Noor Al-Shanti Loving everyone else's responses to this, they just remind me of why I love the Hp series so much!

I think it's a combination of good characterization, the humour, the simple writing style and the way Jo blends all kinds of myths and ideas into her magic system...

And I'm another one of the people whose love was fueled by online fan forums!

Noah (teatalksreadsbooks) | 8 comments I believe the Harry Potter series was the first major set of books that made me love reading. Of course, I had always read books before then, but the Potter series made me want to read future books. To me, my enjoyment of the books is due to the depth of the world. The fact J.K. Rowling planned out every detail of her Wizarding World is just amazing and makes it more believable. Many of the characters are very unique and enjoyable to read (even if we as the reader are not meant to like that character!).

elenaj450 (thealmightytatertot) | 8 comments Well my friend forced me to read it. Okay, not forced. But kept reminding me to read it. So I went to our school library and picked it up. And I instantly loved it as soon as Harry got to Hogwarts. It was so amazing for me!

Jaime (jalyns7611) | 5 comments I started reading it to my daughter when she was 6 years old. I loved the quiet time with her and her excitement as she was filled with wonder and curiosity at what would happen next. After we read the first one we were both hooked. Harry Potter is the series that paved the way for her to become an avid reader. We went to all the midnight release parties, dressed up, went to all the movies dressed up, and even now as she is 21 and I'm..well...old enough lol we continue to go to all things Harry Potter with the same excitement we did when we began. We now have a Harry Potter themed bathroom and a Harry Potter Christmas Tree this year.

It worked for me because my parents read it to me and my brother as babies. When i got older we only had book 3 and 4 so i read those. I didn't really get into the entire series until i was 9. Ever since then i loved reading books by J.k. Rowling. I was inspired to become a writer and that was all thanks to J.K. Rowling and Harry Potter.

Julia | 180 comments The movie hooked me first, because I was only five and a half when I first watched it, so not yet old enough to read the books (although my Dad started reading them to me within a year). What hooked me then on the movie, I believe, was Emma Watson's performance as Hermione. She looked and talked so much like me, and she was an awkward little know-it-all like me. Although I think Hagrid took my heart as well, but by watching and reading about Hermione, I felt like I was having all of the adventures myself.
