There must be brisk business going in vamp hair extensions:)
But I do remember in Interview with the Vampire movie (I didn't read the book) the little girl vampire kept trying to cut her hair and it kept growing back immediately.

Dana THEY GO SWIMMING. IM SURE THEY TAKE HOT STEAMY SHOWERS TOGETHER..

Olivia Rose Cairns yes they have to shower or else none of them would have girlfriends

Valerie I don't think they need to, but they can. There's nothing stopping them.

message 55: by Emma (new) - rated it 3 stars

Emma Maybe they're like cats and just tongue bathe, lol!!!

message 56: by [deleted user] (new)

haha lol i think that they do bathe. do they use the bath room? ya know..... like to digest the blood or whatever?

Hydrangea I'm with Therese here; the consistencies have bothered me. If the reader is expected to believe the male vampires have a reproductive flow so to speak, then I have to believe that what goes in must come out even just for gravity's sake. So if they're taking in liquid blood, it has to come out somewhere whether it's their pores or are we just supposed to think the blood just evaporates in their veins? Where are we supposed to think the living sperm is coming from in these dead vampires? Is it just left over from when they were changed? Or is the blood the male vampires intake being changed into sperm? Maybe the blood the female vampires intake turns to sweat? So regardless of what Meyer says, in order for me to enjoy the story, I have to think they have some limited bodily functions. It's trying to make logic out of a fantasy, but my mind likes to put things in order I can understand. I think the Cullens are a extremely fastidious family, so I agree, they bathe regardless. I can turn the other cheek regarding whether the vampire hair or nails continue to grow, but other author's stories have vampires with really long decrepid nails and long ratty hair. Aren't nails dead anyway? So I guess you can say whatever you want when you're the author :)

Stephanie The thing with hair though, Alice has a pixie cut, no? That was probably not in style when she was changed into a vampire. She must have cut her hair...

Sammi Aurox Is Mine Ok a quick question...how the hell did Edward get Bella pregnant?!Since he doesnt have any blood or anything,Im guessing he doesnt have sperms either?!

Marsha Sammi wrote: "Ok a quick question...how the hell did Edward get Bella pregnant?!Since he doesnt have any blood or anything,Im guessing he doesnt have sperms either?!"

That's what I was thinking Sammi. Apparently he does have sperm and the only reason female vampires don't get pregnant (in the world of Stephanie Meyers) is because their bodies don't change. Doesn't make sense, but just let her have her way.

Forgive me for having a giggle here, but if an author writes a book properly (or a series of books), she shouldn't have to write another book to explain the logic (or lack thereof) in the world she created. Just saying.

Marsha No need to excuse yourself. The whole thing is ridiculous. I don't think any of these authors realized that people would take it so seriously and question their logic. I also think it's funny that Stephanie had to write that illustrated guide in order to explain herself, but then again, who knew that so many people would be obsessed with the subject for it to be an issue? On one hand, I think that people should have the creative license to write about their ideas as they please. One the other hand, it is annoying when you find that some things don't make sense or aren't consistent. The sperm thing is probably one of the best examples. It's cool to imagine that a vampire can have a baby with a human, but what about the fact that they are "frozen"? Then again, she did get paid for the illustrated guide, so who am I to talk about someone and their quest for making money?

Consistency is one of the hardest things about writing a series, maybe more so with paranormal. You make a rule in one book that sounds good, and then locks you into a corner in the next, LOL. And it could very well be that the Twilight thing exploded unexpectedly and she had to write "more faster" than she otherwise would have, which probably breeds inconsistency. You'd think an editor for Little, Brown and Company would have caught some of that. (shrug).

Marsha S.M. wrote: "Marsha wrote: "No need to excuse yourself. The whole thing is ridiculous. I don't think any of these authors realized that people would take it so seriously and question their logic. I also thin..."

I'm betting that you are 100% right. As a matter of fact, I saw an interview where Stephanie mentioned that illustrated guide as feeling like homework so she probably was just doing it because it was required. And fans would literally stalk her if she didn't. Yeah, what IS up with the editing?

Rachael yeah about the cut5 hair thing (re :the lil girl who tried to cut her hair and it grew back)

if ya watch true blood .. Jessica has a similar prob but with something else as she was turned before she lost her virginity .. so now shes a vamp everytime she had sex with hoyt it would grow back after it .. eternally a virgin ...... so its possible about the hair -- also too maybe it would depend on the age of the vamp .... like maybe older ones (like been a vampire the longest not the age of being turned) so the older the vamp the slower the rate that things grow back maybe ?? (like say they cut it) .. just a thought lol

Clara i think they do out of human habit.

True Image do vampires have to bathe?.......HA. I would hope so!

message 68: by MissWhitneyB (last edited Sep 19, 2011 12:45PM) (new) - rated it 1 star

MissWhitneyB Hmmm.... GOOD QUESTION! lol I think that they DO have to bathe. Their skin is nearly indestructable and all that, but it still gets dirty like 'regular' skin, at least I'd assume so.

On the other hand, if it's not necessary, many things that ARE necessary to HUMANS, like breathing, were OPTIONAL to vampires, but they did them for comfort. I'm sure that the occasional shower is appreciated in the Cullen household. ;)

Daisy Katniss990 wrote: "So does the blood always stay on Bella or does it just like, "fall off" after her hunting?"

sounds hilarious! i sure hope they do take a bath...that would be disgusting, don't you think?

Rachael hahah yeah it does sound kinda funny and i hope they do have baths !!!

but ive read several Supe romance series and most of the vamps/ weres etc do bathe ... if only sometimes to have a sizzling sex part in the book (but hey whos complaining right??)

Daisy hahaha! I'm definitely not complaining:-)..

Rachael Daisy wrote: "hahaha! I'm definitely not complaining:-).."

hahahah hey neither *blushes and looks innocent!*
the sexier the scenes the better sometimes !!

Nicole Trine wrote: "Good point - I am guessing that they would clean themselves when they get blood on them, but otherwise - no. Another question though: If their bodies won't ever change (or at least the females)... ..."

yes, that is correct. That is why Alice's hair is so short. Their hair never grows.

Nicole Therese wrote: "Meyer said their hair and nails don't grow, so if they cut their hair it's stuck that way.

yes they said that the men CAN (and its been mentioned in seval vamp books that male vamps can make babies -- just not the female ones as their bodies are frozen and cant develop or move to accomadate the growing baby hence why some breed with humans ... its even happened in a few other supe books ive read ......
and i would say yeah idk wherre they are making new sperm from since they cant develop stuff but idk maybe something in the venom or new blood that changes or helps make new lil men ..... lol i never figured that one out haha

Emerald they wash it away with venom it desingrades it like the contacts

Mikey Cupcakes I think they do because how are they supposed to get cleaned? I just think that they never tell you about how they shower or bathe. It isn't important.

Rachael Juliet wrote: " I just think that they never tell you about how they shower or bathe. It isn't important."

lol i think the only time ive seen any charecters (human or not) mention or have a bathroom scene ..... is when the woman is either : realising that umm hello shes missed a period and has a pregnancy test in there .. is having a lone hot bath and fantasizing about the hero ....
or they are in there together and having "special time" (read by special time i mean whoohoo.... lol) and then lying in the bath together after :)
or if the woman rushes to the bathroom for morning sickness lol

Mikey Cupcakes Lol. If they go swimming, does that count as bathing?

Olivia Rose Cairns Juliet said If they go swimming, does that count as bathing?

why yes it does

The Host is actually better than Twilight, if that's possible.

rehathebookghoul i dont know if they do or not but they should.

ichigo_menthol this question is so random. are you asking this question because YOU are a vampire and you're wondering if you have to bathe? xD

Olivia Rose Cairns Mαrïε★ said this question is so random. are you asking this question because YOU are a vampire and you're wondering if you have to bathe? xD<?i>

i think that since everyone has seen twilight i think that every one is just curious

Alexanne Nah I don't think they sweat or get greasy or anything....
What if a vampire ate something? Like what if Edward just decided to eat french fries- what would happen? Would he poop? LOL

Kirby Rachael wrote:

I don't know, I think the sookie stackhouse series has bout beat me over the head w/ all of sookie's bathroom activities- granted, it's mostly showering and primping, but still- she spends way too much time in the bathroom, esp. given how short the books are!

Rachael Olivia wrote: "Mαrïε★ said this question is so random. are you asking this question because YOU are a vampire and you're wondering if you have to bathe? xD

i think if you already bathed pre vampire state most ppl would prob still bathe .. even for just the warmth of trhe water and to feel cleaner (if that makes sense)

Rachael Kirby wrote:

haha yeah and heres me thinking that sookie WASNT vain or a girly girl !~
granted that if ya had a date with a hot vamp ya wpuld wanna do yaself up nice (if ya not staying in)
but ALL the time ??!

Nicole Alexanne wrote: "Nah I don't think they sweat or get greasy or anything....

Haha! No, he has to choke it back up, his body won't digest it...ew.

Rachael LOL it was explained in the book that edward had to choke up a piece of pizza later on when in twilight he ate a piece of food to show bella that indeed .. yes he *Can* eat to pretend to be normal but he cant digest

i dunno if bella was aware of what happens after (she just realised that they can and they didnt die from it lol)

Victoria Scofield I hope Edward told her what happens after eating. What an unpleasant surprise to find yourself choking up something that already tastes like dirt going down.

message 92: by Lexie (new) - rated it 1 star

Lexie I am sorry, but this is the most random topic ever!! Why would you even think of that question?

hahaha

message 93: by Victoria (last edited Apr 09, 2013 09:21PM) (new) - added it

Victoria Scofield Lexie, I've actually thought about whether or not they before too. Don't know why.

I really hope they bathe.

message 94: by sam (new) - rated it 1 star

sam even if they dont sweat they still SHOULD bathe. they have to get rid of that forest dirt and deer blood somehow.

now that i think about it the no batheing thing might explain carlisles hair in the first movie.

Rel8tivity Nicole wrote: "Two vampires cannot reproduce. She explains how it works with a vampire and human in Breaking Dawn."

If anybody can point out where in Breaking Dawn this is explained, I'd like to know. I don't think she succeeded in explaining it at all.

Cassie they probably lick the blood off. lol

Marina Fontaine Olivia wrote: "i wonder if they even need a bath at all."

Well not like we do because they don't sweat, but they would get dirty from running around/hunting etc.

Cassie I thought vampires hunt really cleanly?

Rachel I think it said in Midnight Sun, that Edward was going for a shower before he met with Bella again.... I can't remember though I read it a while back :D
