YES!!!! Finally someone who agrees with me!!!!!!!

so someone does agree with me?!?!?! wow.....:)

Man, that Arby's roast beef sandwitch was too tempting. lol"
Why did you want to become a Vegetarian?
Life is too short to miss out on meat, I say! ;p

I have read several books over the years that were written for this same age group and liked them but this one just did not work for me. I enjoyed the Twilight series more then I did this one and I am a big fan of mythology so I know it was not that. I have also read other books by this author and liked them so it is more then likely the story line was just not right for me. My being a grandmother has nothing to do with my not liking this book.

do ya love me or do ya love me?!?!?
I love meat but i love animals :( i hate making dicisions
:) my friend is a vegiterian ((im so bad at spelling))

I have read several books over the years th..."
sory i was just trying to think of a reason that would make sense but if you dont like it oh well i love the series and always will LOYAL FAN OF PERCY JACKSON lol =D

I think not many people know the reason for the series.... Rick Riordan's 8 year old son was diagnosed with ADHD and Dyslexia...child didn't want to read etc....so Riordan decided to tell a story on mythology...then he invented some....then he wrote it down.....then came the series....

I know that how i feel exactly btw i'm 14 too and they're still one of my favorite series

I love animals too, but I also love certain animal meat. Lol.

Obviously there are endless possibilities to give these books more depth and body, and I dont really like books written in the first person yet they had a way of capturing the imagination and weaving Greek myths into a modern society.

HOW DID YOU FIND A CELLO PICTURE?!?!?! I looked for ages but coudn't find one?!?!?!

Greek mythology has the distinctive privilege of being the most pervading ancient religion which public school gives time to. It gives many names to it's gods and goddesses, whom have godly parents, godly children, and heroes and monsters born and ideas of nature and aspects of everyday life. It can be many things, but the stories in it are never truly boring. It has survived well over two million years, and will continue on well after us.
If "Percy Jackson" is one of many forms of that survival, so be it. Also, somehow, it's become common that a person might waste time to read a five book series about a modern boy, but one book by a ancient scholar, or one who makes such work a life's study isn't likely to be as popularly published or given a cover worth a second look.
Such is media, the monster of our own making.

I wasn't as thrilled with his Ancient Egyptian tales ,because the kids although they were living with their grand parents after the death of his mother, were too well to do for the majority of my kids to relate to-and maybe me too. The voice was missing and for me some of the charm was missing as well. I want my kids to know that even "bad" kids can be heroes.

But..
As soon as I read how Percy's mom turned her husband to stone, I found it very difficult to keep my promise.
I get it, he was awful, he hit her and everything but she basically killed him when she had a choice to leave him. Please dont start with preserving his soul BS. She used him to protect her child and when she did not need him anymore, she just killed him and collected the money. Yuck !
I know how sweet revenge might be but this is not what we need to teach to our kids.
I have many other complaints as well but I don't think I should be spending any more time on this immoral book.
