I watched all the movies, except the last one ofcourse. I never thought of reading the books, I wasn't into books that much, I disliked reading, but now I do not anymore.

What made you want to read them? Do you think that the books are better than the movies?
Just one time through the entire series, but I did go back and reread favorite chapters in each book when I finished them. Definitely have plans to revisit Hogwarts soon :)
I've read the series HOW many times! I just read the odd Harry Potter book every time there are no other books I want to read. I am always in the mood for HP. *scuttles of to read Half-blood Prince*
Maddie wrote: "ive listened to HP 1-3 like 20 times, and i've reread 4-7 at least 67 times!!! :P"wow. And I thought I had read them a lot! I admire your enthusiasm :)

:) Coincidink! I've only read the series about five times, but I've probably read the first two many times beyond that. Maybe 20?
My 3 children have read it at anywhere from 5 times (youngest) to more than 10. I have read it once - probably time to re-read it though.
10 times. :D I've also watched the movies countless times. I could quote tons of lines already, especially Draco's :)

Laura wrote: "60 times...love love love it."You're exaggerating, right? You'd have to read no other books for years, and although HP is sensational and awesome and fantastic and wonderful, you do have to read other books. Occasionally. Sometimes. Maybe. Rarely. (Just kidding!) But 60 times is close to an adequate amount of times reading this book!!
33+ times, I think. I know for positive I've read them at least 33 times. I think I've read hem more though. Possibly fourty.
I've read them six times, but must admit to reading the first three books, my favorites, even more often.
Benita, I rarely reread books either. The first book came out when my son was nine. He didn't like to read, but fell in love with Harry Potter. Each time a new book came out, we reread the previous ones. He hasn't stopped reading since.
I was introduced to Harry Potter very late. When I started reading the Half-blood prince had just come out. I actually started with the 6th book! Then, I went back to the beginning and read the entire series at least 30 times. I've read some of them more than others. For example, I've read the Half-blood prince more than 40 times and the Deathly Hallows about 35 times. And the books I've re-read the least are the 1st and 5th book (about 25 times).
After that, I started reading them in another language. Only once though.
I also always have the Harry Potter Audiobooks with me, both Jim Dale and Stephen Fry recordings.
I never get bored and every time I find a new nugget of information I hadn't noticed or maybe had forgotten.
I read the entire series every few months and when they are all done I start again after a while. The wizarding world is so vast that you could never be bored with it.
They are all great even though after having read them so many times I have found so many issues I still love the series.
My favourite books in the series are:
1- The Deathly Hallows
2- The half-blood prince
3- Chamber of secrets
4- Order of the Phoenix
5- Prisoner of Azkaban
6- Goblet of fire
7- Philosopher's stone ( It's too short :D )
My favourite Characters are:
1. Dobby the free house (I cried reading the Shell Cottage chapter)
2. Hagrid
3. Fred & George
I have a love-hate relationship with Snape. I love his character as a great ass-hole. But the last book changed everything. But then I didn't like it when he was so mean to Harry anymore. So I love Snape but I think he is the biggest piece of shit wizard in the series.
Wow, you all. Seriously, 30 times? Try something else for a change...there are lots of way better and more meaningful books out there. Like for instance, Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne. That's one of my favorite books, but guess what? I've only read it twice because I actually bother to look for other books and read ones that seem interesting or intriguing. Not the same ones over and over again. Pretty much, the most I ever read a book or series is twice. If I ever read past that it's because I've just read a terrible book that made me feel sad or annoyed and I need to read a book that I know is good and will probably contrast that feeling and the terrible book or if new books that I've put on hold at the library or I'm waiting on to ship from Amazon or Barnes and Noble have not come yet and I'm bored. But really. 30 times? That's more than "I'm waiting on new books" or "I like this series". Either you're exaggerating or you really have read that series 30 times and are addicted (note: addictions are bad) or something...30 times? 30? 25? 20? 15? 10? And I thought 5 times was a lot of times to read a book...I think you need to start looking for some different books to read because when you say you've read a book 30 times, it paints a picture. And it is not the most attractive picture in the art gallery if you know what I mean. In case you're wondering what the picture is, here you go.The Picture: someone who has never gone to a library, never gone online to look at other books, and only has one series in their bookshelf. Basically, I think of someone who is really closed off and not willing to take the smallest risk to try something new, even if they might like it. Yup. If you think thirty times is a good thing, go look at The Picture. Because like I said, that picture...pretty much there's no one standing in front of this picture (except for me, but that's because I'm writing about it) because it is not the most attractive picture in the art gallery. Or you could say: it's not the most attractive picture in the whole world. Honestly, that's way more accurate. Sorry if I offended anyone. This post really only applies to people who have read this series 5 or more times (but if you've read this series more than five times because other people wanted you to read it to them, that's a different story...). That's it for this post! Goodbye, au revior, adios, vale, (insert goodbye in whatever language you speak here).
Madeline wrote: "ive listened to HP 1-3 like 20 times, and i've reread 4-7 at least 67 times!!! :P"I don't admire your enthusiasm. Look at my post above. It paints a picture. Do you like art? It talks about art galleries...Read it even if you don't like art galleries...once again: sorry if I offend anyone. Just stating it as I see it...
The whole series through I've read 4 or 5 times. But certain books, my favorite ones (Sorcerer's Stone for example!) I've read more times than I can count.
Well in regards to the first four books, I believe I've read them at least 10 to 15 times each. The Half Blood Prince and The Deathly Hallows I've read twice and Order of the Phoenix once. My favorites have always been Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire, so as a kid I was always breezing through them in a couple of hours and especially over the summer vacation. That's the thing about great writing, if it's beautiful and imaginative then it'll always be a pleasure to keep returning to that world. Such special books are a rarity indeed.
My friend had read the series 16 times when we were just 10. We don't talk much anymore, but I wonder what that number is 6 years later!
