Too bad, Scully. The bland HPs are so disappointing.

Will do :) I was surprised to find this one in such good condition at the library. I don't think anyone's read it before.

message 60: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly I'm also reading this HQN Wedding at Leopard Tree Lodge by Liz Fielding (I know it's not an HQN Presents but I still like it a lot).

How do you like it? I started reading that one a while back when I first started reading HPs again but I found it to be really boring and DNF'd it.

I don't read the Harlequin Romance line, but I did start reading one by that author and I found her writing to be flirty and fun.

message 63: by Kate (last edited Nov 30, 2011 03:24PM) (new)

Kate (kateperegrinate) Liz Fielding is one of those authors whose M&B Riva books are published in the US in the Harlequin Romance line. Nicola Marsh's Riva's are sometimes HPE and other times Harlequin Romance, and my understanding is that the main difference is the heat level (Romance line is PG-13, whereas HP and HPE are more likely to be R).

I just finished Intoxicating (Harlequin Blaze) by Lori Wilde (liked it but gave it 3.5 stars because it wasn't as spicy as I expect for Blaze).
I'm now a chapter into Nice Girls Finish Last by Natalie Anderson , and it's off to a good start (very funny meet cute for the hero and heroine).

message 64: by Jacqueline J (new)

Jacqueline J | 267 comments I'm just starting The Greek Millionaire's Secret Child (Harlequin Presents) by Catherine Spencer . In the mood for a secret baby.

message 65: by Kate (new)

Kate (kateperegrinate) Just finished Wanted by Her Lost Love (Pregnancy & Passion, #2) by Maya Banks (★★★★) and am starting The Savakis Merger (Harlequin Presents Extra) by Annie West .

Sheila (schmoozy) | 92 comments Started A Moment on the Lips (Harlequin Presents Extra) by Kate Hardy last night and like Kate will start The Savakis Merger (Harlequin Presents Extra) by Annie West later today. That leaves one more book for November and then I can finally move on to December!

Yeah, it is a little bit flat... The last 10 days I can't finnish the last 20 pages...

message 68: by Kate (new)

Kate (kateperegrinate) I just finished The Mighty Quinns Danny (Harlequin Blaze) by Kate Hoffmann -- loved it (★★★★★). It's one of those books where I wished I was the heroine.

I was going to start The Price of Scandal (Harlequin Presents #3027) by Kim Lawrence next, but I'm just tired of the virgin widow trope, so I think I'm going to skip it all together. I really need to stop feeling like I need to read every HP -- especially when the synoposis just doesn't strike my fancy. I don't understand why I feel the need to read all HPs but not all Desires or Blazes (I usually skip the ones with cowboy or military heroes).

So, I ended up starting Reclaiming His Pregnant Widow (Harlequin Desire) by Tessa Radley .

Kate, in my humble opinion, you are making a wise choice in skipping the Kim Lawrence book. I couldn't get past the TSTL heroine's TSTL stupidities in the first chapter and just gave up in total disgust.

I enjoyed the Tessaa Radley book

message 71: by Romance Lover (new)

Romance Lover (demetrahp) | 88 comments I started The Twelve Nights of Christmas (Presents Extra) by Sarah Morgan yesterday.

message 72: by Kate (new)

Kate (kateperegrinate) Vashti wrote: "I enjoyed the Tessaa Radley book.

I gave it three stars -- I didn't feel like the hero was fleshed out enough. And I thought all the dishonesty (or withholding of information) right of the bat was a little artificial.

message 73: by Kate (new)

Kate (kateperegrinate) I'm onto The Ice Prince (Harlequin Presents) by Sandra Marton . So far, pretty much what I expected based on the Orsini Brothers series -- probably will end up being a three or three-and-a-half star book for me.

message 74: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (schmoozy) | 92 comments Just started A Christmas Night to Remember (Harlequin Presents Extra #178) by Helen Brooks .

message 75: by JennyG (new)

JennyG | 108 comments I am just about to finish reading The Tycoon's Pregnant Mistress by Maya Banks

Sorry I cannot recommend it. Featuring TSTL heroine and hero, contrived writing, typos and occasional bad grammar.

message 76: by Kate (new)

Kate (kateperegrinate) Just finished The Price of Honor by Emilie Rose (★★★★). The hero is a real jerk for much of the book, but I still really liked it -- probably because I could understand where he was coming from (even though I totally disagreed with him). And he does a pretty good 180 at the end.

And now I can finally start on December releases. First up is The Trophy Wife (Harlequin Presents) by Janette Kenny .

Kate, at least he does turn around. That's the only saving grace when it comes to jerky heroes. Some authors do the redemption very well. That keeps me coming back, even though I don't like jerky heroes!

Romance Lover (demetrahp) | 88 comments I just finished In Bed with a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #1) by Maya Banks . Amazing!!! Great hero and heroine, suspense, drama and hot-hot-hot sex scenes!

message 81: by Romance Lover (new)

Romance Lover (demetrahp) | 88 comments Two days ago I started Seduction of a Highland Lass (McCabe Trilogy, #2) by Maya Banks , I hope it will be as good as the first one of the McCabe series.

message 82: by Kate (new)

Kate (kateperegrinate) I just finished Lessons in Seduction by Sandra Hyatt (★★★★★). So sad that it's Sandra Hyatt's last book. She'd quickly become one of my favorite Desire authors.

Tonight, I'll start Once Touched, Never Forgotten (Harlequin Presents) by Natasha Tate .

message 83: by Kate (new)

Kate (kateperegrinate) Over the past couple of days, I've read two non-HP novellas by HP authors (Kelly Hunter and Natalie Anderson), and enjoyed both of them!

Wish (A Novella) by Kelly Hunter ★★★★
Melt by Natalie Anderson ★★★★½

message 84: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (schmoozy) | 92 comments I started reading On the First Night of Christmas... this afternoon, and I adore it. The chemistry between these two is exciting! I am so happy that I took a mini HP break over Christmas. It really helped!

Taking a break from these once in a while is crucial for your maximum enjoyment of them when you do read them! I really enjoyed this one.

message 86: by 3meg (new)

3meg | 361 comments I enjoyed this one (probably the best of the December selection), but had a hard time overcoming the fact that she jumped into a strangers car! The entire time I was reading it I kept thinking...'but she just jumped into a strangers car!! Is noone concerned about this?' Sigh, my brain gets stuck these days....

Oh, I had a major issue with that one but I've already ranted about it so enough said :P.

message 88: by 3meg (new)

3meg | 361 comments yeah, it just ruined the whole feel of the book for me!

message 89: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (schmoozy) | 92 comments That was a huge issue for me as well, otherwise it was a fantastic read! Lulu, I couldn't agree more. I tend to get HP burnout every so often!

message 90: by Kate (new)

Kate (kateperegrinate) The fact that the heroine questioned her own action (of jumping into a stranger's car) and that it was an expensive car (not that baddies couldn't have expensive cars) made it bother me a bit less. Although, I'm not sure it's any less safe than the heroines that go off with guys they meet in a bar, hotel elevator, store, etc.

message 94: by Virginia (new)

Virginia (goodreadscomginny) | 264 comments Sheila I liked this one better than some of the others in the Wolfe series. I will have to read the Christmas one and would like to read the Lee book but have no idea where I stowed it. I like some in the Dec. group when I read them but didn't think I would. We can change our minds, I finished The De Santis Marriage (Wedlocked!) and loved it. Michelle Reid is one of my favorite HP authors and when I am bored with current titles I choose old ones to read. She has npot had a new one lately.
