Me: Well, if she did ever find out then I guess they'd either move him to a higher-security asylum or keep him completely isolated from everyone permanently. Which would suck.

So instead, if I get Kat's O.K., I shall have her develop Stockholm Syndrome, so to speak--she'd get really attacked to the patients and want to keep them out of trouble rather then punish a few for their crimes.
