Shay | 177 comments How would you verify page count for a book that has no numbered pages? The book has text, is clearly a book, but none of its pages are numbered. I have an actual copy of the book in my hands and am looking through it:

Which pages should "count"? Do I count from the first page of text through the last page of text that's clearly part of the book?

WorldCat is a great resource for page count.

Shay | 177 comments The Provence Cure for the Brokenhearted by Brigit Asher

The text of the book and numbered acknowledgment ends at page 406.

Pages 407-422 are excerpts from the author's other two books.

Pages 423-438 include the reader's guide and recipes for the book The Provence Cure for the Brokenhearted.

So, is the official page count 406? Or do you make an adjustment (438 minus 16 pages=422 pages) to account for the numbered pages that are part of the text of this book?

Thanks.

Yes, but the excerpts from other books, which are not to be included in page count, are in the middle. So, should the total be adjusted to 422 (the actual number of pages related to the book) or 406 the end of the text. To have the page count be 438 pages would include material that's supposed to be excluded from page count totals.

I would go with 438. Subtracting pages from the middle is too confusing.

Thanks, I will do that and add more details about the page count.
