I teach English as a second language. It'll be good to meet and interact with so many book lovers! I also write short stories and had a book published last year.
Thank you! As I did it independently, I put some money on it and could only print 200 copies, but it's been very rewarding, with a lot of people reading and getting back to me with their opinions!
Hi, I'm Sandra and live in Sydney. I'm 56 and have just finished two years of study for a Tafe Diploma in Library Information Services. Before studying, I was out of the work force for quite some time in the role of carer to a friend. I would like to share my good news - I was offered a Library job today and I'm over the moon.
I look forward to reading all the diverse and enlightening opinions and ideas from people in this readers' community.

Hi! Welcome and congratulations on the new job!
Yay, welcome Sandra, fellow Sydneysider ;)
Congrats on the new job! And it was totally admirable of you being a carer for a friend.

Hi everybody!I'm D.G. and I live in NYC. I read pretty much everything but I'm always looking to discover new things. :)
Hi everyone! I'm Karen and I live in Massachusetts. I read a lot of different genre fiction and I'm always up for expanding my horizons. I found the group because it was linked to one of the books on my shelves and I love the random shelf thing. I've got some books from the medieval shelf on Mt. TBR already so I'm going to mosey over to that thread next.
G'day,My name is Nurture. I am a happily married mum of four. Of course, I just love reading. I am joining now (April 2011) but I probably won't actually participate until next month (May 2011) since I have a big pile of ILLs to read at the moment.
This looks like a lot of fun and I am looking forward to finding a bunch of books I would not normally read.
Hello everyone!! My name is Ingrid. I'm a mom of 3, 2 of which are under two currently. I love reading and always find time to de-stress at night by reading. I'm currently reading classics but really want to challenge myself this year with new things. I hope this turns out to be a fun group.
Wow, three new members! Welcome to KarenF, Nurture, and Ingrid! @Ingrid - I hope this turns out to be a fun group for you! Jump right in to any of the challenges/activities/monthly shelves and I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy.
Hello allI linked through to this group via Cathy and thought that this group would be great fun and will encourage me to read beyond the rut that I have happily created for myself.
My first instinct is to grab a Fantasy title or a Medieval History or Biography. However through my membership of another group here on Goodreads I have now started to expand and explore.
I work as a tax agent so for half of the year I am able to enjoy lots of books, however for the remainder of the year (July-Dec) only the Australian Tax Handbook has my full attention.
At the moment I am reading Jane Eyre and looking forward to the release of the movie later this month.
D.G. -Toil and Trouble- wrote: "Welcome Jacinta! Hopefully you can join us reading something from the 'Medieval' shelf. :)"If time permits I will try, I don't have anything on the TBR list that might qualify but you never know what I will find after I deal with Ms Eyre. Maybe a re-read of something by SKP to soothe the soul - you know how nice and gentle the tales of that lovely Plantagenet family are. :P
Hello all,I'm Pat Simmons, an author of five Christian romances.
I'm really excited about my newest release: Crowning Glory.
Please visit www.patsimmons.net and read excerpts.
Hi everyone! I've been part of this group for awhile but unfortunately life has kept me from really participating.I'm trying to get more involved so I can start reading more as it seems since I've gotten older I don't have the time I once had for it.
I'm in the process of also creating a book review site to hopefully help increase the amount of books I read.
Looking forward to jumping in!
hi everybody! I'm Susan; I live in South Carolina, I'm 48, and I teach college French. I LOVE the idea of this group - I went ahead and joined even tho May-June are my worst months for reading due to a yearly school trip - I didn't want to forget to join, tho, plus I'd like to keep an eye out for how things work, then when I'm able to jump in in July hopefully I'll know what's what, more or less.

I love rereading, but find that since I've joined GR I know about too many exciting new books that I MUST get to, which doesn't leave as much time for rereading. I think I need to reread some old favorites more often!
