How do you think they treated Jane Eyre?
HORRIBLE. I definitely see them as bad people. Jane shouldn't be punished just because her parents passed away. She's family, and family looks out for each other no matter what their social status is. During that time period, status was very important but it still doesn't make any sense. Jane acts the way she does because of the way she's treated.
Do you think if Mrs Reed knew how bad John treats her, that she will change her feelings towards Jane?
I don't think so. I think Mrs. Reed would have encouraged it. She didn't like Jane either.
Yeah, I can picture Mrs. Reed not being too happy at her husband's request to take care of Jane as one of her own...
