Emily C. @Erin: yeah. I guess you could put it that way. but the word "choose" changes the view differently. It's more like finding out who's "meant to be", or something like that, for me.
@Lea: I also think it's good she chose Peeta and that he really helped her be more optimistic.

Kaitlin I knew she always did from the begining but she realized she did when she was helping his wounds in that cave\shelter. P.s cant wait for the movie though i hope they dont mess it up

In the book Peeta said he started to love her the minute she sang in kindergaten. But she never new it..That is why he gave her the bread, because he loved her and he new then that he would do anything for her.

me too... I hope they don't ruin the book's reputation like they did with Twilight... that was a really bad movie.

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) I hope people aren't like "You like THG?!" cause the movie's so bad...

People shouldn't judge the book by the movie.

Jealisa I think it was in the arena when she plays being in love with petra u can only play for so long b4 it becomes real. She started to realise it when she was nursing him back to health. They started falling unto a companionship on the train going back to the capital(book 2) when he was always there when she had nightmares.
But ultimately it all fell into place for her when he finally rejected her cause he thought she was evil.

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) OMG! That was soo sad..That's when she realized how much she loved him, wheather it was friend love, or romantic love...Like she even said that she misses him more than if he would of died..

Susana I agree the spark started with the bread. She never forgot him after that. And yes, there were littlet moments in each book, I definitly dont think Kat realized she was in love with him till the last.

And I do think she only felt guilty because Gale was the only guy she knew. Apart of her probably felt like she belonged to him. He did fill her emptiness after her father's death, so naturally she'll feel as if she's betraying him if she gives her heart to someone else. But she's pretty slow about putting 2 and 2 together.

[Coco] And how would you do that? It's not like they're gonna say "Yeah, the movie's awful, but I'll read the book." I guess you could attempt to lock them in an room with nothing but the series... but I don't know anyone who would go through that much trouble. So... making them read the book, if they really don't want to? Probably not a good idea.

Susana hey whats that whole dandelion thing? I dont get it.

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) Susana wrote: "hey whats that whole dandelion thing? I dont get it."

Well after the whole bread thing during the next day she caught his eye and then saw a danelion. That gave her the courage to hunt and that she could go on. He was her dandelion in the spring, that gave her hope to keep on going.

Lalala*Saredo* I think she loved him since he gave her bread he pretty much saved her live like 2 times in the first book and also Gale is a idotic loser he is in love with Katniss but from the outside not from the inside heart i think Peeta deserves her anyways i think she always loved him but she was just scared to admit it like in the second book when she kisses Peeta and thinks to herself that was the first kiss that wasn't forced i want them togeather too PEETA+KATNISS=<3

message 114: by Amanda (new) - rated it 5 stars

Amanda I think it was right before the kiss on the beach in Catching Fire. She might not have realized it at that moment, but I'm convinced that's when her love for him really started. Everything before that is leading up to it.

I don't think she realizes she loves him until after he's returned and hijacked. Even then, we don't get a clear admission of it. That's okay though, with Katniss I feel we as readers have to sometimes read between the lines. She doesn't really have time to process her feelings fully until the end of the book and Peeta is there at the right time and has healed enough for their relationship to finally reach that stage.

message 115: by Erin (new) - rated it 5 stars

Erin I think she always was because she always seemed to care about him! She just denied herself so I agree she didnt really know know herself.

message 116: by Erin (new) - rated it 5 stars

Erin Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) wrote: "I like how she didn't know herself.."

I agree too...

message 117: by Cola (new) - rated it 5 stars

Cola Though Katniss may not have realized it, I think she started falling for Peeta when he gave her the bread and realized it after the Hunger Games. I agree with Chantelle, she always loved him. she just didn't know it.
Team Peeta all the way!

message 118: by [Coco] (new) - rated it 5 stars

[Coco] Same here! Why are people even saying that Katniss should be with Gale when she's already with Peeta and everything's done?

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) They can't accept it..Just like how I never accept that Finnick died.

message 120: by Brooke (new) - rated it 5 stars

Brooke For the entire series I believe deep down she really loved him, but because of the Hunger Games and Gale she never really allowed herself to believe it. The moment where I thought "Dang, she really loves him" was the moment where they are filming a commercial but Katniss has sort of a nervous breakdown because of everything and what they are doing to Peeta. Then he comes back and is hijacked and doesn't love her. I think that was her wake up call, where she saw what life was like without his constant love and devotion. That was sort of the smack to the head that made her realize how much she cared about him. But I definitely agree there are many signs throughout the series.

message 121: by Maja (new) - rated it 4 stars

Maja I am so glad she ended up with him! Peeta was such a nice guy and I knew he was what she needed in her life. And yes, the signs of her love for him were there throughout all 3 books. I was just hoping she would wake up and realize it before she ended up with Gale and lost Peeta forever. Can't wait for the movies!

Hungergames!!!!!!!!! i think when the capitol took him, she realized she loved him

message 123: by Paula (new)

Paula I believe Katniss fell in love with Peeta in the second book, when she notices that she needs peeta in her life.

Kristin She wouldn't let herself fully love Gale either. Didn't want kids in their kind of cruel world. But romantic love wise, I think the first spark was during the nursing scenes. There were feelings before that, but not romantic ones.

Caroline Liberatore-Logan I really think it was when he ran into the force field. She realized how much he meant to her, and when she thought he died, nothing else mattered. Her whole world just crashed down around her. She had taken him for granted. Katniss then realized how blessed she was to call Peeta her's.

message 126: by Megan (new) - rated it 4 stars

Megan I believe the moment Katniss fell in love with him was when he died for a few minutes in Catching Fire, I don't think she realised until later on. Reading the books also hits that katniss loved Peeta all along but it took her a long time to come to terms with her feelings, I believe this is because she did have Gale. Gale was the easy option someone she had known since she was a child and he loved her. It would have been easier for her to choose Gale but honestly she didn't have the same romantic feelings for him as she did for Peeta and that is very evident in the book.

Rebekah Alexander I thnk she always loved him but when he was taken by the capitol only then did she realise that she loved him. so basically what you said lea

message 128: by A.J. (last edited Dec 18, 2014 01:21PM) (new) - rated it 1 star

A.J. I do not think she fell in love with him when he gave her the bread. I don't think she fell in love with him in the first book in the arena, I don't think she fell in love with him when he hit the force field. I think she slowly falls in love with him through the whole series, she just realizes she loves him when (SPOILER) she is talking to Finnick in the third book and he tells her," you love Peeta, you may not know it but I do. I can tell by the way you look at him." I think she then realizes that it is true, she does love him.
