I really loved this little interlude. The Mind fascinates me, particularly its thirst for survival. Juxtaposed with Horza's killing of the ship Mind in the preceding chapter, I imagine Banks was really trying to drive home the idea that these minds are not just sentient but alive.
The mind really came off sounding like a small rodent burrowing in an abandoned hole...this is what I am liking about this book, the way all the AI characters are personalized
