Plug your Kindle into your computer, open the Kindle directory and you'll see a folder called "Documents". Just drag and drop into that folder and it will show up on your Kindle. :-)

You have to download the .mobi version of the file from Smashwords first, and save it somewhere (I have a 'books' folder on my hard drive for this).

And then, what John said :)

Mom2olivia Lamar | 28 comments Okay and another question, can I delete the books from my books folder after they are on my kindle? My C drive is running out of room...(hopefully getting a new comp soon)

Dee (austhokie) | 370 comments I would advise backing them up somewhere - I don't know if smashwords keeps your account backed-up...but you can buy an external hard drive relatively cheaply nowadays

Clare K. R. (clare-dragonfly) You can always re-download something from Smashwords, so it should be fine to delete the books from your computer. But it's probably a good idea to get an external hard drive for backups anyway!

Karen B. (raggedy11) I don't have an external hard drive but I tend to back up a lot of things on my Flash Drive(s). I have more than one because I bought a new one each school year and the last one I only used for half a year and it had 4mg of storage. So far no problems. Besides now that I am retired I can delete a lot of my saved tests, etc from the flash drive and make more room.
