I parallel Umbridge with Javert of Les Misarbles. She is the law, she doesn't understand the concept of mercy or forgiveness and can't stand to watch her rules broken. At the end of Les Miserables the main character (In Javert's eyes nothing but a lowly crook) shows him mercy. Javert has never seen any flaw in himself and his system of dealing judgment. Overcome by the idea of his beliefs being folly, he commits suicide by jumping off a bridge. Since I see a complete reformation for Umbridge unrealistic, maybe something like Javert's fate is called for. Maybe she wouldn't react exactly like him though, because Umbridge seems to have more selfish motives than Javert.

Well, I am. I couldn't agree more on that part of her being dead. She treats so badly the muggle borns in 7th part. And jeez, that horcrux she calls it her ancestral locket. Should have sent her to azkaban, being kissed by dementors could have been a hell lot comforting.

Based on all the stuff she does in book 5, I think it's safe to assume that she does not issue empty threats. And she sent the dementors after Harry without any "proof" - he was just in the way and she set him up to get kicked out of school or killed. Probably wouldn't have made much difference to her, either way. And it didn't seem to matter that they could also harm innocent bystanders too(Dudley)
When they were used other times, it was supposed to be in the most extreme cases - Azkaban. I hardly think it was appropriate to have them guarding defenseless people during the twisted interrogations. Why would they need them if the people were all unarmed? Especially considering their only "crimes" were claiming to be a witch/wizard.

hahahahaha
How about this one:

lol

Yeah, with her it was more a case of how she was able to manipulate people and cause them pain. More about what she could get out of things rather than just doing something because it's 'the law'.
I agree, I don't think she would ever kill herself. She'd rather beg for mercy from those she would have denied it to and wouldn't think she deserved to die for her failure.

lol

I definitely know that's bad. I think she got what she deserved when she got sent into Askaban for life imprisonment or whatever.
Yes that's true, but I think that JK Rowling wrote that to make it seem more formidable and to make us notice how much the ministry changed since Voldemort's return.

WIN!!

I was very disappointed that Umbridge didn't get punished for her stupidity and cruelty as she very well should have been. This book wasn't one of my favorites of the series.

I can't believe that Snape, Sirius, and Fred had to die, but she is still breathing at the end of the series. I HATED this character.

That is soooooooooo wrong I'm mildly disturbed that my eyes have been submitted to that lol

Really? Wow! :D

Really? Wow! :D"
Yes, nuns are badass, at least this one was. She even had a way of speaking similar to Umbridge and a love of cute little kittens.

Surprisingly, I didn't find it awesome at the time. I ran like the wind all around school and whenever I kept looking back, there she was, like the Terminator.

Aha, must have been scary. I really can't imagine a nun like that. Haha, the Terminator. :D

the movie half-blood prince, didnt really portray younger snape's intelligence well. But when I first read the book, I felt really betrayed by him. T_T
alan rickman acts really well in his part during deathly hallows 2... its really emotional.

it may have been!!!! nice point

I think she got a pretty brutal comeuppance.

But.. JK DOESNT say that Umbridge goes unpunished after the war. I can imagine the Ministry went through a thorough cleaning after the war, and I'd like to think Umbridge got a good sacking, at least. :)

So true!

I absolutly agree. she was so evil i wanted to personally kill her even though she is a figment of our imaginations

to be fair at most i think i just wanted to shove her stupidly pink bloody cardi and false niceness up her ***

She may have been a person just doing what she believed but the way she went about it was wrong and people suffered for it. Remember when she was interrogating Harry in book 5? She was fully prepared to use the Cruciatus curse to get him to talk until Hermione stepped in. She also basically turned Hogwarts into a dystopian society while she was there. Imagine if she became the Minister of Magic? She may not be evil but she was a terrible person.

She was probably a very insecure person and had to terrorise others to feel in control. I think they've sent her to Azkaban and charged her for hate crimes xD

Some deaths were anticipated, some not. Not everything goes to plan in real life, and no matter how much you hate some-one, it doesn't mean they'll just die! Yes, Umbridge was very annoying at the best of times, but she made the book more interesting, and it was easy to be angry at her along with the Hogwarts students.
The whole series is amazing and well-written.
