I have no idea about the ISBN. All I recall was that when I went to the GR listing for the book it only had one ebook edition listed. If I ever do it again, I'll make note of the ISBN. I can't even remember what book it was- I've probably read about 200 books since then.

JSWolf | 649 comments As long as we are on the subject of eBooks, Why is it we are allowed to have different listings for different paper books and yet we cannot have different listing for different eBook versions other then Kindle or other? Why not allow a separate listing for each different format an eBook exists in? We do have an edition field which could be used to put which eBook format it is in.

I think as long as the two different eBook editions have different ISBN/ASIN numbers, there should be an entry for both. Do you have an example of a book where this isn't the case?

Correct.

JSWolf | 649 comments Sometimes the ISBN for an eBook is the same as the ISBN for the paper version. Yet they are two different versions that deserve two different entries. So why is it then that two different eBook versions with the same ISBN cannot have separate listings?

If you search the forum, you'll find where I've posted cases where some eBooks do have different ISBN numbers for different formats. But not always. So what I do when I make an entry where the ISBN was previously used is to put the ISBN numbers in the description field. But an ePub is not the same as eReader not is it the same as PDF nor is it the same as Mobipocket. So if different paper editions can be listed as different versions because the format is different, why not list eBooks separately for different versions?

That way, people will know what versions are out there and be able to see if the format needed exists.

They should never be the same though. A unique ISBN for every format (print, e-book, audio, whatever) is how the author should be doing their books.

willaful I came across this: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11...

Which was obviously imported from this: http://www.amazon.com/Book-Lot-Sound-...

Can it be deleted or does it need to be NABbed?

The issue with stuff like that getting imported is currently being worked on. The developers are working on a filter -- hopefully it will be live in a day or two.

So if I have an eBook that has a unique ISBN, I can have the format listed under edition and if it's not a unique ISBN, I cannot have the format listed under edition?

This souvenir folio features full-color photos from the stunning production as well as piano/vocal arrangements of 9 songs, including: All I Ask of You * Angel of Music * Masquerade * The Music of the Night * The Phantom of the Opera * The Point of No Return * Prima Donna * Think of Me * Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again.

I don't think that the above edition should be combined with the other (book) versions of Phantom.

Ah yes, I see they're all over the place now. Do we fix or just wait for it to be taken care of?

The fix (when figured out) probably won't take care of the already-imported ones. I suggest NABbing them for now.

JSWolf | 649 comments The eBook Grave Peril by Jim Butcher is one example. The ISBN for the ePub is 9781440653902. The ISBN for the PDF is 9781440653865. The ISBN for the MS Reader is 9781440653858. Though I think the MS Reader version may no longer be available.

There is an example of an eBook with different ISBN numbers without reusing any paper version ISBN.

If there is only one eBook version apart from the Kindle version and the ISBN is different from the print version's ISBN, can the edition field have the eBook format?
