For published authors...what advice have you received when you were trying to get published

For all published authors in the group...over the time period that you have been writing, what advice were you given that you still use today? I have been told so many things through the years of rejections that at times it us hard to keep up. But to this day, the best advice and top i give to aspiring authors is to "write when you area inspired, and write when you aren't." One of my college professors told me that "if you wait for inspiration every time then you might never write at all." I carry this advice especially when I feel like making excuses so that I don't write. What I mean is that at times a blank piece of paper or computer screen can seem overwhelming to the point that writers find themselves looking for anything to do but write. If you are serious about writing, you have to find time to write, even if it us only a paragraph. So aspiring authors, find inspiration. It shows itself in all forms. And to published authors and friends, please tell us the best advice you have received. You just might be the source of inspiration for someone else.

I can't remember any advice especially, but the thing that helped me is that I wrote my books for my kids and that is what has kept me plugging away at writing, which I usually do every day.
