BubblesTheMonkey According to Bella in Breaking Dawn when they we in the cottage, they would never have use of the bathroom. Does this mean they never wash? And how does Bella get clean after her first, bloody hunt?

JP Capili I think they do, but they don't use soap.

I don't think they have to bath because they don't sweat or anything.

BubblesTheMonkey So does the blood always stay on Bella or does it just like, "fall off" after her hunting?

Zenei Good point. If logic dictates (and remember, we are talking about fantasy beings here) then they would have to at least wash up after a meal. I think that if Bella is used to taking showers then she would probably continue. By the way, I love this series. Recently read "The second life of Bree Tanner". Ms Myers is so talented. Almost makes me want to read "The Host".

Stephanie Ayers i doesn't mention it because right after she is on her way to meet the baby then all that stuff goes down with jacob i don't think the blood or clothes are important to her when she was writing

Stephanie Ayers was supposed to be it dosent mention it sorry typo^^

Marilou Paru i dont think she was speaking about baths when she said they dont need the bathroom... the need baths after hunting for example because even though they dont sweat they do get dirty with blood and everything

Kristen Katniss990 wrote: "According to Bella in Breaking Dawn when they we in the cottage, they would never have use of the bathroom. Does this mean they never wash? And how does Bella get clean after her first, bloody hunt?"

I don't think they HAVE to but probably do. I mean, your car doesn't HAVE to bathe either, but you still wash it when it needs it.

Trine Good point - I am guessing that they would clean themselves when they get blood on them, but otherwise - no. Another question though: If their bodies won't ever change (or at least the females)... Does that mean that they can never get a haircut? Because if they do, then it won't ever regrow?

Kristen I wondered that too. Probably.
Twilight is pretty consistent with that idea because Alice's hair never grows back.

Stephanie Otis yea they prolly dont have to bathe daily but more like every few days, they are really white tho and even if they dont sweat they will get dirt and grime on them just from running in the woods and of course from hunting. they may not smell bad but the dirt prolly shows even more on them since they're so white.

Stephanie Otis Trine wrote: "Good point - I am guessing that they would clean themselves when they get blood on them, but otherwise - no. Another question though: If their bodies won't ever change (or at least the females)... ..."

im thinking that one is just like interview with a vampire status, you are the way you where when you where turned, if you had long hair you will always have long hair, if you cut it will grow back with in seconds.

Kaleigh Grady I dona't think their hair would grow back if they cut it because their bodys don't keep growing, and what about there nails?

Shawn Keenan I'm thinking that line by Bella was just to indicate they don't use the 'facilities' in the bathroom.

Or maybe they bathe in the kitchen sink? I would think the still have use for showers.

Rose I don't think they sweat, but who refuse a hot bath sometimes?

The real question is, do they use the bathroom? And in that case, do they pee red?

Rose Kaleigh wrote: "I dona't think their hair would grow back if they cut it because their bodys don't keep growing, and what about there nails?"

Then it would be the ultimate revenge to cut it off... XD

Shawn Keenan I doubt their hair could be cut.

Jackie -Sated Faery This is my ultimate pet-peeve with the movies... the ever-changing hair!!!

And as for bathing, probably not often a necessity if you have rock hard skin. And they don't all get bloody when they eat - Bella gets jealous of Edward being so clean after he feeds.

Nurlely Stephenie's supernatural world is indeed weird. The flaws are annoying and disturbing.

Ever since Twilight, book 1, I tried to just enjoy the romance.

Andre and Sophie In 'Bree Tanner' Riley tears off some of one of the girls' hair and Bree says she's going to have a bald spot.

Ms. Twilight Twilight If you've read midnight sun it talks about how Edward went to clean hiself up before he returns to peer in Bella's room; I think they do bathe

Ms. Twilight Twilight Rose wrote: "Kaleigh wrote: "I dona't think their hair would grow back if they cut it because their bodys don't keep growing, and what about there nails?"

Hair doesn't die

Andre and Sophie What do you mean?

message 25: by [deleted user] (last edited Jun 22, 2011 08:36AM) (new)

I wondered this a while ago. They must wash though because otherwise their hair would be really greasy and dirty!?

Andre and Sophie no i don't think their glands secrete grease.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

They would still get dirt, like from the trees and stuff.

Andre and Sophie yeah.

that is true.

sorry, i'm to lazy to cut caps on or press shift.

Audrey I know that when I get home from camp I have like soot all over me and I'm not 'dirty' but I still hop in the shower. But the Cullens really don't have a need for fire do they well still dirt and tree stuff.

Nurlely I think they bathe when they are dirty enough. And they use soap too. Dry blood is sticky and they need to clean themselves after the feeding hour.

I do not think they bathe because they are smelly. They do not perspire so no sweat will be resulted due to all their 'exercises'.

C.C. I dont think so, they dont sweat... atleast edward dont.. :))

i think they CANT cut their hair and nails

message 34: by Julz (new) - rated it 3 stars

Julz Rulz yeah-i think the only thing vamps would HAVE to wash off would be blood if they were messy

Andre and Sophie Either way I don't think they have to, they probably WANT to!

Yeah, I agree!

Meagan Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

AurorainBookland on the twilight Lexicon site it has a bunch of questions like this http://www.twilightlexicon.com/the-le...

they do bathe to get the blood and dirt off them

message 39: by Soumya (new) - added it

Soumya Kamatham ok!

Gabriel They get quite dirty during the fight scenes and running around the place. So I would say yes.

Jordan I don't know. I know that they don't sweat because of their cold skin but your right, i mean, if they're hunting and they get a mountain lion or something, they would be a bloody mess.

Shawn Keenan Do any of us really HAVE to bathe? I mean, really? I think vampires have as much responsibility to bathe as we mortals. It's just good hygiene. Do they have immunity to bellybutton lint? Toe jam? I think not.

Bathing keeps their sparkles all sparkly.

Jordan LOL! Kinda gross but funny!

You should totally read the Host. I really, really enjoyed it.

BubblesTheMonkey Trine wrote: "Good point - I am guessing that they would clean themselves when they get blood on them, but otherwise - no. Another question though: If their bodies won't ever change (or at least the females)... ..."

Good point, too. Also, is their hair like super strong, too?

Marsha I think that they have to bathe. Look at James' dirty coven, they were all bare foot and mangy. They would have to at least rinse off dirt and blood after hunting. And I don't think that their hair can be cut, but it doesn't grow. That's also why females can't get pregnant because they never change and can't grow. Stephanie addresses most of this in The Twilight Saga The Official Illustrated Guide by Stephenie Meyer

Missyb In the Carpathian books by Feehan, she addresses this issue. They sleep in the dirt and part of their "power" is when they rise out of the dirt after sleeping they are clean. A few of the new mates asked about getting all dirty when sleeping in dirt.

I think this shower issue is dependant on the series. Some series they shower (Michele Hauf's vampires & Argeneau series by Sands), and some they shower but it's often not for cleaning (Carpathian series by Feehan), and other series it's never mentioned.

Missyb Shawn wrote: "Do any of us really HAVE to bathe? I mean, really? I think vampires have as much responsibility to bathe as we mortals. It's just good hygiene. Do they have immunity to bellybutton lint? Toe j..."

love the way you put this, funny.

Rachael well i think that they do bathe (and sevewral vampiure romances attest to this) mostly for the pleasure of the warm water (and several when they have a companion in there too *coughs* for some sexy fun)

true blood and vampire diaries (book and show) often show vamps having a bath with or witrhout companions (mostly with as it seems to set the scene for a sexy liason) lol .... but i would assume that Bella woul prob at least wash her face and hands and remember that she crossed the river (and it it many times) and the vampire speed when they run would be like a towel
plus in twilight they dont seem to wear the same clothes twice so any ripped or bloody clothjes would be thrown out anyways

but then if ya watch true blood .. eric northman had long hair in season 1-2 (and so did bill compton) but by season 3 (for eric) and season 4 (for bill) Both have cut it really short and it doesnt seem to grow back ....
