Brad (judekyle) | 1607 comments I really loved this little interlude. The Mind fascinates me, particularly its thirst for survival. Juxtaposed with Horza's killing of the ship Mind in the preceding chapter, I imagine Banks was really trying to drive home the idea that these minds are not just sentient but alive.

Maggie K | 693 comments The mind really came off sounding like a small rodent burrowing in an abandoned hole...this is what I am liking about this book, the way all the AI characters are personalized

Jon (jonmoss) | 889 comments I also loved this interlude and agree with Brad that the contrast to Horza's 'murder' of the shuttle's Mind drives home the life of the AIs.
