V, you know I stalk your reviews to find some interesting books to read!

I haven't read SK yet. I know I have some that I will get around to eventually.

Looking forward to reading TBBB by AG.

Kouk | 201 comments Sometimes a book sounds really good and you don't enjoy it!
Doesn't mean you've got bad taste.

If a book doesn't grab me after a certain number of pages i quit.
Life is too short to read a book that's obviously not for me!

I do have to say that all of my firsts HP's were good reads but i guess, i got pickier after a while!

Leona (wdwcbm) | 373 comments I am just starting AG's The Brazillian's Blackmail Bargain....Looks really hot. I have already read AG's Ruthlessly Bedded, Forcibly Wedded ***** 5 stars...loved it. I finished this weekend The French Tycoon's Pregnant Mistress ****4.5 star read. She is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine. I actually emailed her a question about why one of her books was not available in the States..and if it was planning to be released and she replied herself so quickly!.. She seems very nice.

Aruana | 248 comments I'm going through a bit of a bad patch at the moment. I've had two "bad" ones in a row now and now I'm "off". Maybe I need to take a break?

Hope you read a nice HP again soon Aruana!

Aruana | 248 comments Ladies, I wanted to hear what you guys think of Sandra Marton's writing? I don't see her mentioned a lot. I went through a Sandra Marton Phase. Glommed a lot of her books.

I like her books, but I've noticed the she tends to have heroes that are too alpha for her heroines. I like her when I'm in the mood. I loved a few of her older books.

message 310: by Leona (new)

Leona (wdwcbm) | 373 comments Aruana, her two latest books...Not For Sale and The Real Rio D'Aquila. Sandra Marton are both 5 star reads. The latter is a series about the Orsini family that is supposedly pretty good.

Leona (wdwcbm) | 373 comments I just finished The Sicilian's Mistress by LG. Wow, wow, wow, a 4.5 star for me, even though I am not an amnesia fan. Somehow the amnesia plot/storyline just doesn't work for me. But this has an incredible twist and is done really well. There were a couple of times I wanted to just smack the H and h....but then again, it is an LG. LOL!!!

message 312: by Leona (new)

Leona (wdwcbm) | 373 comments I am thinking of starting The Ultimate Betrayal by MR. I am a huge MR fan...No one does angst like her. But this one seems like it could really be over the top. Could you ladies give me your thoughts. Is this one you would recommend? Is it on you Keeper shelf?

I absolutely recommend it. You will love it! It has a lot of angst, but you won't regret it. It's a classic HP read.

I loved these two books. I'm a big fan of her, but she can sometimes be a bit hit or miss : more hit than miss though.

I think almost all of the SM books I've read were part of the Orsini series, and I enjoyed them. I rate most of her books between 3-4 stars.

message 321: by Aruana (new)

Aruana | 248 comments Guys, I'm running out of authors. I'm very conservative when it comes to my M&B authors. I tend to stick to a couple and I'm not too adventurous to try new ones.

You by now probably know who my faves are. Top 3: Annie West, Abby Green and Jane Porter. Also love Sarah Morgan, Melanie Millburne, Lynne Graham, Michelle Reid, Jaqueline Baird

How's Anne Oliver, Kate Hewitt and Maisey Yates? I've only read about 2 Yates'. Was okay. Not a big fan of Chantele Shaw, but maybe you guys can recommend some of their books. I like strong, alpha males. Abby Green-alphas.

How is: Kate Walker, Anne McAllister, Susan Stephens, Catherine George, Susanne James, Kate Hardy, Kimberly Lang, Kim Lawrence etc.

I'm not a big Trish Morey fan. Sharon Kendrick is very hit and miss.

I do like the new Ellis author and Conder.

Please help!

message 322: by Tracie (last edited Apr 25, 2012 06:19AM) (new)

Tracie (mom2teebee) I just looked back over my HP shelf and I think I need to branch out on authors a bit too.

I've read His Miracle Baby (Passion) by Kate Walker and liked that.

If you like the Extras then Heidi Rice was good.

By Kate Hewitt, The Man Who Could Never Love was decent.

Beauty and the Greek by Kim Lawrence was also good.

I loved The S Before Ex by Mira Lynn Kelly.

I also read a book by Jennie Lucas that was good.

Looking over my shelf I may have only read 1 or 2 books by some authors. If I read 2 them sometimes one I would enjoy and the other would just be meh.

So I don't have enough to actually say if this author or that is pretty consistent other than those I've read a bunch of which were in your faves list.

Have you read The Man She Loves To Hate (Presents Extra) by Kelly Hunter yet?

A lot of our members liked it!
Myself included.

Which books have you read by Maisey Yates?

I really enjoyed:
An Accidental Birthright by Maisey Yates
The Inherited Bride by Maisey Yates

message 324: by Leona (new)

Leona (wdwcbm) | 373 comments Ladies, I would like to try my hand at Jacqueline Bard. Can you give me some of your favorite books by her?

message 325: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Harlequin Presents are my crack! (last edited Apr 25, 2012 08:31AM) (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 2281 comments Mod
Aruana, you might try India Grey. She has an Annie West and Abby Green angst/passion vibe to her writing. I also agree with Kouk's recommend of Kelly Hunter. I have liked Maisey Yates a lot, Kim Lawrence, and Caitlin Crews. The reviews are mixed on those three. Another favorite author of mine in this line is Susan Napier. She's not prolific of late, but a lot of her books are now available on ebook. Also, I read a book by Natasha Tate, and I think I will add her to the ranks of authors to watch. Also Lynn Raye Harris. Jenny Lucas tends to be on the melodramatic side, but she has some good books.

I have read Nicola Marsh and she's a good writer too.

Leona, I liked Untamed Italian, Blackmailed Innocent by Baird a lot. I loved how the heroine was quite indifferent to the hero. A nice change!

message 327: by Aruana (new)

Aruana | 248 comments Thank you ladies!

I have The Inherited Bride and Girl on a Diamond Pedestal by Maisey Yates. I think I should give The Inherited Bride a reread.

I've not been a big fan of Lucy Monroe. I'm just looking at some I have here: For Duty's Sake is one and then there is Chantelle Shaw : His Unknown Heir.

I love Lynn Raye Harris. She is on my keeper list.

I'm not really a fan of the Extras .........

I will just have to get out of my comfort zone and try some new things.

Aruana, I was in a similar boat. I actually shied away from the Modern Heat line because I viewed them as too Sex and the City like. I have found some good books in that line, even though I don't read all of them.

Yes, that's it exactly - very Sex and The City and believe it or not, I was never a massive fan of it. Haven't even seen the two movies.

I used to watch it, and then I realized I really disliked all the characters. Last thing I want to do is read a romance with characters like them!

Leona (wdwcbm) | 373 comments Aruana, I don't know if you have tried LM's The Greek Tycoon's Ultimatum, The Greek's Innocent Virgin and the The Billionaire's Pregnant Mistress. All three were really enjoyable reads. She can be a little hit or miss...but these three were very good. Very alpha..hot hero's, without being TSTL!

message 333: by Leona (new)

Leona (wdwcbm) | 373 comments Aruana, I forgot The Scorsolini Marriage Bargain and The Sheikh's Bartered Bride...another two really good books by Lucy Monroe!

Verity | 567 comments I still have TGTLC in dead tree, somewhere on the bottom of TBR skyscraper.

Have only read a few JBs & didn't like :
@ the spaniard's pleasure
His inherited bride
The valentine child
Nothing changes love

Lurved :
Shattered trust
Passionate betrayal
Dark desiring

message 344: by Leona (new)

Leona (wdwcbm) | 373 comments Thank you Verity! You're Lurved ones look great.

Ladies, I have a question......I just finished Aristides' Convenient Wife (Mediterranean Marriage). When I was young (oh so long ago) Marriage of Convenience meant no conjugal rights....Obviously, the definition has changed....LOL.. What do you think it means?

message 345: by Danielle The Book Huntress , Harlequin Presents are my crack! (new)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 2281 comments Mod
I always thought it meant not emotional involvement (probably not sexual either). I remember the hero usually wanting to modify that part of it in a lot of the older books I read.

message 346: by Leona (new)

Leona (wdwcbm) | 373 comments Lady D...thats' what I thought. I looked up the def.

Definition: A marriage of convenience is a marriage between two people for practical or financial reasons and not for love or intimacy.

Lesson learned to our heroine's...don't assume it means no sex...always read the fine print!

I love the new M&B covers. It almost makes me want to import my HPs just to get the nice covers. This book looks pretty good.
