Demetra, I agree! A mesmerizing read. You will love it!
Shattered Trust hooked me on Jacquiline Baird and I have now collected all of her books. Some are great and others so-so. I am starting an oldie by Robyn Donald: The Stone Princess. I hope I like it as I do not always care for her books

I'm nearly finished with Shattered Trust and wow! It's different from the usual HP storylines. Some of these older books are so much better than the current ones :::shakes head::::
Aruana
Well ladies,I took a break from hq for awhile...but came back with Behind The Palace Walls. And I just loved that book. I liked how the h had to show some initiative to get her H. That makes it stand out from the others where the h just let's things go on without a fight. Don't want to give away too much, but this book, I definitely recommend!
I've just finished
by Michelle Reid.Wow! Wow! Wow! Such an emotional punch. Dealing with rape and one of the most wonderful heroes ever. I just wanted to hug Sandro.
This has ramped up angst to the max.
Loved it. I am really enjoying these older HP's. They just have so much more to them.
Aruan
Aruana, they really do..the older books focus more on content and story development, character interaction, etc..Whereas I feel the newer books, take the easier way out, focusing more on sexual content than real plot development.

Virginia, can you recommend some of your favorite Jacqueline Baird HP's. I too really enjoy her work..and am looking for more.
Leona wrote: "Aruana, they really do..the older books focus more on content and story development, character interaction, etc..Whereas I feel the newer books, take the easier way out, focusing more on sexual con..."Leona, I'm about to start one you've recommened to me called The Dark Side of Desire by Michelle Reid. Can't wait to get started.

Aruana wrote: "Loved it. I am really enjoying these older HP's. They just have so much more to them."I agree! I love old Harlequins. They have good story plots.
Aruana, if you are reading The Dark Side of Desire by Michelle Reid....hold onto your seat, cause you are in for one heck of a ride! Let me know if you like it!
Loved shattered trust and thedark side if desire written by 2 of my fav hp authors.Nothing beats the oldies, they are the best.
Anyone notice a List of HP books are like The Dark Side of Desire? I like that storyline the best..the ones with the past relationship preferably platonic at first...Thanks!
Okay, I just finished The Dark Side of Desire ......... Wow! I'm saying that a lot lately about these old HP's. O, man ...... I need a rest after that. What an emotional punch! It was perfect. I would not change a thing. It just ticked all the boxes for me.I need some more recommendations ladies ... please .... old HP's with substance.
I know there's been mention of a Lynne Graham (?) where the H cheats on the h ............ ?

.My favorites are The Ultimate Betrayal and The Spanish Groom.
Ooo, thanks Demetra. Going to make work of this asap!I just finished Crime of Passion by Lynne Graham.
My heartbeat was erratic from the beginning of that book! Right up to the end. Rafael was such an uber alpah male ... wow! I could feel his energy jumping off of the pages. Shamelessly alpha. I feel quite guilty about the fact that I liked the fact that he was so masterful ...... :::shiver::::
Georgie was an absolute sweetie. Loved her! She was strong, but so gentle. Loved her integrity and the fact that she didn't give in to Rafael at the drop of a hat.
Guys, what happened to the HP's. They were so wonderful back then. Fleshed out and intricate plot developments. Lynne Graham wrote such good books back then. I still love her books, but back then .... It's just so puzzling.
I'm going to try some of these that Demetra has suggested .....
Aruana
Aruana, based on Demetra's recommends I just tried Emma Darcy's "Breaking Point". It was incredible!

.I haven't read them but they are from the 90's and high rated, so...
Demtra, what did you like about the Spanish Groom? I have been hesitant to read it. though I know it is in the top spot for best hp?
Just finished Savage Obsession **** 4 stars!!!Love Conspiracy *** stars...though a very intense read, I could not get passed the cheating aspect in the relationship. But if you are looking for a very riveting HP read..these two are great!
Leona wrote: "Demtra, what did you like about the Spanish Groom? The hero was great and in love with the heroine (and insanely jealous) almost from the start of the book. The heroine was a little gullible, but really sweet and lovely. They were great together.

I'll have to check these out, Demetra.
I really enjoyed
The Billionaire Affair (Mistress to a Millionaire) by Diana Hamilton.

Leona, I think you will enjoy it, though the heroine might potentially get on your nerves (she did grate on mine a little with her silliness). We seem to have similar tastes in Harleys, I predict you would give this one not less than *** though I think maybe even ****.

Demetra and Lululemon, ok! it's a go....silliness I can take...it's those spineless doormats that that send me over the edge and I do so love a besotted hero! ; - ))
Ladies, could you perhaps recommend some older Sheikh/Sultan etc. books. I have probably read most of the newer ones by Annie West, Jane Porter, Abby Green etc., but some older recommendations would be great. Thanks you!

Not really an oldie, but I enjoyed
The Sheikh's Chosen Wife by Michelle Reid.

Aruana, this is part of a series...you will like it. Try the third in the series as well, it was my favorite.
Leona wrote: "Aruana, this is part of a series...you will like it. Try the third in the series as well, it was my favorite."I've got them lined up, Leona. This one sounded very interesting and I'd thought I'd try it first.

I have been retreading some of the oldies:Nothing Changes Love (Wedlocked)Is not the best Baird book but was enjoyable. Ido dislike the books where the h and H have been apart for long periods of time. They were apart for five years before he found her. We don't know what he was doing during this time. Was he celibate? Loved The Sicilian's Marriage Arrangement? Lucy Monroe is one of my favorite authors.
Virginia wrote: "Loved The Sicilian's Marriage Arrangement? Lucy Monroe is one of my favorite authors. "It was an OK read.
I'm reading
and emotionally it's draining. What Ione hasn't gone through! Loving Alexios. Emotionally draining.

I really enjoyed this book, but I have to say that I found Stavros Denakis scary at times! He was such an Alpha ..... at times I actually felt like he weas bullying Tessa, but she's not a pushover. His distrust of women was so ingrained, but he comes
around in the end.
Just started
Shattered Trust by Jacqualine Baird
