Why do you like Steampunk? It reminds me of the Saturday afternoon movies from when I was a kid, the old sci-fi flicks, and there are costumes.

Why do you like Steampunk? Re-writing history -- what's not to like? Plus the explosion of creativity in everything from music to academic analysis just energises me. With steampunk, people are really connecting with their world, questioning it and crafting an identity of their own choosing. And the Steampunk community respects that!

Favorite Steampunk book : Pick one?!! You're kidding. But one of my earliest favourites was Mercedes Lackey's Fire Rose (from her Elemental Masters series). The Steampunk Bible is awesome and I recommend it to everyone!

Favorite bit of clothing: I'm too shy to dare anything dramatic, but I think my boots are quite steampunk. Black, heeled, little bit of leopard print inside... I could also easily develop an obsession with the incredible steampunk jewellery people are creating.

Favorite accessory: Long, long scarves that I can imagine streaming backwards as the dirigible steams through the sky :)

Well, my name is Cari Silverwood. I write erotic romance with a definite bias toward fantasy. If you don't approve of sex in your stories I will advise staying away from mine LOL

I live in Australia and have always been a big reader of scifi and fantasy though more the fantasy genre lately. Steampunk attracts me as a reader and writer because so much wonderful stuff can happen in this setting. You can stay stiffly within the Victorian limits of Steampunk or branch out into futuristic and alternate world steampunk.

There are enough limits to keep it fairly 'real' and to give you a solid base for your imagination yet you can also stretch and rummage through a wide variety of devices and fantastical contraptions.

Plus war is so pretty done in steampunk. All metal and cogwheels and steam! *sigh*
Favorite steampunk is the Mortal Engines series. YA but deliciously dark.

Favorite non steampunk book: Too hard to decide! I'm working through the Dresden Files at the minute and loving them. So easy to read and enjoy.

Apart from that, you should probably know that I'm a Writer. I can finally say that since my debut novel, "Greaveburn" has just got a publishing contract with Inspired Quill Publishing.

The novel (you might be pleased to hear) is a mixture of Gothic and Steampunk influences set in the eponymous city of Greaveburn. There are mad scientists, crocodiles, a swamp, mutants in the sewers, a damsel in distress (although don't let her hear you call her that) and a disfigured hero who's slowly losing his mind. It should be released later in 2012.

Why do you like Steampunk? I like the fantasy aspect and the sense that it's set in a different time i.e. victorian. I love historical fiction and steampunk feels like it fits in with that.
