Nor I, Robert. I got the book the title was based on The Path to the Spider's Nest by Italo Calvino and someone, somewhere suggested reading Delany's Phallos beforehand. I am going to try to read these, if time permits.
I received my copy of this on Tues, Apr 10, 2012. It's 804 pages with a random sampling falling on an explicit Gay sex scene! I've been reading Delany's books in publication order and cannot decide if I should continue or stop and read this???

I think the title is actually a reference to a scene from the movie "King Kong."

How does it relate?
How does it relate?

How does it relate?"
In one of the first scenes in the book, someone says that life is like a trip through the valley of the nest of spiders and describes the (possibly deleted?) scene in "King Kong."

It may be his gayest novel, but knowing Delany it will be about a lot of things.
